Thank you so much, Emily, for your thoughtfulness. I'm proud of the accomplishments I've made in recovery and acknowledge there's more work ahead of me. Your comment about what would I serve a friend, or someone else in recovery, gave me pause - I had not thought of that perspective and sincerely appreciate this new way to look at my choices and portions.

I'm proud to share with you that I've been ACTIONing😄using larger bowls over the past couple of days. LOTS of positive self-talk😂 re: get over fear by DOING!! Thank you! Thank you! for your amazing, kind encouragement! @@emilyspence2961

Thank you, I find this really reassuring. I keep telling myself “oh this MUST be big enough portion” etc and then feeling shitty afterwards when it actually didn’t really touch the sides and I’d have to go get more. Maybe “normal” portions won’t even be sufficient for a person in recovery. It just kind of feels a bit over the top sometimes, the amount I seem to need…

    May I ask,
1)would this be also for middle-aged
(older women) stuck in quasi for long-term?(gaining but with small restrictions n so many rules n OCD to some level with fear response)
2)Do u apply this even when so bloated n full after eating a lot?

Respectfully, this is for everyone; age is irrelevant. I'm 51 and have clinically diagnosed OCD, anxiety, and anorexia - not uncommon to co-occur.

Are you eating to satisfaction, or do you find you sometimes want more after a brief pause? This is how I try to action portions. Hope this helps. Sending love and encouragement to you!

@@susan_e thanks for replying it means a lot. I am just eating safe foods and all the same things I am really scared of eating something different

I completely understand; definitely been there! I'm so happy to hear you are eating - give yourself lots of love for fueling your wonderful body! I've found, in my own experiences, that many times my fear is relieved when I DO, or ACT on, whatever the issue is. It's OK to be scared and do it anyway. It truly does get a bit easier each time. I assure you there are NO 'right' or 'wrong' foods. Trust your body and its wisdom. It will tell you when it's hungry, what it wants, and when it's satisfied. I know some days can be especially challenging and you're doing your best so keep being kind to yourself. You DESERVE recovery! @@JaneEllis-m4y
