Yeah- so many problems and not just with the cooling system. Bad radiators, alternaters, power steering leaks, power windows, in dash gear boxes for heating and air conditioning flow, etc…. List goes on and on. The engineering design is great for one reason- limited time and use. Not for durability or long run. I’am saying usually after 80,000 to 100,000 miles. Cadillac is made for the short term. People with deep pockets buy such cars new and trade them when the short term is up and go buy a new one. That’s all their good for. Just a continual inheritance of problems.
Just some helpful info. I have a 2004 deville and was having the all to familiar low coolant engine hot situation. Cracked head or bolt issue came to mind. Ended up being a leak/s from behind water pump crossover. New seals and new water pump later. I’m a happy camper. Even snugged down the head bolts for good measure. Sad to think many of these cars end up in the scrap yard and it was not head bolts!

Having a coolant filter on a north star is a waste. The engine is a time bomb. It could last 100k or it could blow up tomorrow & get milk shake. Basically if u got one of these things, change the oil, & don’t put $ into it. Throw some head gasket sealer in it, but don’t get carried away with it.
Putting the filter on the coolant was not a waste. It got the soot out of the coolant. Head gasket sealer is a waste of time. You can't stop 1000 psi + from leaking out of a cylinder with an additive. This car has paid for itself on my youtube channel.

Quick question on my 2003 Cadillac DeVille i can't get it to run very long before it runs hot i am aware it has a blown head gasket but this is my thing i noticed while working on it yesterday if i run it with purge line unhooked from reservoir it will run all day it appears and won't run hot can it run without purge line hooked up to reservoir indefinitely completely
You are joking right? I rebuilt this engine and the reason it was over heating. One head bolt thread were stripped out when they built this engine. This cause the # one cylinder to leak exhaust into the coolant system. The water pump can't pump steam. ua-cam.com/video/BDQD8Aamhu4/v-deo.htmlsi=VvNKUuB_CkVpri21
Have the headgaskets or headbolts ever been changed onnit? Good cars, other than the N*v8 issues, definitely think it’s worth investing......especially since you got it cheap AF!! I have an 02 tahoe myself, & we are soon to be on transmission #3 lmfao
