    I have tried everything with this Norstar of mine. Overheated. Had a new water pump installed. Ran ok for a while then wouldn't run/idle. New coil packs and new spark plugs. Ran ok for a while then overheated again. $2000 in new parts/labor and i'm right back where i started. Such a beautiful car but so many engine problems. I'm going to check that hose you showed us. Thanks for the video. (Blows my mind that 13,000 other people seem to be dealing with this)

      Take it to the dealer or someone who know about the northstar. This engine is not made like 350.

      Yeah- so many problems and not just with the cooling system. Bad radiators, alternaters, power steering leaks, power windows, in dash gear boxes for heating and air conditioning flow, etc…. List goes on and on. The engineering design is great for one reason- limited time and use. Not for durability or long run. I’am saying usually after 80,000 to 100,000 miles. Cadillac is made for the short term. People with deep pockets buy such cars new and trade them when the short term is up and go buy a new one. That’s all their good for. Just a continual inheritance of problems.

    Just some helpful info. I have a 2004 deville and was having the all to familiar low coolant engine hot situation. Cracked head or bolt issue came to mind. Ended up being a leak/s from behind water pump crossover. New seals and new water pump later. I’m a happy camper. Even snugged down the head bolts for good measure. Sad to think many of these cars end up in the scrap yard and it was not head bolts!

      Exhaust is getting into the coolant so the head gasket is blown.

      HENRY ROBINSON; CAN YOU HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM? 1999 CADILLAC DEVILLE - UNUSUAL ANTIFREEZE LEAK
      THE CAR DOES NOT OVERHEAT. The vehicle leaks antifreeze near the rear of the engine on the driver's side. A new water pump was installed which the mechanic thought would solve the problem because a slightly leaking water pump gasket. The leak does not occur until the vehicle has cooled down about forty-five to sixty minutes later. I go outside to look under the car and the leak is there on the cardboard which I replace regularly after driving. The leak saturates the cardboard and leaks onto the concrete. I normally must put one to two twelve ounces water bottles of antifreeze back in the antifreeze reservoir after the leak appears. There are no leaks once I replaced the antifreeze. The car does not overheat. A pressure test was conducted by the garage - twice. The mechanics are baffle. The engine temperature normally gets to about 213 degrees while driving around in the FT. Stewart, Ga area of 90 degrees running errands. There are no leaks when I stop at this store or that store to make purchases. I have been out as long as an hour at a time the last three weeks. The car drives beautifully. This car is well maintained. Can anyone help me or steer me in the right directions? NOTE: How do I remove antifreeze stains from my driveway? THANKS MRMATH@CLDS.NET

    Having a coolant filter on a north star is a waste. The engine is a time bomb. It could last 100k or it could blow up tomorrow & get milk shake. Basically if u got one of these things, change the oil, & don’t put $ into it. Throw some head gasket sealer in it, but don’t get carried away with it.

    • @blackericdenice
      @blackericdenice  2 роки тому +2

      Putting the filter on the coolant was not a waste. It got the soot out of the coolant. Head gasket sealer is a waste of time. You can't stop 1000 psi + from leaking out of a cylinder with an additive. This car has paid for itself on my youtube channel.

      Try to bleed the engine when it is 100% cold. Take the small hose off the coolant tank. Start the engine and run the coolant into a container. After you have pumped out about a gallon of coolant. The air should be out of the engine. Pore the coolant back into the tank.
