I recently bought the 8” HF. The deciding factor for me was the height of the drill. Turns out the widest distance on the 10” is 10” inches from the chuck to the table. The 8” is about 8” to the table but the table can be moved out of the way to create 10” distance.
The stoke distance in only 3/8” more on the 10”. Also, the motor is better on the 10” but, being a hobbyists woodworker, I will only be drilling wood not metal. Decided to save a little money to spend on something else I will be using more often.
So far, I am quite happy with the 8”.
    Enjoy!

Nice! Yeah I'm lovin the HF drill press. I only got the bigger one because they were sold out of the $79 one in my area, he had one $149 left. Good idea about removing the table for some extra inches! Imma keep that in my back pocket :)

I own the smaller version of the HF Drill Press, I didn't had to much trouble putting it together. I use it allot compare to what you say people don't. Maybe is because I've also use my Scroll Saw, the drill press is a dream to use for a better work flow if you make several projects at the same time. Great investment, I bet by now you love it :)

I have a Craftsman floor model that’s about 25 yrs. old it also came with a plastic handle that is now cracked. I have bought a nice shiny all metal machine wheel style handle online it cost me about 15 bucks all I have to do is drill it out to fit the shaft on the table height adjust mechanism.

Thanks Aaron. I bought a used Shopsmith just for the drill press features. Check it out on other UA-cam videos. Your video is very helpful and well done. Thanks again for sharing. Oh by the way, I am a subscriber.

Jealous! Shopsmiths are so cool. I had the opportunity to buy one but passed it up, now I'm basically buying the pieces one-by-one. Should've just bit the bullet and got the Shopsmith. Thanks for the sub!! :D

I might be wrong but the simplest explication of what amps are was this.
Imagine a water hose as an electric cable.
The hose diameter is the volts, the pressure of the water is the amps.

Preach it! I only go to one place to get my hair cut, and my schedule hasn't mashed up to get a few inches cut off. Lol

Looks a lot like my 10” Wen including the bolt to tilt the table. The one time I wanted to tilt the table, I couldn’t loosen the bolt. 😅
