This is a great tempo for this type of tutorial. Love it. Thank you.
I am so glad to hear that! Thank you so much for watching! And I greatly appreciate your continued support.
Thank you for being so generous with this course. I'm very excited to get started and this first tutorial was the perfect introduction.
I'm glad to hear that! Please let me know if you have any questions :)
yes yes yes go takumi go!! great intro lesson & great pacing too - looking forward to the next ones :)
Thank you so much, Cami! I really appreciate your kind words and support!
Thank you so much, your teaching style is fantastic!
Really needed something like this, the PD forums tend to be ultra specific.
I'm always happy to read comments like this! I tried my best to keep these tutorials simple but still informative.
Another awesome max and pd channel. amazing amazing amazing
Sorry for the delay in response! My laptop was getting fixed.
Thank you so much! I hope you're enjoying the journey so far!!
Very nice tutorial, for all that is already said in the rest of the comments, looking forward to continue.
i just getting started with pure data i don't know how to start then i discover your channel thanks for the tutorials.
thank you for making these videos! also love that your favourite number is 42
te amo thanks for sharing your knowledge
You’re a great UA-cam guy
Thank you so much again for your support, Tucker! I'm glad that you like these videos.
yep, you start with the very basics, this was exactly what i was looking for! others have objects already in there turorials and start from there, leaving me puzzled...
I'm glad to hear that!!! Thank you so much for the kind words and also for watching!
Yeah, I'm not a fan of most software tutorials. They either go way too slow or fast.
@@SoundSimulator at the moment i have not the time to really go into pd, but i wanted that for a long time and now i bookmarked your feature here and i´ll come back to it in time... :-)
thanx again...
Man thank you, this is the level I needed to start at with Puredata. I tried a number of other tutorials and it seems like the instructors have no idea how alien it is as a beginner and even if they start off really simple by like 2 minutes in have just skipped light years ahead. Thank you!
Glad to hear that!! I really wanted these tutorials to start off simple but not boring!
I'm excited that you're going on this journey!
The real question is will he ever show us how to get our heads to display text like his. This keeps me up at night.
You're implying that I have a head to begin with, which I cannot confirm nor deny.
great work =) this is great - thank you! the URLs in the video description aren't working so wanted to give a heads up =)
Thank you so much for watching! Glad you enjoyed the video. Also, thanks for letting me know! I'll fix the links.
Boy I wish this video was out when I was in uni
@@SoundSimulator bro... my professor told us get the max demo at the beginning of the year which was only like 30 days or smthn but waited til like the end of the semester to actually start teaching. The stress of the trial ending and doing assignments lol
@@SoundSimulator also thanks for making these. U make it incredibly easy to understand. Now I just have to re-tackle csound again...
@@neverknowsbest1717 Yeah, it should be 90 day free trial for students (length of a semester).
And thanks! I'm glad to hear that.
this is awesome! i tried to make audio with mozzi and arduino, but for a beginner its quite hard with textbased programming. this GUI looks way more intuitive. one difference i see is, that mozzi runs on arduino embedded and pd always requires a pc or laptop. is there a way to use pd without pc?
If you wanna make an embedded project with a microcontroller, I highly recommend Daisy Seed!
Though I'm part of Electrosmith's team now, I've been recommending them way before I joined ;)
We're actually uploading a Pure Data + Daisy video, I believe, this upcoming week, so I hope you find it useful! www.youtube.com/@electrosmithco
I can't decide between lerning Pd and supercollider first. Should I start with this since it's more visual? Or maybe I can lern them both at once since they're both object oriented languages which means how they work can translate into each other?
Learning both will be beneficial! I think Pure Data may be a bit more accessible than SuperCollider, which is text-based.
In the long run tho, having a solid text-based programming skill will open up a lot of door.
And it ultimately depends on what type of project you want to create!!
Thanks for the tutorials. The constant hand movements become very distracting, but the content is great!
Yeah, I stopped doing it in recent videos! I hope you enjoy the rest of the series!
@@SoundSimulator I am thoroughly enjoying all your content! This has instantly become my most anticipated UA-cam channel :D
@@jvk86 Thank you so much again for the kind words and support, Jonathan! I'm happy to hear that you're looking forward to new videos!
Unfortunately I'm already struggling. My patch looks exactly the same as yours but when I click the button/bang, the number does not change. Any advice??
Hi, Finn.
I think what may be happening is that you're clicking the button object while still in Edit Mode. Make sure you toggle out of it using Command-E or Ctrl-E.
I hope that helps! If it's still not working, please feel free to send me a screenshot via DM.
Not sure what I did wrong, but my number doesn't change to my favorite number. I using Pd in macOS
Sorry for the delay in response. I think you are still in edit mode. I believe you have to be in non-edit mode to change the number by clicking on the number object and typing in.
@@SoundSimulator @mrbobcr I think you create a regular "object" Command 1 rather than a "number object" Command 3
thanks for taking ten seconds out of my life to tell me what a button is irl. very valuable, as i, a person who is viewing this on youtube, have never encountered the concept of a button
nerd
I like the content of your video but there's something extremely annoying in your vodeos, it's the presence of a man without head checking his hands all the time, honnestly, you are best to get rid of this window, it's useless or show your face in a bottom corner. Regards
ok, good, but...why the unbearable and totally useless hand overacting that only serves to distract from the subject at matter ?
thank you for a real INTRODUCTION level INTRODUCTION video for puredata. all the tutorials out there on pure data start too fast and use programming language like lol wanna make sounds but i'm not a computer scientist
I'm glad to hear that! I did my best to make it approachable for musicians!
