Buat saya pribadi, ini mobil sedan yg paling keren datsun 220c.di negeri saya pernah menjadi taksi di dekade tahun 80'an.saya masih anak2.suaranya yg gahar,khas mesin disel dan dengan body yang bonsor...saat ini saya tidak pernah melihatnya lagi melintas di jalan atau sebagai kendaraan koleksi

Beautiful looking car. I've heard of the Nissan Cedric. For some reason, this was never offered in the USA, not even as a Datsun.

This was a difficult market segment to sell in Stateside at the time. By US standards, this would have been a compact to mid-size car, so it would have been competing against slightly larger and more powerful cars like the Chevrolet Nova, Dodge Aspen, and Ford Granada, yet the cost of importation meant that it would have to be priced higher. Toyota learned that the hard way when they tried to sell the Carina in the US market in the early '70s....it was only slightly larger than the Corolla, but had to be sold for far more money, so the point that it was competing in price against far larger cars.
For that reason, Japanese cars in the American market, at least at that time, were relegated to middle-of-the-road compacts, small trucks, and sports models.
And yeah, it's a shame, because I also like these.

@@RadialSkid I agree. Unfortunately, it's not just the Nissan (Datsun) Cedric that never sold well in the USA. Toyota's Crown also didn't sell very well here in the USA. There are *so* many cars that could've sold here if car makers wanted to offer them.
