A good indication of where Arantxa's game was at in the very early 90s. She was trying hard to be more aggressive and add to her game. It gave her some very good results, but also led to a lot of inconsistency. She also wasn't the experienced match player that she would be a few years after this, so had a tendency at this point not to respect the percentages and not play the big moments too well.
Arantxa had a poor overall record against Martina. I suspect part of that is because Martina could exploit one of the relative weaknesses in Arantxa's game - her return of serve.

I always hated the way the press was always asking Martina about retirement- from the day Steffi took the #1 rank 8/87 with Martina at 30- they hounded her about this...meanwhile- Federer and Serena are pushing 40 and nobody's pushing them out/asking any questions.
It's so interesting how players are much older on average now. Back through the 80s and 90s, you were pretty much finished by the time you were 30 - many players were pretty much done by their mid 20s. Edberg, Wilander, Borg, McEnroe and others all won their last grand slam around the age of 25 / 26. Nowadays, you have players like Medvedev winning their first grand slam at 25.
@@MrYonexguy63 saw a great interview she did last week where she talked about her treatment- said how she heard boos when introduced- said it was mostly about the sexuality... she acknowledged some might be from winning so much, but then she said- 'Federer won everything for 4 years and no one booed him- it was sexuality.'
Because Martina was lesbian and american Press was Always on Evert side,even After her retirement...American Press had never forgive to Martina being more strong than Evert and all her Major wins against their"girl next Door"

@@zeddeka a lot of them owe that to Martina- she changed the game's training techniques- making longevity more attainable.
