Thanks for all the helpful comments so far about the cat! We happen to have some CBD Oil so we are going to try that to add to his rescue remedy and salmon oil supplement. He definitely doesn’t have fleas or anything like that. I suspect it is stress although he doesn’t behave in any other way stressed. He was a rescue kitten, found with his sister in a dustbin. We took them both and they are very happy. It’s like nailbiting I think in humans. Some kind of compulsive behaviour. Let’s hope the CBD works! He should start giggling soon!
This is the best Cactus tutorial I have seen. I love how the colors meld so well without mixing. I left my limited cat advice under Janet's comment. Good luck in trying to work it out. My cattle dog had hot spits all her life. It was a constant battle. Shots were all that helped but now there are new things to try.
I love watching you paint…you make it look so easy! Thank you for this demonstration video. Great explanations of colour choices…I can’t wait to try painting cacti!
CRAZY CAT SUGGESTION: Siamese cats are high-strung & prone to stress. If you can, try to identify any pattern in his day that triggers his stress. If you can’t remove the trigger, start interrupting his over-zealous grooming with a bit of catnip. That should eliminate stress immediately. 😋. Good luck! FABULOUS PAINTING BTW, CANT WAIT TO TRY THIS!!! THANK YOU!!!🥰
I’ve never thought about painting a cactus until now. Diane you’ve done an excellent painting. I am really liking the muted colors along with the roses you did as well. I may try growing cactus myself. You’re an inspiration.❤️
Oh Ms Diane you never fail to amaze me with your lovely creations. I love this!!! Going to try it soon. Thank you so much. Hope your kitten gets better. I'm a cat lover too and can imagine how it is when they develop a problem...
So glad you enjoy the videos Cheryl, and thanks for your kind thoughts about the cat. He is fine, don't worry about him, he is just really silly with his personal habits!
Have to agree with the food allergy thoughts. Our dog had hot spots, even went bald in some areas before we figured it out... her food. Changed it and she recovered nicely. BTW... love the painting and greetings from Texas!
Thanks for the tips! I'm going to look into the food issue as we do already know he is allergic to gluten and there might be something else bothering him. So glad you enjoyed the painting, and wonderful having you on board!
Lovely painting. And I’ve decided to do his for my daughter for Christmas as she loves cactus. Also, CBD oil is really good for cats and dogs with allergies. It’s really the only thing that’s worked for us and our lab. Thank you for your tutorials. I enjoy them so much.

Guess who's here trying to sketch this 😀 when I complete it I will put a photo up on Instagram and tag you , I needed to find something with a lot of green to paint as I brought the Schmincke forest set and I can only paint leaves up to now but willing to give this a go. 😎
I enjoyed watching this tutorial. 💕I love the way you mix your paints. You get great variation of colors. I always learn something by watching you paint. Can you please paint a large mouth bass fish? My family and I fish and I would love to learn how to paint one. 😊🎣
Diane, you handled a prickly subject with great color and skill. 😄 The salt was a great tip to get that speckled texture a lot of cacti have. I use a half a plastic credit card to scrape away salt on a painting so as not to introduce oils. As for your cat, allergies are bad everywhere this season. My Swiss friend is dealing with skin problems on her ponies. I don't know what's available to you, but I use a product containing an antiseptic, Chlorhexidine, to help my dogs with paw biting. It's Douoxo S3 PYO. Maybe you can get it or something with similar ingredients. Good luck.
Hi and thanks for your great comments! I will make a note of what you say about the cat, and thanks for taking the time to generously contribute, much appreciated x
Our last dog had some pretty bad skin allergies that made her itch and chew horribly. We had great results with a medication the vet prescribed. She never chewed again!
That's good to hear. What kind of dog is she? Our golden retriever bitch used to have hot spots all the time and it turned out to be something in the river water she swam in that was doing it. Sadly we had to stop her swimming and then the hot spots went away, Louis the cat has responded well to the CBD oil someone on here suggested, and his fur is starting to grow back !!! AND he's getting fatter and calmer.
@@DianeAntoneStudio That's awesome. We had a wonderful Airedale Terrier that we lost of old age last December. She also responded well to CBD oil. We've been eight LONG months without a pet and are picking up a new Welsh Terrier puppy in September. Pray for me... I don't relish living through the puppy stage in my 50s!!
@@DianeAntoneStudio YES! The pup is keeping me from painting. She's getting better & I hope to be back into the studio soon. It's very sweet of you to ask. Thank you
Yes, that's a good idea. We do give him Bach flower remedies and homeopathy and the funny thing is he does seem calm, he doesn't seem stressed, but chewing his fur is a stress response. A bit baffling... but thanks for the input. Hope you enjoyed the video too!
I have one doing the same thing, when he had it once before we found out from the vet that he may just be very sensitive to fleas, so we made sure we kept up his flea treatments religiously and he got better for a long time. Now he's doing it again so we have tried cutting things out of his diet to no avail and he is only inside so he hasn't gotten into anything new. So we are stumped and think now it is also psychological as well. Sometimes he actually licks the walls or furniture so he's just licking himself more???
Janet and Diane, have you looked into Colloidal Silver for your itchy ones? Absorbinepet is for dogs, but I can't find it for cats. Maduca honey is in the Absorbinepet but could cause stomach issues with cats. I am guessing this is why they say use the Colloidal over Absorbine. Here is another one, my Sister's little dog would get yeast on her feet due to the heat and humidity in South Louisiana. She had to soak her in a vinegar solution. Now I know we are talking a cat, but maybe try spraying if they won't let you soak them. One thing for sure they won't like the taste. BTW, I broke my dog from eating my shoes or the trash by spraying with a half and half of apple cider vinegar and water. She stopped immediately. We used white vinegar for my Sister's little dog. I made a big to do about her soak time. I talked to her and massaged her the entire time. She loved it. 10 minutes was all she needed. Hope this helps.
I think I have some colloidal silver solution. I’m going to try the CBD oil first and if that’s no good I will reach for the colloidal silver! This particular cat, his name is Louis, has a serious food intolerance. We figured it out eventually -after spending a fortune on having him scanned by the vets with no answer - he seems to be gluten intolerant. If he eats cat biscuit he immediately vomits. We managed to find one kind of canned food that he can eat reliably. We have built him an outdoor catio so that he can go outside more. Maybe that will calm him down.
I agree with the comments about your cat perhaps having allergies. Which of course could be from his food , maybe his litter or nature allergies just like people that could be causing him to itch and lick.
Hi, thanks for your comment, yes, Louis is allergic to gluten, but his litter tray is the very best hyperallergenic type so I don't think it's that. There might be something else in his food I suppose that he's reacting to. I'll try to check it out. Thanks again.
For your cat, it sounds like he needs Cherry Plum and Crabb Apple bach flower combination. I am a bach flower practitioner and I would need more information about his personality in general, is he possesive, obssesive, moody, etc Rescue remedy is juxt a temporary fix until you find the perfect combination for him. Even if he does have allergies or other physical symptoms the cause is emotional/psycholocal either temporary or part of his character..."alwzys like that" this is why a derailed description of him is needed. I'd be happy to help if you tell me more. Also, if you write to the Bach Cemtre in England you will find practitioners xpecialized in animals and pets. My focus is on people. Love your painting and appreciate your work 😘
Thanks so much for your thoughtful reply and suggestions. I've been using BFR for the last 22 years and they have been a great support for my health and that of my animals and my daughter all this time. I'm a great believer in the philosophy of Dr Bach, and have visited his house at the Bach Centre in England - a place of great peace! I did a training course in prescribing the remedies many years ago, but I'm not an official practitioner. My daughter and I both use a dowsing pendulum to help us choose the right remedies for the animals and for ourselves and when frustrations and illness come up it's our first step to use the remedies. Louis is on a course at the moment and he seems, I think, to be chewing less. His personality is fine - he is very affectionate at all times, he has a good appetite, he loves the other two cats, he is happy and contented. That's why the over-zealous grooming seems so unexpected. His legs aren't sore or red, and he doesn't constantly scratch or shake his head, no other symptoms at all. He never meows for attention and he shares his sleeping places. He's a good cat, if slightly cross-eyed! Thanks again for your input, and thanks for enjoying the videos xxx

Hello. I realize you posted this as year ago but... It sounds like your cat has an allergy. Is he also bloated and gasy? If so, it could be a food allergy. Food allergies are misunderstood by people. Whereas we are often allergic to grains, animals tend to be allergic to proteins. So please don't feed your cat a grain free diet unless directed to do so by your Vet. Your cat will require testing to determine the allergy source and possibly injections to control and treat his current state. It can take a while to straighten out. But that is where I would start if he were my cat.
Hi Patty, thanks for your input, very interesting thoughts. We did have Louie to the vet but they couldn’t find anything wrong despite tests and he was getting thinner and his legs were very chewed. In desperation we decided he would have to become an outdoor/indoor cat instead of just an indoor cat. It made an immediate difference to the amount of fur chewing he did. As well, we found that the only food he could keep down is fresh fish and rice, home cooked. That’s what he eats now, with fish oil supplements. He seems much better all round. If he steals biscuit from the other cats he usually vomits. So it seems like an intolerance, like my gluten intolerance. Thanks again for your thoughts x
