Turns out to be a very "easy "job to get this car back on the road. Because that is absolute not a normal case, to many times things are much more trouble shooting, so this car is a bonus !!!! Nice car and a nice color !!
I once bid and won a Tesla on copart, went back to the listing and they'd changed keys from yes to no after the sale. I had a screenshot to prove it. Luckily for me the key was in the boot but they denied changing it.
Some people would say a lucky outcome but I know it's more that you gain experience in knowing the right ones to buy and the ones to avoid. You've restored that into being a very desirable car Dean, nice one!
@@BennyBrown-ze5ik The previous owner will feel the effects of this for a while financially as they will have to declare a claim on insurance which drive yearly premiums up.
You need to "restore exIsting activations" using ODIS to switch the dash functions back on. This will reactivate the missing dash and MMI functions. The replacement of the Gateway module hasn't been done correctly and this procedure has been missed during programming. The setting of the key user is irrelevant.
Beautiful car. Great buy for yourself, and great that the issues were resolved 'easily'. I'm guessing the previous owner is also happy that the insurance have sorted him out (hope his NCB was protected)...just a pity that the insurance company (for them) that they off-load things in that manner...but as DelBoy would say, mange-tout, He who dares wins!
Once a car battery drops below 11.6V it's basically knackered from internal damage. At that voltage sulphation occurs so you get crystals forming on the metal plates inside the battery. Whilst is may appear to work OK if it's used daily, if it's left unused for any length of time or it's a particularly cold night you'll come out to a flat battery.
you cannot tax the vehicle using v62 if the previous tax hasn't run out. basically the car needs to be 1. insured 2. have a valid Mot 3. no tax , then you can use v62 and get car taxed same time at Post Office.
Good morning. for your AGM battery you can try putting distilled water back into it. remove the adhesives and remove the caps to fill each compartment with distilled water just covering the cells. Recharge and it should hold voltage. I have already done this manipulation in the dealership in which I work with success. Thank you for your videos
Hi Dean, loving the videos as always. Sorry if you’ve already answered this. My wife’s seat Leon had its multimedia unit stolen 2 years ago & so I fixed all the cables and got a 2nd hand unit from a salvage unit. It got coded to the car by a local garage. It’s over a year later when I’ve noticed that the driving mode isn’t available. sounds similar to your RS4 driver mode issue. Is the licensing something I can sort out/fix or do I need Odis/VCDS? I do a lot of stuff myself but only have OBDeleven and a basic sealey computer. Thanks Gareth.

Nice to see a good easy result for you Dean. I share other people’s views on these motors being nicked! The motor manufacturers ought to employ some of these thieves to help them design better security systems in their cars. 👍😎
Years ago a bloke designed a lock and ignition for cars that was a fool proof as can be loads of reformed car thieves tried for up to an hour to get in to the car. a group of manufacturers purchased the lock and all the rest of the intellectual property for big money and never made or fitted it to any cars. I don't know if it's any help, but the old lad who ran the scrapyard I used to go to said never leave or charge a battery on a concrete floor because it drags the heat out of them. He used to keep them on wooden shelves.
So the previous owner could send you the second key! That car is amazing, especially in that exclusive colour! 🤤 Have you thought about keeping it instead of your new RS3?
No wonder they wrote it off due to wait time on carpet. Our car got written off recently due to 2 doors being damaged in accident. The hire car was £347 per day, absolutely mental. Body shop had waiting times of over 2 months before they can repair our car so insurance wrote it off. I bought it back and it cost me just £300 to get both doors in colour from a breaker car.
Haven't finished the video but the gateway needs restoring activations on ODIS to get drive select, acc and nav licenses restored. Guided function - replace control module. SVM does not do this.
Re: the carpet, I would have cut under passenger seat and a scrap yard visit for the same avant piece , the join being under the seat would never be noticed.
Try charging the battery through another battery. Connect charger to second battery then leads from that to your flat battery it works a treat normally. That battery shouldn’t be duff at that age .
The insurance companies never lose in these situations.. This is why they can write it off and pay out without any risk to them. It's just reflected if your premium hikes, not just for the claimant but across the board.
Well Dean , you got mighty lucky with that one , ok £900 is a lot of money to anybody , but you got a good break , now just dot your eyes & cross your tees .... & the car is great , well done again ....
Sad for the previous owner, but all in all a win for you. Perhaps it was trying rather than challenging for you to fix it, with niggling issues, rather than anything else. Have you resolved the 'license' issues yet?
