- This took a lot longer than I expected. Which means that Dokkan outdid themselves!
Sorry for any video glitching. Like I mentioned in the previous LRs, Dokkan skips frames when adapting scenes. So glitching means I'm cutting it frame by frame

I see many comments regardins Xenoverse 2`s rendition of the SBC. And it`s true I didn`t inclue them because there was nothing from Xenoverse 2 per say in this unit.
The pose they fire is completely different. The effects when fired is also a homage of both Piccolo and Gohan`s. In Xenoverse they only used Gohan (If I`m wrong the first point still stands)
In Xenoverse there`s also an emphais on the face closeup which is something that isn`t here. So no, they are nothing a like.
I would only bring Xenoverse 2 up if it were to say how unalike they are

something I haven't really seen anyone talk about is the final shot of the makankosappo. It looks like it was referenced from the manga (Light of death?).

I actually love the ssj2 refs considering all the thematic similarities between ssj2 and beast gohan. Dokkan really knows their stuff.
That hand blast Gohan does also looks like the way the ROF vegeta and the DBSB God vegeta ones
Thank you for this! i've seen alot of people yapping about the animations but the animations are filled with references from both the manga, anime and Super Hero so every Gohan fan can recognize.
I think it's a mix of things. The main thing for me is that his sprite seems too 'detached' from the bg, if that makes sense? But I think it's a mix of things. Being used against Cell Max doesn't help it cause he's such a big sprite, and also these look much better in 2x speed. Compare that to Gogeta and Broly, which I honestly think is way too fast in 2x, 1x feels like it should be 2x speed. From the vids they put out though it's very easy to miss that.
its not meant as a reference thats the thing. its simple tracing original animation and not even properly tracing it then moving still png
It isn't a reference to superhero. It just is superhero. That's like saying STR Namek Goku is a reference to the Namek saga.

Normally Dokkan limits themselves to doing the exact same poses as what inspires the frames, but they changed around the camera and angles so much for these animations it's so sick!

Beast Gohan is just SSJ 2 Teen Gohan all over again but a modern version and I love it 🔥!
I said it before when we had Least Gohan those couple years ago. Dokkan can give standalone Beast Gohan so many animations and references to other forms of himself. Glad they went above and beyond to make this Gohan really special!
After being shafted on LR beast gohan debut banner on global I left the game but I still kept a glance at dokkan. I can proudly say I want to come back when this beast gohan is released on global!

1:10 This elbow looks very similar to Perfect Cell's elbow that he did to Vegeta (also INT LR Cell too). If it is referencing Vegeta for whatever reason then that would also make his 12ki super attack look very similar to God Vegeta's ki attack on Broly
soaring dragon was done in the movie tho prob obv a reference to cell saga anyways. Also I think the kicks or one of them could be from the moment right after piccolo gives gohan a senzu. Otherwise love the frame by frame the effects in the Unit super attack are gorgeous

I Like the style and the references but the animations look a bit choppy
A lot of these seem to be stretches. The katakana thing in the first few seconds of the video is just a sound effect. Not a reference. The beam Gohan fires in his 12 ki is just that. A beam. Its different from SSJ2 Gohan with posing and everything. Its similar to RoF Vegeta and SSJ4 Goku but thats only because of the pose.

Personally I think the close up shot of Beast preparing his ki blast during the 12 ki attack feels like a reused asset of STR SSG Vegeta's Big Bang attack.
Ok but its not tho, it's animated more fluently, and the models look nothing alike. It's a similar move but thats about it
2:38 to me this looks like an homage/reference to Goku and Vegeta’s respective poses with Gohan obviously doing Goku’s and Piccolo somewhat doing Vegeta’s like in the LR TEQ SSB Goku and Vegeta 18ki

not a single frame was original. they traces all the frames and moved them. its clear that the second animation team is just a bunch of lazy motion graphic artists who know how to edit
