    Overall, the English one makes you look smarter because it looks thicker.
    I know what my first light novel is going to be now!
    Edit: I own all the books now from series 1 and 2.

      Unless you're reading Bake volume 1 or 2 in japanese. Those two are some of the longest volumes in the series, and it was so long combined that they had to split Bake into three volumes instead of the original two for the english release. Koyomimonogatari is AFAIK the largest book in the japanese releases- that was split into two volumes for the english release, but the original is just larger than Bake vol. 1 . Monogatari series is very difficult to understand for Japanese too,so I’m moved to know foreigners try to read Monogatari series.

    Monogatari, Fate, Love Live, and Madoka Magica represented in this video. Absolutely phenomenal taste.

    I'm quite peeved that the two versions aren't the same in terms of appearance. I can't read Japanese so if I were to buy them it'll have to be English but the Japanese version just feels more distinct and It'll make me want to buy both versions.

    Nice video man ^_^
    I can't wait to read all of the books. I loved reading Kizumonogatari.
    Now if only Vertical would announce some release dates.

      +No8Named8Shadow Thanks man. It sucks we have to wait so long, but it is what it is.
      I read somewhere they announced at a convention that Bakemonogatari will be sold in 3 parts (instead of 2).
      Part 1 December 2016
      Part 2 January 2017
      Part 3 February 2017

      Sounds kind of like a cash grab to me. Kizu probably sold more than they had expected. Even though I'm a big fan, I don't think I'm going to support that.

      +TCTriangle To be fair look how big Kizumonogatari is compare to the japanese version of the novels it kinda make sense they split bakemonogatari en 3 instead of two books
      (i wished they released them sooner than december thou)

    May I ask your opinion of the Kizumonogatari novel level in terms of english vocabulary? Because I'm not a native speaker and with my current level I can only watch anime and read manga in english without any problem, but I tried to read The Gunslinger (from Stephen King) in english and I had to look up half of the words of every sentence in the dictionary, and I'm planning to buy the Kizumonogatari novel but I don't wan't to find myself in that position again haha

    • @TCTriangle
      @TCTriangle  8 років тому +7

      The vocabulary and structure themselves aren't too difficult, definitely easier than regular novels. But compared to other easier light novels like Haruhi Suzumiya it's definitely a little higher level. Also, it contains a lot of references and slang that you may need to look up.

      Im not a native speaker, but I had little to no problems at all. Even tough I had to look some words up, it wasnt that much of a problem. I would still give it a shot. ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT

    • @TCTriangle
      @TCTriangle  3 роки тому +2

      It depends. Reading it is an entirely different experience from watching. I would maybe get a book of your favorite arc and see if you like it enough to get the rest.

      @@TCTriangle thank you! yeah i was talking to my friend about how i wanted to buy a big o from monogatari, and he told me it wasn’t worth it because you can’t really translate the series to english and if you watch it you’ll at least also see what’s going on.

    Hello, do you know how's the translation? Recently I've read about the localizations in light novels and wanna know if the Monogatari series don't have this awful changes in the translation.
    Good pronunciation by the way, so japanese.

    • @TCTriangle
      @TCTriangle  12 днів тому +1

      @@LoquendeitorRZ Thanks for the comment! It's been a long time since I've read it, but I don't remember anything in the English translation that stood out, so I have a feeling they went for a boring/conservative translation that avoided taking liberties with the language.

    one question the japanse version is writed in kanshi or hiragana and katakana and you can read japanese?.Nice video

    • @TCTriangle
      @TCTriangle  8 років тому +6

      +Leandro Acuña Thank you! It's all 3, but mostly hiragana and kanji. The Japanese version has fairly high level Japanese. I can read Japanese and I've been studying it for years, but I still need to look up words every other sentence to understand it.

    • @g0dgary
      @g0dgary 8 років тому +1

      +TCTriangle so how much years i need to study japanese for understand hiragana katakana and some kanshi for read manga and light novels in japanese ?

    • @TCTriangle
      @TCTriangle  8 років тому +4

      +Leandro Acuña Well that depends on how much time you spend on learning it per week. For example, when I first started learning Japanese, I spent about 15 hours a week on it, the equivalent of a part-time job. I was able to read simple mange (Dragon Ball Z, etc.) in Japanese after about 1.5 years. Now after 3.5 years, I can read more complex manga, but I still have trouble with light novels. I probably won't be able to read light novels easily for a few more years.

    what can u say about the paper quality?

    • @TCTriangle
      @TCTriangle  8 років тому +7

      +Vrahem ✩ Both are pretty high quality. The English version's paper is much whiter and a bit rough. The Japanese version's paper is yellow-ish and smoother.

    Hmm...would the risque level of that first illustration of Shinobu survive Gulf region customs? Hmm..more importantly, when you're ordering books, do the custom officers there actually open the book to check it? I doubt it, but it might be happening.

    OMG. Now I understand the red books in anime.
    PS.
    This video gave me nothing. How about translation? Monogatari books are hard to translate, or rather it's impossible to translate it without tons of TL notes (without it and without original wordplays/humour etc it has no sense to read it at all). They Americanized everything, right? There is no honorifics right? Wordplays are totally changed, right? Basically it's a 'raped', butchered and killed version of original?
    I would buy the original, but the level of Japanese used in those boos are impossible for me, even if I'm learning Japanese for 4 years and I'm reading all manga without any problem.

    • @TCTriangle
      @TCTriangle  7 років тому +13

      If you're willing to use the dictionary, reading the original Japanese is not impossible. Time consuming yes, impossible no.
      They didn't Americanize everything. Obviously some jokes needed to be changed, but in all honesty they did the best they could sticking with the original Japanese without having the English version come out as complete trash.

    • @16JPE
      @16JPE 7 років тому +6

      Its Americanized pretty great actually in my opinion. For an example when Araragi is talking to Black Hanekawa in bakemonogatari part 3, in instead of Hanekawa saying "even a cat hand is helpful" its "Myaa-haha. So you could say that my offer to ya...is the cat's pajamas!!" That is word for word BTW

    Your Kizumonogatari copy is way different from mine, I got mine a day after release. It doesn't have what yours have at the back of the book. It's no longer 1st Edition or what?.
    It says so on the second page after the cover.
