This family is divine and extraordinary special. Junior showed us how we can all learn to live better together and thrive. The electric company with a focus on profits lose what is truly irreplaceable and priceless. I will look bad on this Montage over many years, and recall it all of my days on earth. I didn't watch the full video because I realized this is the nest with Malala and Junior. Did you hear that Junior was electrocuted on a nearby power line? So incredibly sad, but to see the video of Mama Eagle feeding and hanging out yesterday or Fri with her adoptive Hawklet was very special. I know animals recover from loss better than we do, but I was still in tears watching them perch together.

I didn't know this nest, but followed some videos of fellow video makers when I read titles regarding a hawklet on the nest. Last season, I was witness to a hawklet brought alive to another BE nest and, for a few hours, it looked like the little bird would be adopted, but then ended up as dinner (I didn't have the heart to publish the part where it got killed), so such titles drew my attention. It has been an extraordinary story (and I have just watched a video of Malala and mum together at the nest) and I consider it a mockery of fate, that it should end this way! Such a rare and beautiful story of bonding between different species! It won't be forgotten - thank you for posting this video - this pair, Junior and Malala, has touched many people's hearts.

An absolutely astounding story,. It warms the heart and feeds the soul. The incident is a rare, and much like SWFL with M 15 and Harriet who had a Miraculous re-clutch in 2020 with E15 and E16 these occurrences are magnificent with divine power. I could not keep a dry eye when we you said farewell to Malala and Junior. They parents really are Mighty eagles and I mentioned 28 times in the Bible. I bless this eagle family today for their dedication, zest for purpose, and preparation for these two wonderful nedw raptor lives. I only met them through watching this video, as I write extensively for Southwest Florida and Big bear sites, and I’m already in love with them. May they both soar high and free, always have full crops, use the skills mom and dad showed them, and go on and have successful families of their own. Godspeed Malala and Junior this is beyond a blessing.🦅💝🙏

August 5, 2023 Thinking of Malala! Wondering how she's doing. If she was able to learn how to catch ground animals. Having to give up her fish diet. We will never know. I think she was lucky that the foster parents had one surviving chick only, otherwise that hawk would have been dinner, thank you for the video Sharron.
You are probably right, but sometimes the hormones can trigger off certain responses, for instance if the hawklet had been crying for food :) I followed the story of a hawklet adopted by BE with more than one chick, some time ago.

I wonder how this will effect Malalas mate choice in the future? I dont know anything about raptors but I know some birds will become imprinted and believe they are the species that raised them. Malala did imprint on her hawk parents first but I wonder if she'll try to pair with bald eagles?
Horrible job of putting this story together, no facts, no information, just cartoonish commentary. Some dates and actual facts would have been interesting, something simple like HOW LONG DID IT TAKE FOR THE RTH CHICK TO FINALLY START EATING?
That, in my humble opinion, is harsh and unjustified. It is just a synopsis, a tribute to commemorate the current season, with the extraordinary adoption of a hawklet, not a documentary analysing each single event.

It did happen with one hawk named "Spunky" a few years back and the eagles raised him up well. So likely very much it is rare when it happens.
