      @@jed_shred_guitars sucks big time with the prices of everything going up I'd be luck to afford a crap guitar smh but that Rhodes Jackson has the best tone in the world in my opinion and the fret action the neck is like butter keep the content comtyou should do a video playing on one and comparing the sound tone and stuff would make a great video

    I remember frequenting Guitar Center a lot in 89. Me and the rest of my band would go and hang out there, pass out flyers, etc. There was a huge guitar competition on a friday night. The place was packed. After the competition the place cleared out enough to be able to check out guitars. Thre was a display that was all US made custom shop Jackson guitars. This was when the granite finish was popular. There were several granite soloists with the one humbucker, one volume pot set up. There was a pink and black bullseye soloist like Eddie Ojeda from Twisted sister. Across from the Jacksons was an ESP display. That was the first me I got to play a real Kamikaze. There was a big sale on Charvel guitars that night. I went home with a Model 2 and a Predator. Thanks to Overnight shifts at Target. Lol! Good times. 89 was the last of the greatest years of my life.

    I want one of those "Professional" series that came out in 90 and were MIJ.
    Those things were insanely good for the money!
    Real MOP inlays and Logo, great fret work and a ebony fb.

    I’ve got an ‘84 Rhoads Student model (rosewood board with dots, my preference) with a Kahler and stock Duncan pickups, serial number is in the early 700’s. The paint was falling off the back of the neck in sharp shards and the points have a lot of damage, but it plays and sounds like an absolute dream.

    Cool, love the old Jackson’s. It’s got a really nice fretboard on it. The smaller headstock logo is second only to the early ones that look like a signature done all in one motion with a gold paint pen .

    Such a cool guitar, looking forward to seeing you clean it up. How does it play compared to your rr24m?

    • @jed_shred_guitars
      @jed_shred_guitars  2 роки тому

      The neck is very close to the same, it will setup to exact same specs, it’s about 8.5 pounds vs 7, acoustically louder and more balanced (rr24 is bright). This one has better sustain even though the rr24 is blocked. It’s just better and more aged wood. I like playing this one sitting down, and the 24 standing up. They are both absolutely keepers, and special in their own ways.

    Awesome! I think those are not the original frets, since they look like stainless steel frets. It might be the reason why they are in so good condition

    • @jed_shred_guitars
      @jed_shred_guitars  2 роки тому +1

      They are definitely not stainless, and are original. You couldn’t tell from watching the video but, The inlay filler sits about the surface of the board meaning it has never been leveled, there are no signs of chipout from removing frets, no other signs of a refret, and small frets were standard back then. If you check out the old catalogs from the 80’s smaller fretwire was the standard for Rhoads models back then. I also took care of the fret ends and sprout last night and they definitely aren’t as hard as stainless. I believe it is the 89 catalog that mentions special fret wire being made for Jackson.

    • @jed_shred_guitars
