Like in the episode Lexmas he didn't drop out of the race because he wanted to be able to save Lana if he needed to. He didn't want his kids motherless so he did what he thought he had to do to avoid that.
Lexmas was a dream.. but yeah, really Lana was the last straw before he went really evil. What isn't fair though is that Tess was killed later :P. They don't show him interacting with her before his "death." Maybe if he had a larger "familia" then he wouldn't turn so one-dimensionally evil at the end? I preferred the more "not totally evil/more human" lex. It's more realistic that way, anyways..
i thought that what happened in that dream concept was unfair. with the way Lex thinks, he will unquestionably choose to be able to save her. and honestly i believe even viewers wouldn't totally blame him. anyone who could foresee or believe they could foresee a future like that would not just accept it. it played on his fears and was unfair but the writers are trying to push the story along. the true point might have been to look at his father and mothers relationship and that he would become his father if he did choose money and power. i wanted him to have it all but he wasn't very good with people/relationships.
Christina Taft. I wanted to see him interact with Tess too. 7 years of emotional investment. the fans who loved his humanity or just loved to watch MB on screen. the point of the show was that he was destined to be totally evil. but worse yet, at least to me, was MB leaving the show prematurely. he quickly became the reason i watched.
