I love how Takashi Sasaki slows down then slightly speeds up the hi-hats. Incredible and hypnotic technique.
if only i knew people who would want to jam this hard. sasaki is a special kind of drummer
1979 live casiopea is a treasure
1:17 you're losing the heat in a police chasing in Amalfi, Italy. Lupin III is driving, the trunk is full of diamonds and paintings
damn I see why they didnt play this one live much. really demanding, bit faster than the studio version
Its not that they didn’t play it much. Every decently lengthed Casiopea performance back in the late 70s had this song as part of the set list. The problem is, the availability of these recordings which are undeniably rare. Swallow was already composed back in 1977. After Takashi Sasaki left, the song was only played later in the 1981 Cross Point tour from October to December 1981 as part of a medley. The arrangement is exactly the same as the 1983 Budokan medley, which of course was the last time the song was ultimately played.
ua-cam.com/video/TFsLqmSo3Pw/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared here's another live recording from 1978
It's weird how one of the best Fusion drummers really only played in a few records and then just dipped
What records was he on? Its hard finding any info on him. Also know of any other drummers who play like him?
There's some videos on UA-cam of him playing - it's nothing really like this, but he's still playing in Japan in bands.
ive been a huge fan of akira jimbo since forever, but once i discovered takashi sasaki, it unraveled more of the story of casiopea. taking nothing away from jimbo, their longest tenured drummer, a pillar of their legacy. but takashi sasaki, omg, what a beast !!! truly insane hihat work. their 1st 2 album compositions + his drumming really critical to helping them rocket up as THE fusion band of japan.
That keys harmony at the start of the guitar solo should've been in the studio version. So cool!
These guys early on were unreal, so young also which amazes me
This performance alone makes it the definitive Casiopea live bootleg
一番好きな曲で、一番好きなテイクです。
こんな音源があったなんて…ありがとうございます!
Sasaki's dynamics on the hihats are amazing, I'm quite blown away
how has nobody else mentioned how every aspect of Takashi Sasaki's playing is 10000% an emulation of Steve Gadd? Literally every lick he plays, all the hihat work etc. Its ironic how both him AND Akira Jimbo both used Steve Gadd drum grooves and licks for much of early Casiopea. I dont think Akira Jimbo developed a unique style of drumming until the late 80s, and then with Jimsaku in the 90's where he became absolutely OBSESSED with Latin rhythms. Gadd was doing it all with Chick Corea in the early to mid 70's.
CASIOPEAはやっぱりすごい!
My absolute favorite, wish it was played live more often though!
THANK you for uploading this separately this performance is fucking insane
I'm gonna play this in the middle of riots
sounds so good live
Thank you for this upload
Missed that one, damn it's outstanding. I wish they somehow made a part II to this album, it's that good. Thanks again for sharing Leader
Tremendous!

I could probably run faster as long as I got this song playing

At this point I'm truly scared of Takashi Sasaki
Hasn't been on an album in 40 years but we still fear
@@ootoot2152 but why tho???? He's such an amazing drummer 😭😭😭
@@Thegreatclamslamof93 By end of 1979 Issei Noro wanted to take the band in a softer sound direction than their debut. And Takashi Sasaki was unable to adapt and hold back his insanely fast and fill heavy style of playing. So he stayed with them until they found a new drummer who could still play their existing jazz fusion style but still hold back and play simple grooves, and they found Akira Jimbo.
Complex skill but still on tempo! Casiopea at its finest, as fast as their album cover (pembalap)
