I'm starting a new ritual. Before I start a new Maddy video, I'm going to open a craft beer. So I sat down next to the Christmas tree here in Connecticut and cracked open a new IPA. This beer was recommended to me just a few days ago. Watched the great video on the Billy Goat Trail. Very well done. I used to live just across the Potomac in Virginia. I'm farmiliar with the area and found it very interesting. I was so surprised because I've been to the Silver Diner! But OMG!;I almost fell over when I saw what you were drinking! I had just opened my first Loose Cannon IPA!!!
NO WAY!! THAT’S AMAZING, WHAT A COINCIDENCE! What did you think of it? I liked it, but I didn’t have a super strong opinion on it. I like IPAs the majority of the time. That’s also SO cool to hear about your ritual, too! Sounds like a really nice night in. And I’m glad you liked the Billy Goat Trail video! That was a great area
Love the videos and admire the goal. Now that you're headed to Virginia I recommend Devil's Backbone Brewing. Go to the Basecamp in Nelson County and not the Outpost in Lexington. They have camping on site. You could easily fit in one of the tent sites. Yes, Anheuser-Busch bought them several years ago but that just means they have more money to experiment with.
I actually filmed this back in November, but coincidentally I did end up getting DB beer! I was thinking about going to their base camp too but it was further away than I wanted to drive. I really hope I can get my youtube channel to where breweries and outdoor activity companies (what is mean is, campgrounds, outfitters, state parks, etc) will pay me to show off what they have to offer, and Devil’s Backbone would really be the ideal company to work with then!
My frying pan is smaller than that pot and I don’t have a lid that fits it! 🙈 It’s really my fault for not making an effort to get the right tools for the job!
Looked like a really nice morning with a lot of calm. I have to say you morning meal pot stickers. The phrase pot stickers would alone not make me want to cook it. They did not lie it lived up to it's name & stuck to the pot.
G,day Maddie In your reply an hour or two ago you asked where do I live? I'm in Queensland, west of Brisbane about 300 ks , between Dalby and Chinchilla. I have a small property called Dalanal. Unfortunately the last drought put me under, and now I only have the land which I am trying to sell. Alls good I get to travel more now in my van. And more time to watch U Tube, and found YOU !! Your the silver lining in my cloud! When I sell my Land I will move to the coast in South AUS and buy a house in town back down to where I was born on the edge of the desert. The future looks good for me, and things always turn out the way they were meant to be, we all find our place. Thanks for enquiring and once again all the best to you and yours. Bluey
That’s quite a journey! When I was in Australia I got to live in a van with some fellow backpackers and we went from Perth to Melbourne. Such a big, beautiful country with so much to see!
G,day Maddie Its Christmas, eve , eve here, if that makes any sense at all ?? And I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a Very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!! As usual your video was well shot and very interesting. The Crab Cakes looked delicious !! Expected to be 40 c here Saturday. So cold ham. Chicken. Salads. And Cherries, Mango, Apricots, grapes, pineapple, and Strawberry's, with Vanilla Ice Cream for dessert. Doing it hard in the Bush haha. Hope you are with your family and get lots of beautiful presents. So to you and yours, Be safe, have some fun and drink some beer. Bluey
Ah! Merry Christmas, Bluey! Reading this makes me miss the year I spent in Australia! I liked the warm weather but missed my family. But it sounds like you have the ideal feast planned and where better to enjoy it than the bush. Have I already asked you where you live?
Awesome! I hiked this trail just a few years ago with a friend. It was so much fun! Love watching your content and your current AT hike thru is great! You definitely inspire me to get out and do more adventures! Keep it up!
I like the way you are counting down the states as you visit them. I only lack West Virginia to complete the list of 50. That was a great hike, thanks for taking us along.👍Safe travels.🙂
Man,I thought the jersey rock trail looked rough,I can imagine I would need to be air lifted out of that one, thanks for letting us live vicariously through you.cant wait for the next one, keep on keeping on kiddo,ps do you have any plans for the next live feed? That was fun
Coincidentally, after Maryland, I went to Virginia where I did another trail with climbing over rocks!! What can I say, I just love that type of trail! As for a live feed, I’m planning to do one on Wednesday evening! I’m glad you asked, that made me realize I should announce it ahead of time!
Hey Maddie, you should invest in an Instant Pot pressure cooker. In that way, you can cook faster while doing something else. I love electric pressure cookers so much...
As a lifelong Marylander and crab lover I am horrified your first crab cake was at Silver Diner 😂😂😂! If there is a next time I know this was two years ago… Go to an actual seafood restaurant and always get them broiled. A good crabcake is like the best thing in the world and silver diner is certainly great for diner food not for crabcakes. But I’m glad you enjoyed it lol!
I filmed this in November, so I’m already though there, but the great news is I did do Old Rag!!! It was awesome! That video should be out right after new year, can’t wait for you to see it!
@@BeerinBeautifulPlaces Sweet! West VA is turning into a really fun destination to explore for me: Canaan Valley (Davis, WV), Dolly Sods, Seneca Rock - all pretty gorgeous hikes. Good luck w/ your channel - the East Coast is tough w/ all the private lands, but if there is a will, there is a way...
..well, her broccoli buzz damn near cost us a day and apparently it made the river sneeze 6:01. Dude I was so mad that guy sneezed so unnecessarily loud when I was filming. I took the same shot again but it wasn’t as smooth as the first one. Oh well, it just adds to the reality that there were other people on the trail!

Hi Maddie, very cool video. I always drive through Maryland and never stop. That seems like a nice trial I will put it on my list for my April road trip. Is the campground at the trail or near it?
You should!! I wish I had more time while hiking it to sit by the river and take it all in. And the campsite was Pennyfield Lock, maybe 20 minutes or so away from Billy Goat’s trail? It’s on iOverlander if you can’t find it on google maps

Thanks for virtual hiking in Maryland !
You’re very welcome, thank you for watching!!
I do Potstickers in a frying pan with some oil and some water. The water cooks them and boils away then they brown in the oil. Take care Maddie.

Great looking food and a great looking trail! Love me some Heavy Seas….

I’d say you earned every one of those crab cake carbs by hiking that trail/rock scramble!! Hope you’re enjoying the holidays with your family!
Yes they were delish! And yep, I’m back in my hometown now, staying with my parents for the holidays!
When I lived in Virginia I loved hiking the billy goat trail
Nice!!
I think George Washington crossed the PO TO MAC 😃 yes crabbbb cakes..great vlog Maddie...ty 💚

Buy some trekking poles (two). They are well worth the money.
I have em, but only use them when I’m backpacking! I can’t really explain why I don’t like them, I just don’t like having something in my hands
Mattie let me know when u come to TX...I love your channel. I'm in Fort Worth TX.
