The cat is trespassing and stealing your cat's food. This is hilarious. If they try to go the legal way you can file trespassing charges and sue for the stolen food and cleaning costs where the cat peed all over your house.

There was a guy in California who was told by his HOA to build a gate to hide his boat. He did so and commissioned an artist to paint a realistic picture of the view of the boat on the gates as if it was when there was no gate. Apparently the HOA couldn’t do anything about it.

Cat story: In my opinion it seems like OP's neighbor isn't a good pet owner; it is special when a cat chooses you though. Good for OP to ask reddit.

  • @merlinathrawes746
    @merlinathrawes746 2 місяці тому +20

Not my cat story: OP, for your landlord you can try to talk to him about increasing your pet deposit and a small increase to your rent. At least you're trying to keep up with the cleaning when it sprays. As for the neighbor, well people can sue anyone for pretty much anything if they're willing to pay the filing fees and are willing to accept the penalties of losing the case. It sounds like she's neglecting her poor cat, which is one of the reasons he's adopted you. Maybe you can set up a hidden camera showing her throwing the cat back out after you've returned it to her a few times. Depends on the laws in your state. You're doing as best you can otherwise by getting neighbors saying it's not your cat. Talk to your local Humane
Society about the cat situation and what you're allowed to do. Good luck.
UPDATES: Wow, that was a wild ride. Glad your father got you a lawyer. At least the poor cat got the medical attention it needed and is now in a good home as well. Sheesh!
Chef Petty stories: Well done sir. But I will say I PARTIALLY agree with the onion person. I prefer a SLICE of onion to having 2-3 rings of onion on my burgers/sandwiches. But I also prefer sweet onions to red, yellow or white onions.
Food story: A large man working a physically demanding job burns a lot more calories than a petite, small woman doing much less physically demanding work. She's attempting to be very controlling. Personally, I would have told her at the very beginning if she didn't make you adequate amounts of food you'd go elsewhere for your meals or just fix yourself food at home regardless of what she had prepared, then do so. I'd also tell her I agree with her about her being useless as far as preparing you your meals go. Let her get mad. Sometimes the truth hurts. Good luck.

With that last story: how much is SHE eating? Because the human body needs a certain number of calories per day, just to perform the simple task of living and breathing. Add any kind of physical movement to the equation, and that number spikes. Is she eating enough? What does she do all day? Even if she conserves all her energy, she has to spend some somewhere.

I didn't sere that part. The poor bub, I cannnot tolerate people who abuse animals, especially if they do it when they're out of the cute kitten/pup stage! My husband and I have planned on only adopting older/unwanted animals when the time comes. Our dog and two cats will be with us a while, I hope!
We also feed neighborhood strays. If we can catch them, we get our vet to scan for a microchip, if there is one, the vet will call them and take care of it. If none, my husband and I pay for the neuter/spay and try to find a home for it. My husband swears there's a neon sign in our yard that only cats can see that offers, food, shelter, water and love (if they want it! ) :)

As for the community service, in my county you can avoid trash pickup if you can find another government service in the county who is willing to assign and monitor your community service time. Got to meet amazing people and help build and paint the park bridge they had next to the hospital. I got such good reports from them to the probation officer that once I was done not only did the hospital cover my restitution they got them to release me 6 month early from probation. My probation officer believed me when I told him I was innocent but not much he could do when the system is not designed for the innocent child when your words carry zero weight. Worked nearly 2 decades in food service and never messed with a customer’s order intentionally… unless you count the revenge I got on a coworker who had previously spiked my burger with an insane amounts of jalapeños and other things. I warned him that there would be retribution and then bided my time.
He and his gf come into eat one night and he orders a grilled chicken taco. We made the taco by grilling the chicken and some onions and sliced peppers, lightly seasoning said peppers and onions… except that I dumped 3/4 of the seasoning from a *freshly opened* container over both the chicken and veggies, letting it cook into it and then spritzing it away with the oil we used to spray on the grill to make it presentable.
Cooked it a little more and run wrapped it up all nice and neat, and sent it off to him… and then stood near the end of the counter to enjoy the reaction. Apparently there’s a lot of salt in the seasoning. When he complained, I reminded him about his treatment of my food and we called it even, though neither one of us would make the others food order.
I definitely did some petty things like the one story though, like the one lady who wanted “extra pickles” on her burger. I asked her to define what she meant, and she said “as many as I could fit on there.” Ok… bet.
We had these small styro cups for gravy and I crammed *so many pickles* into that cup… I think I got at least 40 in it. Gingerly deposited said pickles onto the burger, capped it with the burger and bottom bun, and wrapped it and sent it on its way.
Not even 2 minutes later I literally hear a shrill “WTF!?” from said customer who calls me over to the table to complain about the sheer amount of pickles. Situation was quickly de-escalated when I pointed out that I had done *exactly* as I had been instructed to do… and her friend was laughing hysterically over it.

That last one needs to take his wife with him to the doctor or a dietician and have THEM explain he needs more food then she is providing. It may just be that she has a low metabolism and honestly thinks that's all the food an adult needs because it's all SHE can eat without putting on weight. She probably also needs HER health assessed if she always eats like that, she may have a low thyroid.
She sounds OCD to me. My first stepmom used to measure and weigh every ounce of food and drink she gave us.
She would give us EXACTLY a cup of cereal with exactly ½ cup of milk and 4 ounces of juice for breakfast each morning.
Our lunch bag had a sandwich with exactly 1 Tbsp of peanut butter and 1 Tbsp of jelly, carefully spread to the edges. Exactly a dozen grapes or ½ of a banana. 1 stalk of celery cut in sticks or 1 carrot cut in sticks, and a quarter for a carton of milk. She always insisted we choose white milk (she said it was healthier), but of course we always chose chocolate instead.
She didn't limit our supper because Daddy was there, and when he was around she considered us HIS responsibility to deal with. Needless to say, that marriage only lasted a few months..... they were divorced before their first anniversary.

OP is not the AH but needs to be honest and tell her it's harming him and that she is doing wrong by him because she's not making enough food to sustain him. Keep telling her she's doing nothing wrong and she's going to continue to do what she's doing. Hopefully she's not as unintelligent as she's acting. Otherwise she needs help. Just because she stock to her strict barely eating anything diet doesn't mean it's healthy and it definitely isn't healthy for OP

Boat vs Karen story: OP, you and your parents were lucky in your HOA. In far too many of them the Karens get control of the HOA to impose THEIR rules, regardless of the actual CC&R's.
HOA vs mobile home: Good grief! Karen is damned lucky the mobile home wasn't damaged in the move. You need specialty trucks to move a mobile home. In many cases with mobile homes, once they are sited, the owners take the wheels off. having the home placed on blocks, in some cases on an actual foundation. But they also would have had to disconnect all the plumbing and wiring before moving it as well. And oh boy, did the HOA ever lie to their own lawyer about what was going on. I hope he resigned from that position.

Call animal control tell them it's not your cat but your neighbors and that she doesn't take care of it. Let them take it back over to her and when they see her toss it right back out they can take the cat or they can turn the cat over to you to be cared for. And that right there would be considered legal ownership

  • @GaurdianPrime

Title story is total BS. I say this AS a Mobile Home Owner and Manufactured Housing Development Resident.
When Manufactured/Mobile Homes are installed the frame is set on concrete blocks (and leveled), the tires removed, the axles and tongue disconnected (and sometimes scrapped), multiple anchor straps installed for stability, grounding cables and rods put in, and the GAS, ELECTRICITY and OTHER UTILITIES need to be connected. All of which would need to be reversed to pull out a Mobile Home without demolition. (step order for demolition changes, but all still apply)
It is usually ILLEGAL for anyone other than an APPROPIATELY LICENSED PROFESSIONAL to handle such connections and disconnections since several utilities involve elements that are potentially dangerous and/or life threatening if mishandled. Electricity, risk of electrocution; Gas, fire/explosion hazards; Sewer, Biohazard.
The odds of arranging for ALL of this to happen in the single day the poster claims to have been away? Logistically, highly unlikely bordering impossible.
The odds of a Mobile Home being moved and all the unsecured items inside being undamaged due to falls from inertia, impossible. Meaning there should have been Criminal Vandalism charges for anything damaged.
Also, the stealing of a Mobile Home would fall under Grand Larceny due to a house being over $1,000 in value. Grand Larceny may result in: You may face 10 to 20 years in prison, a fine between $20,000 and $100,000, or both if the property is valued at between $5,000 and $35,000, or the property is: An explosive or trade secret, A schedule I or II controlled substance, or. A firearm.
The story claiming she received no jail time? HIGHLY unrealistic. Especially if OP either owned a gun that was stored in the house or, had certain Prescription Medications.

Male cats spray to mark territory. When they are fixed they are less likely to spray. It is rare for the males when fixed to stop spraying all together but it does happen. Also, you have a female cat, not all female cats stop going into heat when they are fixed. The fact that she did not have her cat fixed and tossed him outside should have been reported to the Humane society in your area. Also, report all that she has done to them, if you had done that, the Humane Society would not let her have the cat. She was training her cat to become feral. I ended up with two cats because a neighbor got them from the HS and found out their mother was allergic to them so they got tossed out for the neighborhood to take care of them. One day one of them got sick so I went to the neighbor and told them so but they just said, "You can have them" so i took them to the vet and got them updated on their shots plus medicine for the sick one. Living in a college town you have students who get puppies and kittens and don't realize just how much work and training you have to do. And when the puppy or kitten grows up, they aren't as cute anymore so they are booted out. Or they have to move and can't take the animal with them so they leave it behind.

Most HOA's are benevolent organizations and actually do good things. You almost never hear about the good ones. They organize the neighborhood to keep common areas like, for example, the central clubhouse, neighborhood pool or condo building maintained. When entitled, narcissistic, OCD, greedy, stubborn, criminal, A-hats get to be in charge then there are problems.

HOAs aren't the government they can't make laws they can only make rules. Press charges against the cat for trespassing and stealing your 🐈 cat's food 😂😆. Your neighbor is responsible for it, tell her next time you will call animal control. In my area it's $65 to get the pet back after being picked up. Neighbor will get tired of that cost 10-20 times a month. You can bet it's spraying her house too which is why she wants it outside, probably due to not being spayed or neutered (I don't know which is for male animals). Soon she will keep it indoors or it will be with a new owner who actually cares about it

  • @paul16451

I don't know where the cat story took place, but most areas of the US do not have cat leash laws. Therefore if the cat damages anything, the only person responsible to fix it is the one who owns the damaged property, regardless of who actually owns the cat. OP did the right thing treating it as feral for TNR, but nobody in the story could have been successfully sued for damages the cat caused.

The person calling a manufactured home a mobile home, they aren’t the same thing. Mobile homes are on steel rails making them a trailer, aka mobile. Manufactured homes are traditionally built and not really any different then any other house other then the sizes being picked specifically for the ability to move it to it’s permanent location.

Letting an unfixed male cat run wild alone is shameful pet owner behavior. Unfixed males mark way more, and cat urine is infamously difficult to remove. On top of that, he's probably helping populate any stray cat communities around. On top of all the other info in the story, the cat owner is not fit for pet ownership.

Cat story sounds familiar, if a cat doesn't want to leave, it won't! I have a neighbor-cat just like it and have installed a catdoor that works with a chipreader and only opens for my cats. So at least he doesn't come in my house anymore, as he also sprayed here and there, ruining stuff. Besides, good catfood isn't cheap, and I'm not willing to pay for someone else's cat. The neighbor also does absolutely nothing to keep the cat contained more at her place. Just tosses it out about 24/7 as she is barely even home herself. She couldve made at least some sort of shelter for her cats in the shed she has. Put a cat door in, some catbeds and some food, but no... there is absolutely nothing there for those poor cats. So they roam the neighborhood and steal food from other catowners. And i would've fed them, but my cats do not like that one cat and get stressed out, so I try my best to keep him away, but to no avail as he is in our yard daily. At least he can't get in my house anymore. Since his owner isn't paying for any damages because of the spraying either, nor will she pay for all the food he's been eating previously. Ps I live in the Netherlands, its pretty common to see cats outside here, as we don't have big predatory animals roaming around, like bears, coyotes and such. They're relatively safe here. My cats don't really go beyond our own yard, so I am thinking of completely making it cat-proof, so no others can come in and my cats can have some peace and quiet in their own yard.

The wife might be trying to get the husband on a diet. Instead of confrontation, women will often use tactical phrasing and such to let men think something is “their” choice or decision. A couple of guys I know will also do this in a non-confrontational way of getting their wives on diets. That and inviting them to go on hikes.
