Great channel, good real life welding 👍 top skills. I would like to be able to try a root pass width 3.2mm wire. We don’t get 3.2mm GTAW here, do you think it helps for the bottom 6 o’clock portion of the root for better penetration?
Hey bud thanks for your comment. Not really, it all depends, from what you most comfortable with and the most important thing is “Gap” . I wasn’t involved in preping or tacking this joint, I prefer using 3/32 wire for the root pass. You just have to dial in and find good inclination for your filler wire.
Glad to have you back man! 👍🏽 Your videos have been really motivational to me to learn the tig welding, which is really hard and demanding. Thank you for all the tips and explanations! 💪🏽😊
Thank you brother for your comment and support, I really appreciate it. People like you are my motivation to keep welding and making more videos. Good bless 🙏
Watching your videos has really opened my eyes I've always lowered my juice for the bottom part on positional butt welds, I've always been told up to now if your juice is to high on the bottom you will get undercut/ concavity if am doing a 3"stainless butt in 5g am on 80 from the bottom up past the sides then 90-100 for the top half, main reason for this tho 9 times out of 10 with stainless your gap tends to close in
Hey man just found your channel, really informative and awesome. I am a complete newbie, strating my welding school next week and its really great to see experienced guys showing what its actually like in the field so a big thanks for that!
Great content and great delivery of information.. I always learn something about our craft that I did not know before when I watch your videos. Thank you for posting your work.
I really like your video we can feel the focus on that ! I also like your 3M welding mask p100 Pancakes. i make my research and i cant find exactly the same that you have. Can you leave here a link that i can use to buy mine. Thank you !🙂
I have found the same thing as you about welding 6oclock to the top for stainless to start with. from time to time I have to start at the bottom but in those rare situations I put quite a few holes in the tape at 12oclock and the purge tube at the bottom. i never thought about using the metallic duct tape for the purge. they just handed me painters tape and said go. either way it's going to stick to the back of my glove and roll up as I weld.
Thanks for your comment, I was using aluminum tape, I find it better than painters tape as doesn’t leave much glue on the pipe when got hot , but as you said, either way it will stick to the gloves at some point 👍
Sim mestre observei que com essa bexiga inflável torna bem melhor o trabalho na isolação do oxigênio bem prático gostei é uma bela apresentação de raíz e reforço obrigado pela orientação 🙏
Hey man can you help me out on the welding mask, where can I find it? Because I searched the whole internet but I can't find that particular one of yours.... I found only masks with the big screw on filters... The mask you have got the small p100's.... Would be a good/better option than a monkey face. Thanks in advance, your videos really help me understanding big bore and heavy wall pipe welding. Thanks a lot man😎💪
Hello sir, you have really mastered your skill, and i have learned a whole lot, i will be going for a text on 6g position soon, pls sir can you make a video for 6g position? I will be really greatful 🎉
Is there SS root process can be weld by direct,i mean like making carbon steel root just maintain to supply without waiting for the key hole ..cause i see other video they use that kind of skill and very well nice root 👍
How’d you break out welding? I got my structural welding down but I’m having a hard time trying to break into pipe, was thinking about going to school to learn tig since my company doesn’t work with tig pipe, only big bore stick
Hey Nathaniel, thanks for your question. Structural welding in all positions is base line for switching out to pipe stick welding. Once you get really good at structural welding, shouldn’t be any problem to apply your skills to pipe. Overhead and vertical is where you need to focus more on controlling your puddle, that is most tricky part for pipe in 6G. TIG is little bit different story as it’s less beginners friendly, but if you willing to learn it will take some time, and the best way to learn is to start in 6G rite away. More you burn more you’ll learn 💪
@@X3MTIGso I ended up going to school not long after my comment, finished a 9 month field combo course (tig pipe, stick pipe, stick plate) in two months. Those years of burning stick rods paid off and got in and busted ass to finish but I always come back to reference your videos. Appreciate all you do, that freehand on the bottom was gnarly. Greetings from Louisiana 🤘🏻
Nice welding but I think you need to invest in a better purge set up you see that theres coking in the weld from lack of purge gas in alot of industries that won't be exceptable I'm guessing your doing sanitary pipe ? I'm guessing steam or water. As if it's for product I know in my country they won't except it great technique
😂He is working for different companies as he is a field welder, therefore he can’t choose the equipment or the tools at various sites. 🙄 So, imagine, how good one needs to be to actually work with those outdated tools and equipment!!
Hey man I went to school for like pipe welding and got really good at welding carbon and stainless TIG pipe and I’m having such a very hard time finding a job that welds Stainless or just regular carbon pipe. I’m in Houston to so I know there are some it’s just I can’t seem to find the right places any tips?
Hey bud, only advice I can give you is to be patient, and wait for your opportunity, but also be ready for it. Keep applying for jobs you would like to do, and once you get opportunity, you have to prove yourself, so they’ll remember your name. It takes years to build your reputation, and name, once you reach that point, your phone will be ringing daily with job offers. But remember; you have to be top, or close to the top 🔝.
Argon is heavier than air, that’s why it’s easier for you… I always recommend a mixed shielding gas, argon/helium/co2 as an example ✌️ Oh and your purge time drops extremely, I’d say about 2 minutes for this job
