So I tried Mount Pain on UV for the first time. 3 hours later and I'm scarred for life. I use to laugh at your misery in this video, but after going through that, well, I'm sorry. I'm so so sorry. I'll say this though, it is a hell of a rush and that outdoor sequence would be much fairer if not for the Lost Souls.
I think the four lost souls may be inaccessible on a purpose. In the original, the lost souls did not count towards the kill percentage, if I remember correctly. Their teleporting makes that green/yellow flashing light, making the mountain of pain look more menacing. Therefore, I believe that some of the lost souls were made to teleport all the time in order for the mountain to look more hellish.
I've been playing along while watching your walkthroughs (Ultimate Doom, Doom II, and this one). You've been so thorough, charming, informative, and fun. Then I get to Mount Pain and I've been bursting out laughing the entire time watching this. You actually said "SHIT!! What the hell am I supposed to do?!?!" on your own walkthrough. I love your videos, man. This is definitely my favorite. Looking forward to playing along with you in Plutonia!
Nah, lost souls in the last area never bothered me that much, just keep moving around and they won't hit you. Mount Pain is my second favourite map in TNT (the first one being Map14 because of the music). It's very challenging and has an epic feel to it almost like it's a final level. Somewhat close to Map32 "Go 2 It" from Plutonia (which is my favourite map in Plutonia as well :P).
I'll never forget how many times I've died on this level, still probably in my top 5 favorite levels though. When I first got to the outside area I had to look around, I was looking at the giant mountain, then all of a sudden I was surrounded by lost souls. I was like where the fuck did they come from!? Lesson learned I guess
Holy shit...! I cannot imagine the physical and mental anguish you must have been putting yourself through in order to finish this shit. I could fucking feel it in your voice the entire time through. You sir, forever have my admiration as a Doom player. *salutes*
Just finished TNT for the first time, on the Hurt Me Plenty difficulty as with all my blind Doom playthroughs. Haven't tried it on Ultra-Violence just yet, but am I the only one who actually LIKED Mount Pain? 1) The large-scale shootouts in a lot of open spaces with cover was a step up from the constant wandering around trying to find objects, having to solve puzzles, and getting trapped in small corridors from the previous maps. This was nothing but a tense combat map, and gave you a lot of ways to take each wave out. Kinda like Surface Tension from Half-Life. 2) There could be about 70 million Imps in this game. It was a little refreshing to see other enemies like Arachnotrons and Revenants for once, despite how deadly they might be. But again, open spaces with plenty of cover. 3) The music is awesome. XD
Hey BigMacDavis. I have a good strategy for this level. I save the invulnerablility for the ending part, just to kill the revenants and arch vile. when I get to the open area with the pit. I use the radiation suit while it is active I run around shooting rockets killing revenants and chain gunners. then take my time killing the lost souls. also for the area where the invulnerablility is in the big circular room if you ignore the enemies and run up the stairs the enemies won't be able to get out to not being able to fit and so I just peek a boo shoot the enemies with the double barrels shotgun considering there is heaps of ammo near the starting area. I was able to complete mount pain no problems using these strategies.
If there will ever be an online course like ' How to make a dramatic walk through video' for new youtubers, this video must be as the prime example in it. Gripping from start to finish. 👍👊🤘❤
I really like these walkthroughs. I've just been getting into playing classic Doom, and your commentary reminds me a lot of how I would commentate a game I know a lot about too.
That moment where he took a rocket to the face with those Imps and just lost his cool, that was funny as hell. Though I completely understand the pain he's in.
In the room with archvile, you had to jump up to him and shoot him in the face with a BFG. After that, hide behind the mountain, take the missiles and finish off the others. I really liked this map, it also took me 30 minutes to complete it on Ultra-Violence Plus
13:55 - That feeling when you have a dangerous weapon out and you reactively fire a shot that's waaaay closer than you'd like it to be. URGH. I hate that feeling... Man, you were so nervous this run! I know the feeling of having to do the same map over and over, especially one I don't like, but... hey, you beat it! Hitscanners in an arena - especially without a blursphere - are total BS.
Other problem with the huge maps. Is very hard to design a good map this big. There's one example, my personal favorite map 29 of Plutonia "Odissey of Noises" that is huge and funny all the way through, but it was made by a very skillfull designer, or designers I should say, the Casali Bros. You must be almost an artist to design a huge map and make it good and funny. You were lucky that you were able to kill two of the outside cacodemons from the window. I' ve never think about it, but I guess you can convince someone to be next to you when you are outside, and make that someone count the lost souls killed
Wow BigMacDavis, out of all the maps so far, this one had me on edge with ya. I'm surprised I didn't start sweating just seeing you play this map. 4 inaccessible lost souls, way unfair. Limited health, reminds me of E6M7 of Wolf3d. The end with you and the archvile and the chaingunner, wicked! 332 enemies, whoa! Incredible job man.
Dude I just played this map yesterday, LOVED that bit with the Revenant on the left the Arch Vile on the right and the mancubus firing down at you. They got you covered from every angle if you're INSIDE the elevator when it closes - which I had to be because I skipped the room full of kills before, just bolted for the elevator and got in. I had to leap onto the revenant's cliff and fight him around the mancubus pedestal BEFORE dealing with the archvile. Was fun! Great setup to wrap up a map!
Hi Shaneful Display. That is perfect monster placement. Other map makers need for the last section 10 Revenants in front of you, five Hell Knights behind you and the best an arachnotron left and right of you that appear from some suddenly open rooms. Drake O' Brien needs just 3 or 4 well placed enemies to set you in heavy danger. I find that okay. What you see is what you get. Haha.😄
@@ajackofdiamonds I see it like you but you know that we are walking on thin ice when we talk in a good sense about mount pain. Many chain gunners with a nervous triggerfinger around here. Haha.!😂😂
can anyone else get through this man pretty well now. I've practiced this map for a couple of week now and I've got it all figured out just great. made it through on UV 3 times consecutive
8:35 in the video, I actually used the invulnerability to my advantage with the berserk and just punched the Revenants to death, saving ammo, just something I tried and thought of while following your walkthrough and did
You are an epic player BMD! And you inspired me to play and beat this level myself. Well actually all of TNT so I eventually ended up here. Took forever to beat it, and I only got 93% kills, but I'm happy to have beaten it. Finally. And in my case, while also running Brutal Doom. Talk about difficult!
At 14:08 we ain't having this shit happen.....Best response I think that could have been given! Cracked me up right there. Having similar happen to me in DOOM as well I feel your pain. Great run though regardless of the accidental rocket. I have been thoroughly enjoying all of these, you are a damn good DOOM slayer BigMacDavis!
Hi BigMacDavis, First, my congratulations for getting through this place on the Ultra-Violence difficulty. Overcoming the area is no easy feat, and so you did very well to get through this and share your victory with us! I have completed Mount Pain on Ultra-Violence many, many times previously, but it is one of those places that just simply does not seem to become any easier - it is with great difficulty to get used to it, no matter how many times I venture through. Furthermore, as I mentioned on another video, I play on the "fast monsters" setting, which effectively increases the difficulty further. This is due to monsters often attacking the player almost immediately when spotted and attack more relentlessly. In addition, many enemy projectiles travel quicker (like imp fireballs) and monsters move faster. You can imagine how lost souls behave on this setting, too! I do have a few strategies that I will happily outline to make Mount Pain a little easier in future attempts. First, when you reach the "Disaster Area", before you run up the wooden stairs that lead you out of there, you can actually lure the chaingunners to the bottom of the stairway (or even prior to the stairs emerging altogether) while taking cover at either side outside of the stairway from the bottom, if necessary. You may even provoke them to fight each other on the stairway from down there. Doing this avoids prematurely opening the brick wall behind you, avoids alerting the army of revenants and demons the wall conceals, and it avoids potentially sustaining heavy damage when running back down for the invulnerability sphere. Instead, once the 3 stairway chaingunners are killed, run up the stairs WITHOUT firing, and then open the wall door blocking your way. As soon as you are outside the top of the stairway, you may alert the revenants and demons and use the revenants to kill many of the demons down below if you manage to provoke in-fighting from upstairs. However, before this, note that the now released large army of imps at the other end will be able to spot you when you reach the top of the stairs to begin with, so engage them FIRST with your BFG (after you lure them a little closer for each BFG shot to be most effective). The best way to fight these imps is to run to their corridor, wait outside at any side of the corridor (using them as cover) where the imps are contained and then fire about two BFG shots once they are close enough. You may then use a few rockets or shells to finish off the residual imps. Doing this prevents you from even having to run down that corridor altogether and putting yourself in a precarious situation to use the BFG once there. DO NOT worry about the revenants from previously while you are engaging the clusters of imps, as the revenants cannot leave the wooden stairway, and the demons are confined to the lower portion of the stairway. Once done with the imps, return to the stairway that should now be swarming with most of the 9 revenants and use one or two BFG shots on them from close range. Just be careful with the odd revenant wanting to fire if far enough from you, or from the stunned revenants after you release each BFG blast. If you're not comfortable using the BFG on them, simply use your super shotgun, as there is an ample supply of shells all over this place, especially at the beginning. All of this saves you from using that invulnerability sphere. Next, still in the Disaster Area, once you finish off all of the revenants and demons on the stairway, go for the red keycard inside the area that contained the revenants and demons. Once you do, this will allow the chaingunners and 3 revenants to teleport into the large room, in front of the stairway. Instead of running from the red keycard section upon their arrival, use that room to fight these enemies one-by-one. Ideally, you can strafe back and forth as needed between the boundary of the red keycard room and the teleporting area to fight them as they approach you from their teleporting section of the larger room (this can be tricky, but it is not too difficult to keep peeking, taking cover and shooting from that room while using it as cover). It is best to use the slow-rate fire of the chain gun from afar to kill the teleported monsters, and then taking cover as necessary (especially from any heat-seeking revenant missiles). Wait around for a little while to ensure that all of the enemies have teleported in. And you should still now have an unused invulnerability sphere (save this for a little later - read on below). :) The third piece of advice that I would give is related to the first partial invisibility sphere. Once you obtain the blue key, go collect the initial partial invisibility sphere at the other end. Once collected, run back to the other end, to the blue key door, open it, and then open the next door, behind which is that centrally-placed mancubus. Instead of killing the centrally-placed mancubus, run to either the door to the right or left of him. Quickly open the door, and shoot the shotgunners and zombiemen inside while in that hallway (they should have a hard time shooting you about half of the time with the invisibility), carefully waiting for others to show up in the distance. This is a bit tricky to do , but not necessary. I just like to save the mancubus to kill at least two of the cacodemons that come out after you collect the yellow key. Of course, there is so much ammunition provided that you do not even require the mancubus to begin with and, thus, you can freely kill the 4 cacodemons yourself later on. That said, I would council killing the cacodemons much more safely from outside their room, from the hallways. In this case, you are free to use the invisibility, as outlined previously, without the pressure of the mancubus firing at you from behind (and risking taking a hit) while you are trying to enter the first hallway section more conservatively with it. Finally, for that last part with the arch vile, which is arguably the real "Disaster Area". What you should do here before even opening that metal door that leads to that nightmarish part, is first press either of the switches to allow the platform to rise (after you lower it first, of course). As it rises, CAREFULLY stand at the edge of the rising platform nearest to the metal door (please do not fall off the lift, or else you'll put yourself in a very dangerous situation). Doing this prevents the platform from rising all the way up, as you are blocking it at the ceiling. Now, once the lift rises, and you are blocking it from completely rising, take out your rocket launcher, point in the general direction of the chaingunner's ledge. Then, OPEN the metal door while the platform is still stuck (make sure that the door is COMPLETELY OPEN) and fire as many rockets as possible in the direction of the chaingunner before the arch vile tries to cast its spell. The logic here is that once you temporarily block off the lift, you actually become aligned with the height of the chaingunner's ledge. If you are successful, the chaingunner will have been killed by at least one of the rockets fired, leaving the arch vile on the right. ***Note that once the arch vile initiates its spell, that is your signal to retreat/push back and allow the lift to finish its ascent (or else you might be (violently) struck by the arch vile if you stick around too long on the lift)). Therefore, once the metal door is open, you have a very limited amount of time to kill the distant chaingunner before the arch vile initiates its attack. Now, the next step is to lower the lift while you are at the top this time (i.e. use the grey lever-like switch at the top to lower the platform). Note that you might want to wait for and kill the two lost souls that eventually come out, as they can be a nuisance. Once done, run back to the actual Disaster Area. Recall the invulnerability sphere that is still available for use. Take it, and race back to the arch vile as fast as possible, using the lava/magma pit to cut corners and shorten the running path (remember that the lift is lowered). This requires a good run in order to maximize the duration of the invulnerability by the time you reach the arch vile, but just make sure you have the route figured out to the arch vile before taking the invulnerability sphere (this part is still nerve-wracking, especially considering all that you will have gone through by the time you reach this point). Have your rocket launcher ready. If done quickly, you should have just enough invulnerability time left to kill the annoying and dangerously placed arch vile. If you feel like you are running out of time before you can kill the arch vile, simply raise the platform. After this, you may then engage the mancubus and 2 revenants to the left MUCH more safely. :) ****Another and possibly safer/easier option would be to use the invulnerability to kill the revenant to the lower left and quickly run onto that ledge (or run onto the ledge and kill the revenant), taking cover behind the mancubus platform. After that, you could safely kill the arch vile at the other end, the revenant on the higher ledge, and the mancubus above. Once done, you are free, but still be on guard for any outstanding lost souls. As a final note, you can actually make your way back up to the entrance from that arch vile section, if you would like, as the right-hand/arch vile island in there has its own slowly-moving lift to backtrack, as well as one at the entrance. Return and replenish your ammunition. If at all possible, try to save the single-health bonuses to boost and maximize your final health total by the end of the level (maximum of 117%) in preparation for the next one, although it is not necessary. I would also save the berserk pack for later, when you are most likely to be low on health. I hope this helps! ~Trav.~
@@Rain1290 Not at all. It was all clear. I actually plan on livestreaming TNT again at some point, and I will remember these strategies, so thank you. :)
@@BigMacDavis You're very, very welcome, and I look forward to that TNT playthrough that you are planning! If you have any questions along the way, know that I am more than happy to answer! I'll also probably comment on other levels that you have posted already whenever I can. :)
@@BigMacDavis I just played over this level again and discovered a few additional useful techniques to really save some stress. I incorporated these additional strategies as edits in my previously lengthy description, so feel free to refer to those whenever you can (and especially when you decide to attempt this again). :) EDIT: Actually, it might be too long to insert there. I will simply post it here: ****Yet another useful and possibly even simpler method would be to alert and kill the lower-left revenant while at the top (not from magma/lava pit level), on the ledge near the grey lever that lowers the platform. From up there, you should have just enough space and distance to view and shoot the revenant safely. After it has been killed, you can actually quickly run onto its island and rapidly take cover behind the mancubus platform. After this, you may fight the arch vile with little worry from there, especially if you managed to previously kill the distant chaingunner on the ledge with the method described previously. Doing this avoids having to run back for the invulnerability sphere to handle this section and, therefore, opens other venues to use it earlier on instead. Once done, you are free, but still be on guard for any outstanding lost souls. Cheers, ~Trav.~
I LOVED this map! And I loved watching BMD struggle through it (sorry)! For those purists out there who want 100% kills without having to use IDCLIP, I managed to kill the final four Lost Souls using rockets while standing in the exit zone. It took 20-30 rockets to get them all, but worth it for the 100% kills without cheating.
Mt. Pain: Has multiple stimpacks and even a berserk pack just lying around. Everyone: Fvcking hate it! Stop giving me this absolute shit! Hell Beneath: Only has 9 health bonuses. Everyone: It's a great opening map, a great challenge and introduction to the episode indeed.
You put it that way I can definitely see your point. The hardest points in Mount Pain are at the end of the map, and if you're doing a no save run, it can be frustrating when you die there. It's like playing through Hell Beneath twice without saving.
@@BigMacDavis Legend had it he still responds to comments 7 years later. Didn't disappoint. But yeah, you're right, that last area had an ugly design, was stupid and unfair. Much better without lost souls, and if it was actually in the outdoors area, with the mountain in an inaccessible area. But that's just my opinion...
In the last room, when you said you weren't sure if you could get back, and so you left the Energy Cell behind, you can in fact get back. The entrance has a ridiculously slow moving lift, just like the one you took, and then you can strafe-jump to that platform from the entrance where you fought all the enemies.
This map is indeed a BIG PAIN in the ass!! I got whipped for than ten times even I'm so careful just like what you did here ***** until I used IDDQD with some marines backing me (BTW, I'm playing this with Brutal Doom) just to finish this map.
6-5 years ago I used to say that TNT was my favorite of the two, but after playing several great iwads and replaying both TNT and Plutonia again I realize... what the hell was I thinking back then? Both games are hard, but I feel TNT is hard for the wrong reasons, Plutonia is very consistent all the way through with loads of action packed maps that are short and well designed, meanwhile TNT starts out alright but the later half of the game becomes so tedious... huge levels with massive open areas, dumb secrets on Habitat, oddly hidden kills (and the broken ones in Dead Zone where you gotta get a cacodemon or lost soul outside of the map to wake up the hidden caco and pain elemental), LOOOONG AND SLOW ELEVATORS!, etc, with Mount Pain being the cherry on the top, lost souls make the last section one of the most frustrating gameplay experiences in Doom. So yeah I wouldn't say TNT is a terrible game but it definitely is my least favorite out of all the classic doom games nowadays.
Same but at the same time it's so absolutely wild in level ideas that I really enjoyed beating it for the first time. I just don't think I'll be revisiting it. I managed mount pain with pistol start after only a few attempts. With some clever rad suit management you can make the last area very consistently doable.
@@dopaminecloud Me too, I always go for pistol starts since it feels challenging and exciting, Mount Pain is one of those levels where you gotta have a plan on how to use the radiation suits, not wasting time and knowing the map layout, another example of this is E4M6 for Ultimate Doom
Speechless, you play amazingly well. Even when choking on snot, incredible. Seriously it is a crazy map, in the 90s, I only played doom 1, épisode 1, and thought it was tough! At 42, I discover awesomeness of Doom 😊😊 I had no idea evilution or the plutonia experiment, which i'll play for the 1st time in my life soon, existed
Hah, though it is very infrequent I still like to dust off and play the old Doom games when I was a kid. I played Mount Pain today and always get a kick out of this video. I actually like the stage and in general with Doom try for 100% items/kills/secrets but some stages I still have no idea where some secrets are and I get to the point where I'm ready to move on, and I only play on the default difficulty. For your objective here though for 100% everything and no saving, I get perfectly that this stage is an absolutely pain (no pun intended). I enjoy going through your walkthrough videos every now and then. If it makes you feel better, I died in the outside room from an annoying Lost Soul colliding with a rocket too close to me. :P
Big Mac you will be amazed to hear that I officially finished the level for the first time on ultra violence difficulty didn't die once at 25:08 i accidentally raised the elivator and i was sealed in the room and i was unable to use it so I then with no way out but forward, i put my strategy to the test and it worked I took out the arch vile with 2 hits with the BFG but at a cost. That Bastard got me and then the chain gunner brought my health down to 1% and lady luck kissed me on the lips and told me to jump to right platform and got a medkit, then a sneaky lost sould ambushed me and dropped my health to 4% was able to take out the revenant and chaingunner with plasma gun without taking anymore damage and made it with 4% health this level was very challenging and enjoyed every second of it my adrenaline was in clutch mode the whole way. I can say now i have done it, couldn't have done it without you Bigmac without your strategy but mixed it with mine definitely my favorite map even though it's extremely unfair this map will always hold a special place in my heart and will never forget that part where I jumped to the right platform at 1% and got a medkit the was badass luck Lol. After I jumped to the giant square I said to myself, I did it now time to get the Hell out of this map. And I got 97% kills, 100% items and, 100% secrets at least I survived thats all that matters.
Even after about 10 years since my first time playing it (and now with mods like Project Brutality, Complex Clusterfuck and Guncaster Vindicated), this is still by far my absolute favorite map throughout the 4 WADs No, I'm not being sarcastic. I'm 100% serious. I love this map
After completing this map I especially came here to see how you did this in one go. I died many times in this map. Not a lot of unfair traps, but a LOT of EVERY enemy. I do like the map though (except for the lost souls at the end... they are just there to harass you).
I would shorten the toxic mud tunnels and remove the small windows on the outside area. That way the lost souls can't get in. Then, I would make the exit different, so that you can traverse the outside area more. Only then can the mass of lost souls attack. Maybe replace them with 4-6 pain elementals so the map name had even more meaning.
I feel your pain, BigMacDavis. I really do. So many Ass Souls, so many Chaingunners, so much Revenants, and to top it all off, an Arch-Vile here to wallop you. You started off good, and I got some laughs; but almost halfway to the end, you didn't know that the imps were near you and you got a rocket to the face. The level walloped you so many times, and when you're almost at the end, when you're very low on health and ammo and almost dead, I felt like crying along with you, with tears of torture. This video is over 30 minutes long, and having "Into the Beast's Belly" played in the background doesn't help either. Thank God that this hellish level is finally over. I'm crying tears of grief and joy at the same time. :'(
Talk about a sign of relief. You just finished one of your least favorite and not to mention a fucking bitch of a map in TNT and now you get to do you favorite map in TNT....... I'm so happy for you ^^
7:30 Disaster Area are a plutonium rock band from the Gagrakacka Mind Zones and are generally regarded as not only the loudest rock band in the Galaxy, but also as being the loudest noise of any kind at all. Disaster Area are fronted by Hotblack Desiato and their best selling single was released on Earth under the band name PRISM and is titled Spaceship Superstar?
I felt your tension throughout the entire video! And I also loved the poem composed by ThunderstrikeXL, which was very creative! This map is totally unfair! I agree with you and AltimaMantoid that this map should be renamed Mount "Go Fuck Yourself", because that's what it is! Looking forward to the last 3 maps of TNT!
If this map had plus 9 Cyberdemons and a few Hell Guards if they were in the classic Doom games, I'd be even happier that I will probably never be able to or even care to play most of TNT Evilution.
Having an Invulnerability as a secret before the end stage could have saved this map. Good example from Plutonia, Twilight. Very hard map but gives secrets to make the map easier.
I actually really like this one because of how batshit insane it is. First time playing it, I started with only about 10 percent health and no armor, and when I beat it, I felt like a god among men.
The title of this map truly honors it's playthrough!😂😬 Actually this map reminds me to Administration center!🤔I believe it was made by the same dude who created this level 27: mount painful!
Man, I'm speechless... This did make you suffer, eh? I don't wanna be obvious, but this was painful... and deliberately painful! Good work, team TNT... But well, it's over now :D And it wasn't boring, it was intense as hell! Literally and figuratively :P
Listening to BMD play this level is hilarious. You can tell he has gotten better at playing Doom throughout the years. As well as his mic skills has also improved as well!
I thought this map was about to end after the blue key/arachnotrons, and I was thinking "hmm I actually enjoy this map, not too painful". It just gets much uglier after that point.
You know I was doing just fine throughout most of the level until...the damn Lost Souls and Archvile. I went from a cool 186 HP and 184 armor to 99 HP and 38 armor. That level was pure hell and the next one doesn't start out to pretty either. Addendum- I wound up doing the lift differently. I lowered it from the poison, targeted the Archie right off with 2 BFG shots. Then I hit the stupid Lost Soul, the Revenent on the left, and like that. I just kept backing into the poison with the environment suit. The last chain gunner...I got lucky that my chaingun targeted him.
That poem is so great and unfortunately so true :D
Yes and makes the video tense from second one on.😁
i guess I'm quite off topic but does anyone know a good website to watch new series online?
@Zaire Callan flixportal :D
@Kamden Abel thanks, I went there and it seems to work =) Appreciate it !
@Zaire Callan No problem =)
That definitely makes sense. And yeah, the original did not count lost souls as kills.
The poem at the beginning is really good.
I have to admit. That effect with that mountain and the teleporting Souls in the distance is pretty cool.
Am I the only one who kinda likes this map? Of course I hate the chain gunners but the outdoor area with the mountain looks kinda cool
No, i like it too. But the outside part i don't. It's pretty unfair the unreachable mountain with all those lost souls
Hard question if I like it. I defently don't hate it.😁
Yeah I enjoyed it
I like some parts of the map, but the outside area is very unfair. What I really like is the music
Me too. It was definitely brutally difficult but it's a pretty unique one and a real test of one's demon killing abilities.
You are very good at reciting poems. That poem decorates your video enormously.
I love the way you do these videos I have just a great time watching and laughing, so thank you :D
25:56 revenant + arch-vile blast at same time. haallelluja that was close!
! on damaging floor..
The adrenaline was real in this video. My favorite video on your channel so far. Good job.
Shit man I'm stressed just watching you play man.

XD
I feel your pain BigMacDavis, I really do.
I really appreciate the pain you went through to bring us a walkthrough of THIS map!
SHIT! I was at the edge of my seat. Jesus this video was tense in fact I was a bit scared to watch I didn't want you to fail.
If there will ever be an online course like ' How to make a dramatic walk through video' for new youtubers, this video must be as the prime example in it.
Gripping from start to finish. 👍👊🤘❤
Haha, glad you enjoyed it, my friend! :D
@@BigMacDavis I wished you could watch this with just 'viewers eyes' and not being the genius who made it. It's so much fun Jeff.😁👍
"Picked up a Medikit that you really need", how apropiaded, it's like at this point TNT Evilution is mocking you XD
This map still makes me shudder.
THEY HAD ME WHINING LIKE A B@!@# XD
so awesome ^^ :D
Idve been told this would be my favorite doom level
I think my friend was messing w me
Great channel dude love your voice and humor
This level has my favourite soundtrack in Doom games
Haha.😄
TommY hell yeah!
True mastery is creating maximum threat with minimum pieces. That last room was a work of art. Just beautiful.
@@ajackofdiamonds I see it like you but you know that we are walking on thin ice when we talk in a good sense about mount pain. Many chain gunners with a nervous triggerfinger around here. Haha.!😂😂
can anyone else get through this man pretty well now. I've practiced this map for a couple of week now and I've got it all figured out just great. made it through on UV 3 times consecutive
lol your sentimental style made me laugh :D " snivel i whine like a bitch "
Hi BigMacDavis,
First, my congratulations for getting through this place on the Ultra-Violence difficulty.
The third piece of advice that I would give is related to the first partial invisibility sphere.
~Trav.~
Thanks for the strategies, my friend. :)

Always a pleasure! Please let me know if anything was unclear!
@@Rain1290 Not at all. It was all clear. I actually plan on livestreaming TNT again at some point, and I will remember these strategies, so thank you. :)
@@BigMacDavis
You're very, very welcome, and I look forward to that TNT playthrough that you are planning! If you have any questions along the way, know that I am more than happy to answer! I'll also probably comment on other levels that you have posted already whenever I can. :)
@@BigMacDavis
I just played over this level again and discovered a few additional useful techniques to really save some stress. I incorporated these additional strategies as edits in my previously lengthy description, so feel free to refer to those whenever you can (and especially when you decide to attempt this again). :)
EDIT: Actually, it might be too long to insert there. I will simply post it here:
****Yet another useful and possibly even simpler method would be to alert and kill the lower-left revenant while at the top (not from magma/lava pit level), on the ledge near the grey lever that lowers the platform.
Cheers,
~Trav.~
Man when I usually think of hard, I think of death mountain in zelda 2, but now I think I found the new Mt. Ragequit!
Haha I really liked the poem at the beginning. Awesomeness.
1:25 You know you're in for a doozy of a map when Bigmacdavis resorts to vulgarity.
Nice poem thunderstrike
I don't usually watch walkthroughs with commentary, but this was fun to watch
Wether we like it or not, Mount Pain IS a legendary map.
Habitat: I'm the most difficult map in all of Evilution!
Mount Pain: Hold my beer
Mount Pain is... it's brutal. It's unfair. It is, without a shadow of a doubt, the hardest map in TNT Evilution.
Me, stuck on Mount Doom: what am I supposed to do?
*Looks up walkthrough*
Walkthrough 27:25: *What am I supposed to do?*
To be fair this map is incredibly difficult.
I'm not one who normally engages in schadenfreude, but I so want to see the outtakes for this map!
Believe it or not, this is one of my favourite map :D
Speechless, you play amazingly well. Even when choking on snot, incredible. Seriously it is a crazy map, in the 90s, I only played doom 1, épisode 1, and thought it was tough! At 42, I discover awesomeness of Doom 😊😊 I had no idea evilution or the plutonia experiment, which i'll play for the 1st time in my life soon, existed
Good grief the Last section!!! Soooo tense 😮😮😮😮
I'm not even playing this map, and already I feel like I am watching this one!
And I retract my statement of liking this stage after dying countless times near the end, and even after saving! :P
poetic briefing. just beautiful!
9:30 "And then I fire, and then I fire, and then I miss"
Even after about 10 years since my first time playing it (and now with mods like Project Brutality, Complex Clusterfuck and Guncaster Vindicated), this is still by far my absolute favorite map throughout the 4 WADs
No, I'm not being sarcastic. I'm 100% serious. I love this map
After completing this map I especially came here to see how you did this in one go. I died many times in this map. Not a lot of unfair traps, but a LOT of EVERY enemy.
I do like the map though (except for the lost souls at the end... they are just there to harass you).
I still don't care for the map. Just way too little health and too wide open for it to be any fun. At least for me. ;)
your voice is epic ;_;
That poem was definitely creative and good
oh thank you, this map was aggravating, thank you
This is the most stressed out I've ever heard you, and I feel for you!
15:15 Not allergies. It was that rocket you fired at point blank range earlier, so now you're being empathetic and feeling Doomguy's pain. :-D
First time I hear Big Mac Davis nervous and scared 😨
When a map takes a video over 1/2 hour to play, then you know its difficulty, and its size rather quickly. Believe me...
Having an Invulnerability as a secret before the end stage could have saved this map.
Good example from Plutonia, Twilight. Very hard map but gives secrets to make the map easier.
Yeah, I can agree with that.
27:47 - Slow moving elevator is STILL slow! 😆😆😆
I was really rooting for you at the end and was relieved to see the 100% kills at the end. This level should be called Mount Pain in the Ass.
I would love to see a 4k remake of this in 2023. It has always been one of my favourite levels in Doom.
Haha I ate a rocket in the same exact spot. I guess I shoulda watched your entire hallway clear before I did mine. Man oh man damn does that hurt
this map is awesome! one of the best levels in TNT.
It's startin' to grow on me, haha.
Is this a joke or something?
I kinda disagree, but I guess there's people who like this map
Now imagine this being played in Brutal Doom's Realism Mode. That was me not that much time ago.
Quite the challenge if you ask me.
I actually really like this one because of how batshit insane it is. First time playing it, I started with only about 10 percent health and no armor, and when I beat it, I felt like a god among men.
It's the biggest challenge in TNT, that's for sure.
Never has the name of a level felt so apt. 👌🏻
The title of this map truly honors it's playthrough!😂😬 Actually this map reminds me to Administration center!🤔I believe it was made by the same dude who created this level 27: mount painful!
I believe so, yes.
you have played this two times now on record:DD painful
Did anyone notice at 12:08 there's an imp-ghost glitch thingy?
Haha you were unusually nervous in this game! It is good to see a "human" side of you, BigMacDavis.
There is a human side to me. Though he is deep inside.
Man, I'm speechless... This did make you suffer, eh? I don't wanna be obvious, but this was painful... and deliberately painful! Good work, team TNT... But well, it's over now :D And it wasn't boring, it was intense as hell! Literally and figuratively :P
First time i've heard BMD say "MF". The stress was getting to him 😂😘
I don't know how many attempts this took me, but I WAS DONE!!!!
It's funny indeed when Mr BMD loses his cool😂😂😂🤟
Epic fail at the part where you took blast damage from yourself
wow best poem ever!! this is art
Listening to BMD play this level is hilarious. You can tell he has gotten better at playing Doom throughout the years. As well as his mic skills has also improved as well!
But I still feel the same anger and wrath and pain and suffering towards this map.
@@BigMacDavis I don't know, You've played this map at least 3 times. I'm starting to wonder if you have a fetish for this map. 😁
@@sgtbam1306 I'm addicted to the pain, lol.
Now imagine to do this on Brutal Doom’s “Realism Mode” difficulty without saving...
Once I did it, I don’t have a computer now.
I thought this map was about to end after the blue key/arachnotrons, and I was thinking "hmm I actually enjoy this map, not too painful". It just gets much uglier after that point.
The barbed wire sex remark really caught me off guard
I died in that disaster area, got surprised by all the revenants coming out of that room.
That was a amazing poem tell him it I said it was great
Still one of my most favourite videos on UA-cam :)
