Hi from Chicago area Laura. After a long hiatus from anything aviation (at U N Dakota), I decided on a possible career change and am doing online dispatch study with Jeppesen. Finishing up with them in Denver this Dec and hopefully getting the license. I've been watching your videos and appreciate it!
Thank you for the shout out and for watching!!!! I hope your training goes well in the months to come. Those METAR codes can be super obscure, but sometimes the examiners ask about them. It pays to have studied them.
Typically, yes, and pilots also run in UTC (Zulu) typically. Since METARs and also ATIS are in UTC that’s typically how flight plans & dispatch releases are made and sent to flight crews.

Doing METARs, and wondering if it’s professional to convert Zulu to local time when I’m reading. Do the dispatching offices run off a Zulu clock?
