- First ice is here in Minnesota and I did some ice checking today. Found a smaller lake with 4" of clear ice. No fish today on the camera but the goal was just to find fishable ice. Check! Let the games begin!

I'm so excited about the hard ice season. I'm originally from Minnesota, but now I live in Michigan, and I was there last weekend visiting and went fishing with friends on WBL, and there was only about 1 inch of ice around the shore.
I love hard ice too. The soft ice is stupid 😂

Heck yea! First ice is the best. We are having the weirdest weather this year and had 4 days of rain and 50 degrees over Christmas, lakes are back to open water so I guess I get first ice all over again lol Awesome you got on some sight fishing for Trout!

My motivation level to get out on the ice, guys are out on my area lakes, had been really low until I watched this. I'll see if Redd's has maggots and get my crap together tomorrow. Thanks for putting this one out. It was just the kick in the pants I needed.

@@BryanProkuski it was really fun. The fish are still moving around a ton so you gotta pop pretty much a million holes to get and stay on them but once you're on them they just hammer whatever you put down there

Catch and cooks are always a good time. If I get on the crappie hole again this year might have to do one. What did you end up getting at fleet. 5 of diamonds is a good one. I like spoons for pike as they give a good flash. Gold is a great color option as well.

I wasn't north. Seems like most of the states smaller lakes have few inches already.

It's a styrofoam ball, you can get them at any craft store. Got mine at Joan Fabrics. They come in different sizes too.
