Fully agree. As gross as the card is, it being gone wouldn't necessarily hurt the top tier decks, and it would massacre a ton of fringe stuff that wouldn't exist otherwise. It's not the be all and end all, but it's auto include enough to make so much stuff work.
Someone please make a really low budget animation with a bow masters throwing envelopes at mana dorks. I need this.
As far as the dockside ban argument, I think cal is massively overestimating the impact of dockside in TnK and rog si. Dont get me wrong, the card is amazing in the decks, but it's just not needed when tnk card quality is still isnane and rog has other crazy mana like culling the weak. The real decks that get hurt are the creatures combo decks.
Yeah, every time I hear people say "oh but Blue Farm and RogSi lose Dockside too" yeah, cool, they lose it, but it's like those decks losing Flusterstorm or Dark Ritual. It's gonna worsen them but it's not taking down a core strategy.
Meanwhile, Sisay loses most of its explosive power and the deck already struggles to build a board under Bowmasters. Kenrith gets much weaker, maybe even unviable. Magda loses the only advantage it really has. Korvold, a deck that's already like Tier 2 at best, loses its best piece and one of its combos.
Without Dockside, so many decks suddenly struggle to compete with Blue Farm and RogSi because they lose their explosiveness.

35:27 The issue is that printing it in a commander product still puts it into legacy and vintage. As the last ban announcement said they don’t have a way to print direct to commander currently… which is kind of dumb. You could just preban the cards in those formats or just make a commander only product…
Commenting to agree with Ian’s take that Dockside getting the hammer would be SUPER bad for the format. I’m a Sisay pilot and losing my dockside lines would almost always mean I can’t keep up with Blue Farm or Rog Si.

Ians answer to "how to buff green" is also the exact reason why we can't just ban dockside with no other changes. Dockside ban makes T&T better, and kinnan is still fine. But other than that, "creature tutors for dockside" is the only thing green has going for it atm.
If you ban dockside, give us primetime!
I do really look foreward to the veteran explorer -> flare of cultivation plays though. Crossing my fingers for that being good.

For the June thing, an LGS is hosting a cEDH tournament and I’m looking to run Asmo/K9 and it’s testing well
25:55 I’m not sure on the dockside ban. Dockside eliminates several decks ability to win, but immediately kills a large majority of the clones in the format. It doesn’t feel like JTMS’s hold on standard though. Everyone played Jace or played baby Jace to kill the Jace.
With all the ban talk going around, would love to see an episode where you both did a top ten list of cards that should be banned. Suppose could be a top 5 if 10 would be too long of a video.
On the note of hitting rog/si and blue farm, i wonder what happens if we just remove the efficient win con.

Commenting to share my opinions on the Dockside, Rhystic, and Bowmaster ban ideas. All 3 are so format defining, but the combination of Rhystic Study and Bowmaster is the major thing keeping green off the table. I've even had games where the person with Bowmaster feeds the hell out of Rhystic Study just so they can ping creatures off the table, then they lose to the Rhystic Study player who drew 15 cards and wasn't punished. I think one piece of the Rhystic Study and Bowmaster problem should be banned if green is going to become a more powerful color in cEDH. Dockside is really good, but Dockside hasn't ever felt broken to me. It's more open to interaction to stop it's combos, though it can be explosive as a ritual effect. If Dockside were to be banned I think you'd have to ban a LOT of the common cards to change the entire cEDH landscape (which I'm not advocating for) like Dockside, Rhystic, Ad Naus, Drannith, etc.
That said I think the MH3 dork that was spoiled this morning is a step in the right direction for green. 2 mana 1/4 that taps for G and has Ferocious tap for GGGG and has Eternalize. It's not very vulnerable to Dockside, has a massive ass to block Tymna attackers, and can tap for 4 mana if you have Kraum, Temur Sabretooth, or any number of commanders in play OR eternalize it.

Great episode. I think rhystic and breach are probably the main problems because rhystic triggers so much it slows games down and breach because it allows for such explosive wins that can even be self-protecting if there is interaction in the yard. Dockside is probably the best card in terms of sheer explosivity and elevating decks to viability almost single handedly but it requires an outlet of some sort to actually convert. plus it allows for some decks to actually equalize with all the fast mana that is ubiquitous.
i just want low color blue and low color green to get some love to allow for more win attempts. yes they have thassa and food chain but they often struggle with being able to stop stuff without white or push through wins without red.

Dockside is propping up so many RG decks that go for infinite cast, or mana outlet combos. I fucking hate Dockside, but it actually cultivates diversity whereas a ban would just homogenize the top of the meta even more.
...fuck Bowmasters, that card is so toxic.
I’ll say it again, unban hullbreacher and bowmaster gets worse.
While I can agree with Callahan's point that Dockside also punishing enchantments is kind of bad for the meta, I agree with Ian that it is absolutely necessary at punishing decks that can lay a bunch of mana rocks T1 and then push off next turn. It's a great check for crazy board states and a vital card to keep the Meta balanced.
There should always be a fear of dockside coming down and catching a player who is behind up enough to push for a win.
Dockside is cEDH's defining card imo. Something everyone looks at and goes "Yup, this is busted af, but I LOVE it." Every format has a few cards like that.
Deer are terrible. If we did not hunt them in the rates we do, they would die through overpopulation and habitat destruction. And deer lord, imagine the amount of car accidents there would be.

As a Tymna/Kraum (Nausless) midrange player, I would *love* a Dockside ban from the perspective of elevating my deck. I use Dockside, but don't care about it at all. I love drawing it, but almost never tutor for it. In fact, more often that Dockside powering my deck, it gets cloned and powers someone else's deck. So I end up not being able to play a value Dockside, and it often sits in my hand until I have a win, a Diabolic Intent, or a Damn.
Lime scooters and deer both leave sh!!t everywhere so yeah
A turn one Rhystic Study is probably a 3 mana draw 15 in most games and every deck that runs it wants to get it out turn one or two. Blue is clearly the best color in cEDH with free or cheap counters as well as having the best card draw and the best wincon. Banning dockside would just make Green and probably Red unplayable.
Hear me out, if we ban dockside, rhystic, mystic, bowmasters, ad naus, peer, free counterspells, the one ring, underworld breach, thassas oracle, and all partners, selvala twiddlestorm is back! Come on people think!

I think a more critical mass of nature's lore and three visits like effects would be a healthier way to give green a boost... like 2 mana untapped land instead of 3 mana... also more green enchantments like wild growth or whatnot... but that's mostly due to the real issue that dorks are like super bad atm because of bowmasters... I honestly think green is only slightly worse than the other colros without bowmasters. But because of bowmasters green just feels bad.
But I'm also with Callahan on this one... I think green would also get a lot better if dockside gets banned. Greens other big problem is that it's designed as a the mana color... but is bad at mana compared to red and black.
How do you navigate politics vs angle shooting? I feel like the social aspect of the format allows people to ask inappropriate questions masked as "I'm just telling the table the threat" or as you mentioned become the social dictator of the group.
It’d be interesting to see multiple bans only if each color gets exactly one hit, and which cards those will be.
Except maybe we let green off. Does green even have a banworthy card at this point?

Bow masters is a shit card with out card draw. Had a game the other day, played a bowmasters and no one drew cards in the pod, bow maters sucked. Got 2 1/1 for 2 mana.
So a creature that on etb makes mana equal to the amount of lands on the entier board.
Banning Thoracle would make dockside loops stronger, banning dockside would make green and red worse. Ban both!
