Mr. Chilton, I love your videos. They are more common sense than most. I too have mite resistant bees and haent treated for 20 years. You were talking about cotton. It is determined by several things if it will make nectar or not. 1 is the varietey of cotton they plant some just wont make nectar. but the right kind will. The other is it has to be limed, If conditions are right watch your bees they will get honey bound, it makes a good flavored light colored honey, and if there is enough of it it will make you a good crop. I would be supering those big strong hives.

You and Bob Binnie released a video this morning! What a great way to start the day!
Regarding queen rearing this time of year, it seems there are less drones available for virgin queens to mate with, but I know you've mentioned several times that these are your best queens next year. Do you have drone yards nearby still making drones, or do they mate just fine without having to do that? I'm just wondering if that's something I need to consider if I try fall splits next year. Thanks again for the fantastic videos!

I do try to keep multiple yards within a mile or so of one another as much as possible. I also try to keep a green drone frame in every hive to encourage more drones. The amount of drones in the Fall varies from year to year.

So after you put the box on top of the double screen board what do you do with it when it’s time to move it

I use the DS board as the bottom board while moving. Then set it on a pallet or regular bottom board when on location

What do you do to prevent wax moths from getting in your deep boxes of comb when not in use? I shook my bees down & let them back fill with honey. After extracting, I stacked them on pallets, only to go back a few weeks later & find the wax moth damage. Very disappointed to find my comb destroyed.

Watch my video "Sorting Drawn Comb" and it shows the products we use. You can get them from Walmart or Dollar General
