@@Bat_Boy I thought I was the only one that felt that windows was more intuitive while using a mac. LOL. Good to see that there are others out there as well that feels the same.
I love your video and your opinion about the the laptop! I'm been switching between Mac and Windows in past 3 years since Apple Silicon release just because Macs have the incredibly battery life and Windows haven't. Always want that level of battery life, real battery life I mean, presented on the Windows platforms. And also appreciate that you talked about hardware quality, which is always been a pleasure to use on Macs, and now Surface have that too.
Im hoping Qualcomm Xelite chipsets start becoming cheaper in future. So OEM can build and sell laptops a lot cheaper which would be beneficial for us Consumers.
Very good video - thanks Mark. I did try one of these PCs and liked it a lot, but it didn’t match up to my M1 Mac Pro in terms of performance using DaVinci Resolve, so I returned it, somewhat reluctantly. I have just bought a Surface Laptop 7 with the Snapdragon Plus chip for my partner. She does emails, web browsing and some of the Microsoft Casual Games, so I think it will be great for her. Definitely a move in a very positive direction for Windows. Jeff
Surface devices have always been the best in terms of hardware quality on the Windows side. It's good that they get the benefits of power and efficiency of the MacBook through the Qualcomm chips. The problem with some of you is that you give raving reviews about this laptop -and even say " I like it over my MacBook"-and abandon it a few days later. Prove it if it's indeed that good by sticking with it. Use it for all you use your Macs for, switch to it completely for a year without going back to your Mac for anything, then you can have a real and thorough experience with it. There you can provide a comprehensive review and how it compares with a MacBook.
If some1 is full on the apple ecosystem, it is not that easy to remove completely mac out of your life. Apple insists on keeping everything closed, so for example mobile integration between windows & android is superb(I would say even better than MacBook & iphone - excluding the initial setup), however integration between windows & iphone is lacking(no group messages, no camera continuity, no phone mirroring to the laptop, better file sharing and e.t.c.). I have no idea how iPad is communicated with windows laptops, but I guess it won't have a superb integration either. Personally I have an android phone, windows pc & laptop(+1 laptop with Ubuntu), harmonyOS smartwatch, galaxy buds & smarttag and I have no issue with connectivity, even though we are talking for 3 different OS(I am taking ubuntu out of the equation, because the linux ecosystem lacking a lot nowdays)
@@christosmallios9823 Android and Windows integration in general is nowhere near Apple's devices. It's not even close. It's only when those devices are made by one manufacturer (say Samsung Galaxy phone and Galaxy laptop) do you get something close to Apple's integration.
@@wisdomyaw03 You may be right on some degree, but it should not be just samsung. I have an honor phone and based on tlmy experience I get the same features. Having said that it may be still selected manufacturers
@@christosmallios9823 I don't mean to say only Samsung has great device integration apart from Apple. I just mentioned them as an example of my point. There are other manufacturers who do even better job like Huawei.
@@wisdomyaw03 In the android ecosystem, the integration between windows and Android is mostly maintained by MS + quick share, so it is mostly with which mobile partners the full set of features of phone link is supported. Having said that, I have seen videos for harmonyOS ecosystem and from convenience + elegance perspective seems very nice. When the first reviews came out I was disappointed and decided to ignore these laptops. Then I went to a shop to just generally see some laptops, and since I was already there I had a look at the Surface Laptop 7 too. And it was simply shocking how much better the build quality and feel was compared to basically all other laptops I've tried. People say that Asus Zenbooks are good quality laptops... The design, build and feel are nowhere near these Surface laptops. So I just had to buy one, and I have 98% great experiences with it since then, for almost a month. That 2% are basically compatibility issues, for example VMware Horizon client gave me a scare, because its current version crashes the system. The trackpad is a game changer btw. I've never thought that I'll ever have a laptop with which I don't want to use a mouse, but this is just perfect. And the haptic feature helps a lot. For example when you're pressing down and dragging something, actually you don't have to keep pressing down with the same force... as long as you keep simply touching the touchpad, it will continue to drag. These operations were always incredibly annoying on mechanic touchpads.
Yep - same here. A Mac user since 1985 here who's actually selling his latest MacBook Pro after buying both a 15" Surface Laptop 7 and a Surface Pro 11. Windows 11 and Copilot are slick. The total package works so well - even in league with my iPhone 15 Pro Max, that I'm swapping to Windows. I never, ever, thought I'd say that. These new Snapdragon X laptops on Windows are a game changer for so many. Now me included.
Yeah although i love my M1 Macbook air, my next upgrade will be to a Microsoft surface. Tired of Apple charging HUGE amounts for ram or SSD upgrades and the lack of a touch screen so they can sell you an ipad separately.

How is the sleep function? I prefer windows but one of the reasons I use a mac book is because I know I can close my laptop for the weekend and everything will work perfectly when I open it two days later, and the battery will be close to where I left it. With windows laptops, I just can't trust that that will be the case
Why there is just a black Version exklusive at Microsoft with 32 GB RAM? Do you know that? Did your feel that you miss some ram while working with Media files?
I've been a Mac user for a similar amount of time, and I am getting increasingly frustrated by Mac OS's lack of touch display and intrinsic stylus support. My M1 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2TB model will never be a laptop replacement because its excellent hardware is crippled by iPoor OS, and I object to paying a high price for a tablet computer where Apple dictate what applications I can and cannot run. I expect to have complete freedom to sideload any apps I want and accept that risk, as per Mac OS, Windows 11 etc. 18 months ago, I bought a Windows 11 arm PC with the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 processor, as an experiment to see if I could live with Windows 11 arm. Over that time, I have experienced significant improvements in OS, x64 emulation and drivers, along with an increasing number of Windows apps that also have arm64 binaries. It feels snappy and is extremely quiet compared with other windows PCs. I even do some light gaming on it, and this arm processor has around 50% of the performance of a Snapdragon X Elite processor. Indie, DirectX 11 games work best such as, Tomb Raider I - III remastered, Beyond the Steel Sky, Disco Elysium, Songs of Conquest, Cuphead and Kentucky Route Zero. It will even play Witcher 3 and Genshin Impact though you need to configure for borderless window and dial down the resolution and graphics detail. Retro Game emulation works extremely well, as emulators such as Dolphin, athersx2, PPSSPP, Duck Station and DosBox-x all have Windows arm64 binary versions. Also, ScummVM, mGBA, RMG-N64 and OpenMW - Morrowind also play well via x64 emulation. I am planning to purchase a Microsoft Surface Pro 11 when the 5G models become available later this year. At least that runs a desktop class OS making it Pro unlike my iPad Pro!
Is there only 1 slot for SSD or there's an additional one next to the stock SSD? What I mean if I want to upgrade the SSD, do I need to reinstall the OS from scratch?
