Beloved Care's 2nd Annual March Puts Youth at the Center Against Gun Violence | AL DÍA En La Calle

On April 2, Beloved Care hosted its 2nd Annual Youth-led March and Rally Against Gun Violence alongside Imani Star, Forget Me Knot, and others. It ran from 23rd & Market Streets to Philadelphia's Municipal Services Building on 15th Street & JFK Blvd., where youth took the lead against the city's gun violence epidemic primarily affecting them.
AL DIA spoke to several youth leaders at the rally to relay the importance of having youth lead a march and rally versus adults who, from what some youth said, "don't listen to them" anyways. They wanted their voices to be heard by their peers because they can "relate to them" and felt the need to step up because elected officials aren't "doing anything about it."
El 2 de abril, Beloved Care organizó su segunda Marcha anual dirigida por jóvenes y manifestación contra la violencia armada junto con Imani Star, Forget Me Knot y otros. Corría desde las calles 23 y Market hasta el Edificio de Servicios Municipales de Filadelfia en la calle 15 y JFK Blvd., donde los jóvenes tomaron la iniciativa contra la epidemia de violencia armada de la ciudad que los afectaba principalmente.
AL DIA habló con varios líderes juveniles en el mitin para transmitirles la importancia de que los jóvenes lideren una marcha y un mitin frente a los adultos que, según dijeron algunos jóvenes, "no los escuchan" de todos modos. Querían que sus pares escucharan sus voces porque pueden "identificarse con ellos" y sintieron la necesidad de dar un paso al frente porque los funcionarios electos no están "haciendo nada al respecto".
