    i honestly just love you so much. you don’t use fancy lighting or filters in your videos which makes me so happy. for the longest time i wondered why my skin was uneven under makeup and and imperfect because all i was seeing was airbrushed and edited skin on youtube. you’re like a breath of fresh air. your inner and outer beauty makes me and so many others feel beautiful too.

      I totally agree that's why I love her videos. I'm starting my own channel and want to make videos like this because I don't have a computer to edit but I do have a phone to do a little bit of editing and so I'm afraid people won't watch my videos because there not fancy.

      Makeup doesn't do any favors for skin, mine looked better before I used it, mainly because so much makeup breaks me out, but with the right products is fine if used minimally and removed gently and thoroughly. Try consistently using an AHA (5-8%) serum and daily application of a lot of susncreen (if you can use mineral the better.) It should help a lot with the unevenness. I don't suggest retinoids or BHA unless you have acne, because those are much more aggressive at 2% imho. I generally can't keep them on for long, e.g. I put on bha, wait for it to dry, and then RINSE IT OFF before putting on night moisturizer, my face gets super super irritated if I leave it on.

    I SO SUPPORT the leave-well-enough-alone approach to your flakies right now. Your mental health is the most important and if you can't trust yourself to not pick the entire nose off your face currently, DON'T BOTHER. It's totally the right call.

    • @thriftthick
      @thriftthick  6 років тому +17

      thank you so much.... that's exactly how I'm approaching things; I'd rather have flaky bits than gaping holes in my nose :)

    • @periwinkledee323
      @periwinkledee323 6 років тому +4

      Exactly! Trying to remove the flaky bits or exfoliating only exacerbates the problem. Gotta let it heal. For some reason the patch between my eyebrows has been breaking out lately. No change in my cleansing or makeup routine, but I'm permanent unicorn zit woman right now. GAH!! LOL!

      Thrift Thick Hi Cassie!! You know you best of all and how to look after yourself. So disregard this if you find it unhelpful. I have picking problems too (on my jawline/hairline and arms mainly). When I manage to leave them be and get to a flakey stage I moisturise and then put a thick coating of Vaseline or pawpaw ointment (it’s weirdly non-comedogenic) on when I have no where to be. I find it seals in the moisture and when I wash my face it has kind of melted off the truly dry/dead skin. Doesn’t fix it completely, but smooths it out so there is less hanging off tempting me to pick. The other thing I do is pop a hydrocolloid bandage or pimple patch on top to stop me from touching. Just wanted to share as you were the first person I saw who talked about getting thick nails to help prevent picking and I found it super helpful.

    • @UneekSaltyAF
      @UneekSaltyAF 6 років тому

      I have picking problems too. I hate dry skin pieces on my face and around my cuticles on my fingers! Ugh! Just use a wash cloth in the morning and one in the evening when washing your face. I had a multiple breakout on my nose about a month ago and the only thing that got rid of those pieces was using a wash cloth when I washed. Much love!

    When I was growing up as a 90s teen, none of our foundations really had pumps, at least the ones I could afford. You can use the foundation by putting one finger over the end of the bottle, flipping it upside down, and then dotting on your face. You repeat til your face is covered. That way you don't risk dumping out the entire bottle at once.

  • @stacym735
    @stacym735 6 років тому +2

    Cassie, you picked a real winner here; I'm so glad it worked so well for you! :) I have "complicated," aging skin, with a lot of texture issues. And my holy grail foundation was always Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet. But I *had* to make myself find something else, because of A) the $50 price tag, and B) the heavy Chanel fragrance... both of those things started really getting to me. At the suggestion of another youtuber, I tried this one as possible replacement. And HOLY MOLY, it's so close it's ridiculous!! The wear time isn't *quite* as great as the Chanel. But in reality, I almost never wear makeup for longer than six or seven hours anyway, so I don't need it to wear like iron. As for ease of application? Heck, I just apply and blend it with my fingers, then bounce over it quickly with a sponge to buff the edges and take care of any possible streaks. It couldn't be easier or quicker. And it always, *always* looks good, no matter what. I love it!

    • @Mickeebabe1312
      @Mickeebabe1312 6 років тому

      Stacy M, thank you for posting your review. I also have "complicated aging skin with texture issues" and was looking for something a little more affordable that would give me coverage. Question, when you bounce your sponge over it after you've applied with your fingers, is the sponge damp or dry? Do you use primer? Or a setting spray? Thank you.

    • @stacym735
      @stacym735 6 років тому +1

      I dampen my sponge, and wring it out so much that it's just barely damp. If I use a primer, it's Eve Pearl Priming Moisturizer. But most of the time, I don't bother -- I just put it on over my usual skincare.

    The European version of this foundation is a squared bottle and comes with a pump. I hope the formula isn’t altered in any way, because I’m totally going to buy it and I don’t want to be disappointed!
    Also the European version of the concealer has a Maybelline FitMe style of packaging (lipgloss-type applicator).

    I recently purchased the .05n shade of this and it’s perfection for my super fair neutral complexion. However, it’s too dry for my skin type, so my favorite use for it it mixing it in with my moisturizer OR the millions of foundations i have that claim to be the fairest shade in the line but are too dark and too pink for my skin tone. It’s been a real god send honestly. 🙌

      Kelly Scott good to know. I have the same issues with foundations. Always too dark, too pink or orange. I have dry skin too but am always looking for a light foundation to mix with my others.

    • @zeus2cute4u
      @zeus2cute4u 6 років тому +1

      Im not sure if you are subscribed to Taylor her channel name is Thatayla she has a very fair complexion she also needs the lightest shade in the range, she reviews foundations on Friday's and she also has a series 15 days of foundations where she reviews 1 foundation every day for 15 days. She used to be very oily, but she is on an acne treatment and her skin has become normal/dry but mostly dry her favorite foundation with oily and dry skin is the CYO lifeproof foundation in the shade 001 shade which is the lightest and I believe the Dermacol are a perfect shade match for her. I love the CYO it's a beautiful foundation, I wouldn't have known about it until she review it and recommended, it's very affordable, she loves it on it's own and also likes mixing it with the Dermacol or any other foundation.

    • @MrKellycusty
      @MrKellycusty 6 років тому +2

      AC 2CUTE4U yes! The CYO is awesome, it’s my other “mixer,” since it’s more moisturizing/smoothing I use it to mix with drier foundations that are also too dark and too pink. This one is great for more dewy ones that are too dark and too pink (it looks incredible with EL DW Nude in 1C1 👌).

    • @eisleywatson344

      I'm currently wearing the CYO and am LOVING it! I'm in my summer shade, 103, and my winter shade is 101. I'm usually the lightest or second to the lightest in any foundation. I have normal/combo skin and use it over a primer and just set the Tzone. It's so nice and lasts all day!

    Usually the bottles without a pump you can shake up and use what is in the cap. It's like the perfect amount (obviously depending on the bottle and how much you use of it though) I do 100% prefer a pump though

    Girl same!! I had reoccurring acne and dry patches on my nose and chin. I couldn’t help but pick thinking they would lift and disappear foreva. But I got in the routine of applying neosporin at night before bed to those spots and I SWEAR it’s a miracle in a tube. Definitely helped with dryness, scabbing, and scarring!

    Hi Cassie. So far I'm at 12:20 on your video and I think you chose a wonderful match! It really looks great on you in my opinion. The funny thing is that I feel like I've tried at least 100 foundations in my life, (probably an exaggeration, but it feels that way!), and it seems to be one of my biggest challenges. Same with concealer. I have terrible dark circles, both inherited and from sleep problems. I know how to use color-correcting for them and have used probably more concealers than even foundations! I've always wanted someone who really knows their stuff to tell me what my perfect match is. I have stood in makeup aisles in drugstores for so long staring at foundations all of my life. I have so many of them-meaning drugstore brands ranging right up to very high-end brands. The funny thing is that I've always seen these bottles that you're using, but for some reason, I just never tried them. I don't know if it's because the bottle is plain and not special looking, (What a dumb reason huh?), or maybe overwhelmed by the sheer volume of choices, maybe both reason-I just don't know. But, I think you're causing me to want to try it. Ok, now I'll keep watching, then continue. :-) Okay, great video and I totally agree with your assessment! I guess I'll be trying that, and probably in the same shades. I'm fair like you. I loved that lipstick that I also saw you wearing in another video-the Flesh fleshy sheer lipstick in "chew". I can't find it anywhere! Since it wasn't even listed on the manufacturer's site I went to ebay and Amazon too, (last week), and at that time NO ONE had or listed that shade at all, even as "out of stock". It looks beautiful on you and I know it's a color I would definitely like. May I ask where you get it? I forget now, but I think it was a line put out by Sephora and they didn't have it or show it at all. What am I missing? Great video Cassie

    This really is a classic. I wear alabaster C1. Since they extended the line from 32 to 45 shades I’ll have to try the newer ones. C1 is a very close match and might be off by half a shade. PS I have dry skin and it still looks nice. Just make sure you moisturize well.

    100% agree with your rating. I recently bought e Kat Von D for $40 bc I remembered loving it in high school but then after using and seeing how cakey it is, I got the true match again and realized just how much BETTER it is than literally any of the high end products I’ve ever tried. This foundation is fantastic! (I’m also oily and struggle with dermatillomania)

    I came across your UA-cam channel, just Today. I don't normally comment on anyones channel. But I recently turned 36 years old and noticed I needed better coverage in my foundation. I found your channel Very helpful. You are extremely through and not annoying, lol.
    I have to say I watched a couple of your foundation videos and can honestly say this Loreal looks amazing on you. And i was trying to learn and buy a higher end foundation.
    But this video showed me i can still go to CVS and use my coupons and feel good about my purchase, and still look good.
    I noticed you don't do give aways. But i would love to purchase or ask to try this loreal for example from you since they sent you an excess.
    I did go to a MAC, once in my life, and counter, 5 years ago and i wss told i was a mac nc 35, so I try to go by this....
    I might slightly be a little lighter.

    Always been one of my favorite foundations, my go to's, my staples, because I always know that it's going to work. It does oxidize slightly throughout the day but it's pretty unnoticeable and the coverage is amazing and you just can't beat it. I have oily, acne prone skin and I wear glasses so I have many struggles and this foundation covers them all!

    For Concealer SHADE RANGE: I think if you can get even "pretty close" to your skin color (for blemishes, etc), it's a winner since the foundation is applied over it and would cover it up, right? I worry more about the color of under eye concealer if I want it lighter for a brightening affect, because it's not covered by foundation. Hope that makes sense. 🤔🤔🤔

    cassie, this is random, but I was wondering if you have tried any supplements for your hair thinning? I just started taking prenatal vitamins as I will be trying to conceive and have been taking for a few days and I had so much hair grow, including in areas i didn't want it to grow ,such as face. Just wondering if you ever tried it, and may be something to look into along with the irestore.

    Hello. I have an oily skin and have a bit of acne. I want to find a drugstore foundation which not oxidized, cover my pores and uneven skin color (I do not need high coverage because it can cause my skin to become cakey). If possible, I want it long-lasting since I usually wear makeup from morning to evening. Do you recommend a foundation?

    I tried this foundation earlier this year and I liked it but I remember it having like little shimmers in it? I don't think it was noticeable to other people but I could see it and I like to be MATTTE as hail. Although now I do have an obsession with glitter and I want to sparkle like Edward from Twilight so maybe I need to try it again now that they've added new shades. :)

    You can exfoliate with just a chemical exfoliator like the ones Paula's Choice sells - her BHA for clearing pores and AHA to eat away dead skin or The Ordinary has Lactic Acid which is pretty good too.

    Have you tried the Hourglass Veil Mineral primer? I put off trying it because of the price but I’m so glad I bought it. I tried it for the first time last week. Had my makeup on for 15 hours that day and it stayed on wonderfully. I have combination/oily skin and I didn’t have to powder/touch up at all. My T zone stayed matte all day.

    I feel your pain with the struggle of fighting your dermatillomania. I tend to pick my hands and feet, and of course any sores that pop-up. I've gotten so much better since getting my min schnauzer. She keeps me from picking. I trained her to stop me from doing it and she's really changed my life. It's gotten alot better. But I've been stressed out lately as well, and I've gone bezerk on my fingers lately, to the point of taking off layer after layer of skin. Ugh. Trying to get over this minor relapse...I know it's something I need to work on when I find ways to sneak around my girl and keep her from seeing me...anyways, we can do this. Onward and upward!!

    I have raved about this foundation for years - everyone loves Maybelline Fit Me but NO. I think this is WAY better! Also been impressed with the Maybelline Super Stay for slightly more coverage and better for oily skin, but overall... LOreal True Match is more natural looking, definitely gives more medium/buildable coverage and looks decent on most skin types. CAVEAT: The True Match LUMI is crap.

      Maybelline fit me matte was the first foundation I bought when I started wearing foundation again and I thought it was good but yesterday I bought true blend and used it today for the first time and it blew me away. Not only did it practically melt into my skin like a dream where fit me would just sit on the surface on my skin, but I have fresh scratches on my forehead that are scabbing and healing and this foundation without primer or anything covered every imperfection even the dry scabbing skin while still looking natural and it was so hot earlier here in South TX. that beads of sweat were forming on my face and the foundation still stayed on. After all that and no touch up's someone stared at me closely and said, "You have very beautiful skin, what do you use to take care of it?" she was being dead serious and of course I was delighted to hear that compliment. I am never buying a different foundation again. ☺

      I actually use both fit me and true match. Depending on how long I want to wear it or how my skin is doing that day. They both are great. The fit me in the lightest shade slightly matches me better though.

I recently tried the nuetrogena skin clearing foundation with salicylic acid because I 2as breaking out from the Dior backstage and needed something cheap until I can return the dior (I'm 2.5 hours away from sephora) and I had a similar experience with it. Maybe less coverage but really acted nice on my oily skin and I like that it will help fight the nasties. So ya, maybe try that one if you haven't already for a review.

    • @katiehart607

      I've found that Rose Hip Seed Oil from The Ordinary helps fade my acne scars faster and more evenly than they would on their own, and it's under $10. It's an orange colored oil, though, so I'd just be careful about the clothing you wear after applying it to your chest! I apply it all over my face and neck before bed, and it sometimes rubs off on my pillowcase or the collar of my shirt if I don't let it absorb for a while before lying down.
