If you want to give custom books to your kids, look for *personalised childrens books* this functions similarly to this, but they're educational books for kids, w/ tailor made labels, cover design and switched out character names

Could you please share how to develop, create, illustrate characters consistently through the book and series? Thank you!
Oh that's funny - I started off in Fashion Design! You need to do some character studies, and think about what they look like from different angles, or different clothes, or different expressions. Are you working in fashion now?
This is an excellent guide to getting started with self-publishing children's books. As a copyeditor and proofreader who is just starting out in the business, I was a little surprised at the cost you listed for editing (60 GBP/$78 USD). Is this what you pay for a copyeditor and proofreader, or do you also work with a developmental editor?
That was what I was charged for one of the books I worked on. I know that is a rock bottom price, and mostly you'd expect to pay more, but I was just trying to give an idea of my own experience. Good luck with your new business - and I'm glad you liked the video.

Hi Jules I have written a children's book age 5 to 10 that may strongly appeal to parents too. It's a majical yet true story with an eco message. It's been beautifully illustrated (is about 1.500 words with ten illustrations?. I simply want to sell it locally in the city in which I live so am not sure about quantities - maybe 300. Basically looking for a publisher who isn't going to charge me the earth. But where do I look? Also how much it is to urchase an ISBN? £16.40? Who do I apply to? Any help very much appreciated. Suzan
Hi Suzan - you could consider publishing it on Amazon (KDP - Kindle Direct Publishing) but with your own ISBN. Or, you could have a free ISBN, and buy some author copies from KDP - that means they sell them at cost price to you. If you are going to sell them yourself, and not through another shop, it doesn't matter about the ISBN. If you want to buy one, do a google search for ISBNs in your country, and you should be able to find out the cost. If you still have problems, get back to me and let me know what country you're in, and I'll try and find out for you. Good luck Jules :)
I did find some interesting points in your video but I think you overlooked something BIG!! Which is copyright it’s true that technically when you put up a book it’s copyright to you instantly but if you get your own individual copyright when it’s stolen it become so much easier to defend. And I do say when it stolen because anything put online now will get stolen eventually by some one and some sites will not pay you for anything sold from your account until you clear it up if they pay you at all so clearing it up as fast as possible is ideal. So why don’t you mention anything about copyright?

Do you have a video about where to get the book printed? So I can keep them in a warehouse and package myself if people buy on my website

You could ask on Facebook if there is anyone local so you can go and have a face to face chat. Otherwise, look at author forums for recommendations.
