- On February 29, 2020, the United States signed a peace deal with the Taliban to end America’s longest war. The historic agreement was intended to create a pathway towards peace in Afghanistan, but one year later, violence in the country has reached an all-time high.
Under the 2020 peace deal, the U.S. agreed to withdraw all troops by May 2021 if the Taliban upholds its commitment to reduce violence against Afghan forces, cut ties with terror groups like al Qaeda, and begin negotiating with the Afghan government on a power sharing arrangement. So far, negotiations with the Afghan government are at a stalemate, and some fear the U.S. withdrawal only empowers the Taliban to take power back by force.
VICE News’ Hind Hassan travels deep inside Taliban-controlled Afghanistan to speak with civilians and fighters and see what the future of Afghanistan could look like now that American troops are leaving after more than 19 years of war.

US goals in Afghanistan are not achieved, and leaving without achieving them, is win for taliban and loss for US even tho the deal was signed in Doha presented as a glory fo US. But looking at faces that day you can see taliban faces full of joy while US faces are pale. Then you can feel who is the looser here. Taliban loss if lives are never regarded as a loss for them.
If the war continues in Afghanistan US will get weaker and weaker and may end up seperated like what happen to soviet union.
So instead of speaking low about them. You should give them some respect for atleast the willing to continue the struggle with premative weapon and low food, while US has all this tech and money and trying to run away without achieving their goals.

The fact that the Taliban entered Kabul (and tookover the whole country) in under 30 days with literally no bloodshed proves that the Americans had absolutely no business staying there for 20years. As this means the artificial government they funded and propped up couldn't even last a month on its own and wasn't even willing to fight for their country. In conclusion it means like it or not but most Afghans are willing to accept Taliban rule, as it means independence for their nation and freedom from corruption.
Syrians and Iraqis never dreamt of the monster Isis but eventually those monsters took all over the nation and they failed to withstand. Similarly Taliban government is bound to fail not just for their discriminatory rules and regulations on womens but also due to their low understanding of geopolitics and economy. Talibans are now clearly threatening a powerful state like Iran by cutting off the water supply. If Iran strikes, Taliban will faint in a moment. Point is that Taliban is Such a government who doesn't care even if their nation gets nuked. All they need is absolute power and far conservative stone age laws

I am a Pakhtun (same tribe) from Pakistan and live in the Northern region of Pakistan bordered with Afghanistan. This is the attitude of every Pakhtun and in fact this is our credo. I'm not for the Taliban and don't support violence no matter from which group or country but as a Pakhtun I would just like to say that a Pakhtun does not get tired of war.

While others think about what they have to lose and the discomfort they suffer, we think about what we have to win. It is an HONOR to even have a chance to fight in any combat. With god's blessing we haven't had to go to war with anyone. But, if necessary Mexico has the hardware these days AND more importantly, the mental toughness and resilience necessary to overcome any and all obstacles.
If you weren't aware, Mexicans were the ones that drove away the Spanish fully kitted army with broomsticks, pickaxes, axes, sticks, rocks you name it. Grandmas, children, women all took up arms and drove the Spanish away from Mexico to earn their independence. We didn't rely on friendships or alliances of any kind. The Spanish weren't prepared mentally, even with their fancy guns and armies, to face someone that is ready to die fighting for their culture. They weren't expecting non-combatants, to naturally have violent combatant reactions.
The unfortunate situation with American soldiers is when the going gets tough, they think about their fancy life, their families, and how easy their life is in USA. That is much to lose for an American soldier. I believe that is why even with ALL the hardware and guns the Americans have, the Taliban were still able to hold their ground. Their toughness and resilience is worthy of merit. It shows the world that even with fancy weaponry, it doesn't mean you'll win every war.
