To be fair, the Sonic 2 post credit scene was just the asset for Super Sonic with some new hands and shoes. They didn’t build a proper shadow CGI model until production of this movie

The thing is, Gerald Robotnik in Sonic Adventure 2 looked like an older Eggman. So it makes sense.
Who would have ever guessed Sonic would be the franchise to be Jim Carrey's exception to both his aversion to sequels and his retirement from acting.

Technically Miller isn't the director of the The Sonic Movies. It's actually his friend Jeff Fowler. That said I can see Miller doing a TMNT since he also understands how to direct action sequences.

I think Eggman will turn evil at the end and possibly reveal that he made a copy of Sonic and use the quill that Sonic gave him to activate Metal Sonic. This is where possible Shadow lets his rivalry with Sonic aside and helps them take out Eggman and Metal Sonic.
I think Metal Sonic will be a post-film reveal, yeah.
Possibly there could be an amy or rouge post credit scene

Honestly, Who knows? We see nothing of the Biolizard. And Shadow seems to be the main threat here, with him pulling the same stunt that Sonic pulled in the first movie and shutting down a lot of the city. But, how are they adapting the Adventure era of games into this movie? If we haven't seen any hint of the Biolizard, or even an easter egg of Chaos, then is Shadow going to actually be the main threat? They can't exactly pull the whole "Let's team up against a bigger enemy so we can win" plot on us again, not after pulling that trope with Knuckles and his deal. So who exactly is going to be the main antagonist? And Metal sonic wasn't a big Villain until Sonic Heroes, if I recall correctly, so it's more likely that Metal may be a cameo or an easter egg. So, is Shadow actually the villain of the movie? Or is there gonna be a last minute twist villain?
Honestly after watching this trailer, I wouldn’t mind saving Amy and Metal for a Sonic 4, maybe throw in Silver to explain the time travel aspect. But I think it’ll be good to let this be Shadow’s movie, it looks AMAZING

This movie looks really good. The cinematography, acting, plot, and CGI all seem top notch. Peak!!! I love how with each movie Jim Carrey’s Eggman becomes more and more accurate to the games; in appearance, and behavior. So glad they chose Keanu.
The Tom/Shadow theory actually sounds fairly plausible and i wouldnt be surprised if Rouge is in the movie, just not shown yet. Eggman will more than likely flip on Sonic when he meets his grandfather, and then Biolizard will appear and everyone will be friends again before Paramount give us a Shadow spinoff with Black Doom

I like how every Movie just Gets Bigger and Better, in terms of Cgi and Vfx, hype train, stakes, character arcs, Etc. Etc.
My theory is that how sonic gives Dr.Robotnik his own blue quills, i might be thinking that Dr.Robotnik could use his power to build up a metal sonic for the post credit scene.
Yeah, there's two theories going on right now. One is that Metal Sonic is a twist last act villain to come out and fight Shadow, creating by Robotnik/Gerald. The other is that Metal Sonic is a post credits teaser.
Personally I could see it, because I don't think we're getting Biolizard at all. Even if we don't get Metal Sonic, I don't think we're getting Biolizard either. At most they may loosely reference its existence as a failed project that they already destroyed before it got too far out of hand.

No question Gerald becomes the villain by the end of the movie. That's technically what happens in SA2 but now we'll see him chase revenge.

Plot twist: chaos will be the final surprise villain
I theorized that it was totally possible Chaos replaces the Biolizard. We can't have Chaos appear in the traditional way. The idea that Gerald captured Chaos some time in the past and experimented on it, and that is the new "prototype" actually could make sense.
At this point, though, I'm thinking if we get anything like that its actually Metal Sonic replacing the Biolizard. Or nothing and its just Gerald controlling elements of the Ark itself to attack Sonic and Shadow.
There's nothing wrong with revealing a bit of Shadow's backstory in the trailer. It doesn't go into details anyway. It gives newcomers an idea on what to expect from him and anticipate finding out more instead of just seeing him as straight up evil.

When I heard Keanu’s voice I squealed - he’s perfect 😭
My idea with Gerald is that just like the game, he’ll betray everyone for revenge for Maria with shadow, in the trailer when shadow talks about what he plans to do, he says “we” as in he’s not the only one that’s up to this
The fact people are still hoping for Amy and Rouge are coping so hard.
They need to get over the fact they probably most likely won't be in it because their getting toxic

There has been no reason for the movies to add Amy given the setting.
As a sonic fan, those characters wouldn't even be relevant at all in this current setting, I feel they need to be saved for another movie with Metal Sonic. Since Amy gets kidnapped by him in CD, then they could squeeze in Rouge in that movie. I feel like ppl wanting them now and getting mad are just horny to see live action HD Rouge and Amy. ☠️

I'm not sure they would use Metal Sonic to defeat Shadow, BUT I do feel like Metal Sonic is coming soon because Sonic gave Robotnik his quill. If Robotnik does decide to betray Sonic, which he probably will, he'll make Metal Sonic with his quill to power it to get Sonic's power "once and for all"

The large flying object coming out of London is most likely this movie's version of the Space Colony ARK, where Shadow was created in the games. I wouldn't be surprised if the Eclipse Cannon will be the way Shadow tries to destroy humanity in this movie.
Also if nobody noticed in the trailer we had a scene where tails jumped off and there was a machine in the background where he jumped off and I saw from the looks of it a mustache and which the machine could be the space colony ark meaning that we could also get the bio lizard so that’s something I saw that probably other people didn’t see
I don't think we're getting the Biolizard, but Ark is 100% happening, and yes, that's probably the Ark.
I've seen theories that the object being brought out of the river is _also_ the Ark. I think its entirely possible, and the ark isn't identical to what it was in the games (obviously).
The cliffhanger better actually be two characters metal sonic and maybe silver or Amy maybe even Omega and I wonder if they’re gonna include the super forms in this movie

I'm super pumped about your scoop being right! But there's something I'm not sure about. In the movie trailer, it looks like Shadow already knows what happened to Maria, which follows the plot of SA2. The aspect of your scoop that Shadow, after waking up, is searching for Maria doesn't show up here, so maybe that part of the scoop was wrong, or we’re not seeing it in the first trailer. I think it would be so emotionally impactful for that to play out in the movie rather than simply following the plot of SA2. But I'm okay with it if it is; I just can't wait to see the scenes with Maria and Shadow 🥹👩💙🦔🖤❤️

People were saying that, but then after his “solo” spinoff show, they just saw him as Drax the Destroyer for the SCU, Sonic Cinematic Universe, which, to me, yes, you could see it like that, but I have to take into account that he's a fish out of water, hasn't had a lot of experience with others with being alone a majority of his life since his entire tribe was killed presumably by LongClaw and I love Idris Elba’s interpretation of Knuckles, so I'm fine with it
This trailer delivers on everything for Sonic fans. It was worth the wait, and I'm hoping it lives up to the hype. December can't come soon enough.

People forget that, if Amy was in the movie, we would have had Amy figures as merch. Considering that we don’t have any figures. It’s unlikely that they will be in the movie. Possibly they could be in the post credits scene
I have always thought if Amy Rose isn’t in this, it would be cool to have her in the end credits. She lives in Japan and sees Sonic, Tails and Knuckles fighting Shadow or whatever happens at the end of the movie on a TV somewhere at a store. She’s maybe shopping in Tokyo or somewhere in Japan. She sees Sonic and is stunned to see someone like her when she thought she was the only one around like him. She’s sees how strong and fast he is and feels like she needs to meet him! I just love the idea of her living in Japan since it kind of fits her style and come on, she would totally live there! :)
The only problem is that Amy appearing here would have to be a substantial event. We have no established idea of Sonic's fellow "aliens" being regulars on Earth just yet. Having more come at the end of the film and one being Amy could work, but not her already living on Earth.
