It is a small patch of fur on a piece of wire. Just a nice visual attractant to give them something to key in on at the back of the cage. Thanks for watching glad you liked it!
Thank you! Do you know how many traps he is running for a catch like that? And how many do you like to run? Thank you again for sharing valuable information.
I believe that he was running around 40 cages that year. I started off with 8 cages and am now up to 20. It really just depends on how much time you have to run your line every day.
@@OutdoorMike thank you. I hate to take your time, but if you have time; how often do you guys check the traps/ how long can the cats remain comfortable and healthy in a trap? And how many cages could you maintain if you had no family and did nothing but run cage traps for bobcat? Again, I appreciate you, and I see what you do on here as a gift to a lot of people.
@davidpeightal4918 checks are daily in Arizona. If you have no other commitments, then the sky is the limit, really. Just be prepared to cover alot of ground. I was running 20 cages last season and was doing about 70 miles a day. Jim was covering about a 160 mile loop at one point in his season. So it will really come down to how much ground you can cover in a day and still have time to process your fur.
Did Jim give any specifics on how much skunk, spearmint oil and cat nip he puts in his ldc? I am assuming he melts it down to blend. Can’t message him on fb. Thanks.
@@OutdoorMike Thanks for the reply and contacting him, very much appreciated. I thought I had heard “10 drops” in the video somewhere but couldn’t find it again and wasn’t sure if it was one item or all.
A Guillotine door style cage is best in my opinion. If you are handy you can build your own. If you are looking to purchase one I think that Cam trip cages are the best ones for your money.
Yeah it really is something you will want to watch a few times or bits and pieces hear and there as time goes on. I have watched it quite a few times due to editing it all together and I keep catching something different each time. He really gave a great demo.
Hi. I have had alot of success with Lennons bobcat super all call, Dunlaps Rage, trapper Js predator bait, hell fire, lightning in a bottle, even some of my own bait that I make. Parts of dead chickens wired into the back of the cage works well also. Coyotes are really hard to cage trap. They don't like to commit to the cage. Bobcats on the other hand have no problem walking into a cage. Check out my video library. I have another video on how I set up my cages filmed in the field and I show the lures and baits that I use. Also make sure to really brush in your cages so they cant satisfy their curiosity from the outside. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
Skin out a female bobcat. Get a bucket with about a gallon of water in it. Then soak the hide in the water for about 10 min. Work the hide a few times during the 10 min to really get all the smell out and into the water. Then ring it out in the water. Then put that water in a spray bottle and use it on the line in your sets.
Really good video, thanks for posting.
Glad to hear that you liked it! Thanks for watching!
This really help me I have only caght one
What great information thank you for posting. Wish the people in the background would have been more courteous and shut up.
It was a big room with a lot going on. I was glad for the directional mic on my camera helped with the sound. Glad you liked it.
Thank you
Glad you liked it. Jim shared so much great information in this demo.
Thanks for the video! What is that that he hangs in the back of the box up top?

In AZ, you have to check once a day

He just told me only a very small amount. A little goes a long way with skunk essence. I will get a hold of him and ask though.
Ok so I just talked to him. He said about 10 drops of each. Then a little less of the skunk essence so it is not overwhelming everything else.

What are the best cages for Bobcats?

So in your opinion what are the best value cage traps available?
Depends on what you are trying to catch but if you are going to purchase commercial traps for bobcats Camtrip cages are at the top of the list.
I'm new to this and just bought 8 Camtrip cages to get me started. Just bought them last week as a matter of fact.
FYI, I found instead of a trash bag I just place a full roof shingle in the top. It covers the complete top nicely.
Great video, thanks for sharing!
My pleasure! He did such a great demo. Thanks for watching!
Shole you use chicken poop or rabbit poop
For what?
Ever tried using domestic cat poop?
Yes. It works just fine.
Thanks that was really a lot of info

Good video.
Thanks!
If I’m trying to trap Cyote and bobcat both- what do I use as bait? And where do I buy it?

Have you ever tried putting bunny poop or bunny fur in the back of the trap to attract them??
Rabbit fur in the back is a good attractor.
What do you think of wire pans vs metal flat pans/treadles ??
I like the solid pans. Wire pans run the risk of too much debris falling under it and keeping it from falling.
Its was hard to hear. How did Jim make the Cat Juice ??

Would be nice to hear it
Yeah it was a big metal sided structure so it was very echoy
