If you look at 18th century Spanish 'Sistema de Casta" pictures, you see indigenous women dressing along these very similar basic forms. And yes, certainly the Quechua did borrow from European culture, they were Hispnicized at the barrel of a gun to adopt Spanish culture, language, and customs. But I don't see how Peruvians would 'steal' Hungarian folk cloths. If anything, it is a blending of Spanish and indigenous styles above all.

Perfect length of video. Not too long, and not too short.

Mexico is not in South America, and Hungary is not in Southern Europe. Mexico is a North American country, which is why it's in NAFTA(North American Free Trade Agreement) with the U.S. and Canada. Hungary is a part of Europe. And Peru has nothing to do with Hungary, the clothes of Peruvians was made in the same shape and with similar patterns, except made with Llama wool instead of silk and plastic like these Peruvian pop artists.

Touche.. I traveled Bolivia so I was thinking Pesos, not Sol's, since they have a very similar Andean culture.
Stil...that dress ain't 2800 dollars, more like 1000-1100. Even highly skilled garment workers only make $3-4 per hour.

  • @takerdust

Quechua and Aymaran people borrow heavily from the 1800's Euro style.
The women still wear the same ugly bowler hats that long ago went out of fashion, but they made it their own.

Really liked, but it makes it look lke all peruvians go to these concerts xDD!! well, at least it explained it "folk music artists" xDD!! liked the dresses too, i'm not into cumbia, huayno, or chicha music, but I kind of like the dresses Dina Paucar an Wendy Sulca use.

Red and white=Europe? :S no, not really, Norway doesn't have a maple leafe. We also use the work "oak" istead of maple. Hungary is not northern europe.
I am a Swede myself and i have less than 400km to Norway, Finland and Denmark. We are northern europe aka Scandinavia (Skandinavien).

yea but the catholics worship the virgin just as much as the trinity, and there are many many thousands of saints that are vatican approved, and fair game for worship. when the pope was shot in the assassination attempt, he credited a saint for causing the bullet to miss vitals (and not the surgeons ha ha). Its been pointed out that catholicism walks a very fine line with polytheism. Made it easy band natural for amerinds to synthesize with native beliefs. my 2 cents lol. regards.

You misinterpret my statement dood, I was trying to get across that Amerindian Christians tend to worship saints much more than anywhere else, and that the Vatican views these religious views as blasphemy since their dogma is that the only figures to be worshiped are the father and the son, not the Virgen Mary, etc.
The reason Andean christers do this is because it originated as cover to continue the old religions.
I hope I cleared it up for you.
Vice should do something on Peruvian FooD!
