@bendingsnake What about it? The T2i is an entry-level crop sensor. It'd be cropped to 1.6x the 800mm focal length, taking it to 1280mm without a teleconverter and wouldn't look too much different from any Canon camera up to the 7D, slightly more "zoomed in" than if compared to a 1-series body with a 1.3x crop factor.
Really nice and informative demo of this lenses capabilities. It was nice that you included the distance from lens to subject. Thanks for sharing your experiences!
@fullboxxskater it depends on what body you are using the lense on. On a higher class body, like a 5d mark2 you can use higher iso. You can also adjust your speed and aperture. Hope this helps
Sigma 600mm is just my favorite mirror lens. Many mirror lenses available, and 500mm ones can be had for less than $100 used on day. The sigma, a little bigger and more rare usually about $200. I'd also look for an older sigma 400mm f5.6 APO. 20 years old but still a great starter telephoto, and it will autofocus...
I personally think the 600mm f 4.0 lens is more practical. If i wanted more focal length i would just attach a 1/4 converter and get the same thing as you but have the ability to have 600mm and or 800 with opx the same aperture. Thats just my opinion. Still thats a great piece of lens you got there
The old 600mm f/4 was considerably heavier on par with the 800mm. The newer 600mm is 1.3lbs lighter which is noteworthy. Ultimately if you need the added magnification the 800mm is your lens. Both are solid lenses. I'd ultimately base a purchase decision on weight versus needed magnification. Another thing to consider is the Mark II lenses have been engineered for higher resolving power making for better image quality with larger megapixel sensors. This too should be factored into your decision making. Good luck and happy shooting.
only with a 1D mark II Mark III or mark IV. the 1D X does no longer have that feature. all others (7D, 5D, etc. cannot autofocus with starting f8 or higher)
You can use it on any EOS camera made since 1987, though on way old film cameras, the IS won't work. On a T3i everything will work, and you'll be at an effective 1,280mm. Or really damn close as they say. You can rent this thing in many big citys or online, but you might consider buying something like a 600mm Sigma Mirror Lens. Used on ebay, you'll pay less than this will cost to rent.
@bringthesilverrain where at ?? All I know is what I read !! the 800mm goes for around $11,000 which makes it hard to believe that the 1200mm would be $12,000 I notice it isn't listed anymore, someone must have bought it.
@Piggeliggel Nope, you're not ;) It all depends on what you really need, and how good you are. Remember, the camera/lens doesn't take the photo, You do!
@kobetasonik666 it's not bad but i'd recommend buying an entry level DSLR like the Nikon D3100 with like a tamron 18-200. I'd recommend the d3100 over ANY compact/ bridge camera.
@soundofgeek are you on crack ?? the lens I mentioned is infact a fixed 1200 mm f 5.6 that was listed at B&H for $120,000 no extenders. it is an actual lens that was built by canon. there is also a 5200mm in existance as well.
I get better results with an Orion EON 130mm Apochromatic telescope yet it just costs about 1/5 of the price. Why is that? I doubt an auto focus mechanism could be so expensive. Photographers are getting ripped off!
thanks for the video, I did get way more detail in my moon picture then you , but Im buying a 800mmr for my Cannon Rebel t2i. Im sure you lost some detail with up loading to this video . but still thumbs up
Batool Jacob as in work harder for the things you want a lot of people say i wish i could get this or that if thats the case work harder and maybe you will get it
@@BrianSmith-vl7xu me too..I have a Toyota Yaris, all manual, stock shift, since 2007..250,000.00 km. Beside normal maintenance (oil & filter change on time, battery after around 3-4 years, and tires, I never had a major mechanical problem. changed the break pads only last year since I bought it. I am sure it will last me another 200,000 or 250000 miles more, it will certainly survive me.. As for the Canon lense, I just had a very good deal an FD 800mm F5.6 L with original case in mint+++ condition (no fungus, no balsam separation, no haze or fog), really immaculately condition, for $900.00. It happened that the ebay seller was close to where I live, in South Florida. 30mn away. Met her husband, checked out the lens..mounted on my tripod, made the deal right there, payed him, get back home with the lens..I already have the FD 500mm F4.5 L..but I wanted more reach for my birds photography. Cannot wait to take it out this weekend with a roll of Velvia 50. The seller told me that the lens came from an Estate and had only one owner who apparently stored it in very good condition..I am so happy..😂😂😂 Arthut Morris, the famous Floridian birds photographers made a living with this lens and a Canon T90 (which I own) for more than 10 or 15 years. I just need to look for a Gimbal.
Let's see a single person portrait with the 2x converter and the moon behind them.

@sk8boardinmonkey yup but there are pro tripods designed just to hold the big lenses.so the camera is supported by the big lens.

In case you're interested B&H has a used 1200mm 5.6 for sale. asking price is $120,000
Jim....Your (website) portfolio is FRICKEN AWESOME !!

Very cool! Just saw this lens on Borrowlenses, and found your video after searching for it on UA-cam.
how do you like this comparing with 600mm f4? Does the f4 out weight the focus length? the 600 F4 II and 800 F5.6 is about the same cost.
The old 600mm f/4 was considerably heavier on par with the 800mm. The newer 600mm is 1.3lbs lighter which is noteworthy. Ultimately if you need the added magnification the 800mm is your lens. ciao
speak english please
It must have been an awesome experience using that lens. How well did the body focus at 1100mm f/8 and 1600mm f/11?
How do you reduce noise? Im using a 300mm lens fully zoomed in and have to much noise
Nice shots man, im looking to get this lens for my Canon
I purchased one of these lens second hand and they really are something else.
only with a 1D mark II Mark III or mark IV.
the 1D X does no longer have that feature. all others (7D, 5D, etc. cannot autofocus with starting f8 or higher)
brother.....I like this amazing lens

This is a "Cannon" badum tss :D
@northernchicken not bad, ill put it on 360 month payment plan over 30yrs
DOUBLE RAINBOW?! ALL TH WAYYYY
Was this on a full frame sensor?
I would buy a 50mm 1.8 and a bicycle to take all the pics that you took :D
how would you take a photo of the bridge peaking through the fog with a bike and a 50mm lens?
All I could afford was a 55-250mm
@MrNeocaligus do some research, it is an extremely rare lens with only a tiny handful available in the world.
@Piggeliggel Nope, you're not ;) It all depends on what you really need, and how good you are. Remember, the camera/lens doesn't take the photo, You do!

Can you use it on the T3i?
You did not say how far was the moon. How far was it? The lens caught it pretty well.
@northernchicken sorry , my price was for canon lens 800mm,
will this work with a t5i
It will, but it'll be a 1280mm f8.96 lens on the crop sensor t5i
@soundofgeek are you on crack ?? the lens I mentioned is infact a fixed 1200 mm f 5.6 that was listed at B&H for $120,000 no extenders. it is an actual lens that was built by canon. there is also a 5200mm in existance as well.
amazing lens
Aren't tripods suppose to hold the camera.......
@willcitoman97 no way, not kidding. that was a while back but uhh, I didn't buy it. Can you imagine ?
wht if ur camera fell frm that height ?
Gigantic!
You dont need permission if someone is in a public setting and you do not intend to profit from the pictures...
holy smokes!! and the price too!!
do you the press gets permission before they take pictures , some times yes but only if they want names and details .
No permission necessary. Can photo whatever you want.
wow you managed to make that very exciting piece of equipment take very unexciting photos
If you use a crop camera, this would equal 1280mm!
Thank's for the info, to much money for me to buy great lens , have to check out the 600mm Sigma Mirror Lens
02:58 - has that bird got a pair of bollocks?
at 2:17 is it color fringing on the tunnel ?
Philip Bonnaud-Thériault I wondered the same thing, but I looked it up, The Waldo Tunnel towards Marin County actually has a rainbow coloured arch.
Basel Kader That is indeed the case. Although now it is officially the Robin Williams Tunnel (named after the late actor)
@AlexAirDubai ye but wores picture quality and Aperture then ^^ and slower focus

ua-cam.com/video/cMHdUFTwqnI/v-deo.html

+NickBakerFilms you are absolutely right :) i will try my best ^^ thank u ^^

What if he used this on a t2i :)
@northernchicken $120,000!? They sell brand new for $13,999!
I'd love to have a lens like that, except the price of the lens is almost half of what my horse cost D: ... Still awesome though.
of course you can focus...
I use tripod for my camera, you use for lens :(
Why not buy a telescope?
you should have video recorded and zommed in manually
with the money you'd save, you would buy a car
Yeah but cars are lame.
I have a cheap second hand car . It gets me to a destination pretty much the same time as a $100K car.

personally prefer to buy 100-400 + 2x extender to reach 800mm for less than 2k rather than selling my future children!!!
The 100-400 + 2x would be pretty low image quality, so I'd rather sell Your children.
