I think that's because most "music" produced today is so digitally "enhanced" that it's just not real anymore. Who wants to react to numbingly similar content when there's actual music to be discovered?!
Keep going down the Rush rabbit hole brother, you will love the ride! YYZ is the airport code of Toronto pearson Intl airport. That rythm is the repeater code for planes flying in. For them it meant "We're almost back home". Epic song.
YYZ is the indicator code for the Toronto International Airport. The beginning of the song is Morse Code. Alex Lifeson the guitarist is also a licensed pilot and was flying them back to Toronto when Geddy and Neil heard it and it stuck with them. The guys always liked seeing YYZ on their luggage as it meant they were heading home to their families. Geddy is pronounced liked Freddie but with a hard G There is still a lot of Rush for you to check out. 2112 is one of their masterpieces. The song takes up half the album. I suggest doing the comic book or the lyric version as the storyline is important. As someone else mentioned Secret Touch from the Snakes and Arrows tour is one to check out. also Caravan from the Time Machine Tour. Cheers
YYZ is the code for the Toronto airport, their hometown. Neil Peart (RIP) is tapping YYZ out in morse code at the beginning of the song. Probably the best live band ever.
The song 2112 that you saw is pronounced Twentyone Twelve. Its a 7 part middle finger to their record company who told them to make radio friendly hits or no new contract. The band decided to make the music they wanted and live with the results good or bad. The record sold well enough that they didn't have to worry about record execs botheting them again.
Context on the timing of this and the excitement by those kids in Rio; This song was old even then but it was used by the game GUITAR HERO II as the quintessential pinnacle of guitar mastery, you had to conquer this song (lmao … good luck) in order to be declared a GUITAR HERO! Those kids in RIO are hearing their video game, the pinnacle of guitar mastery RIGHT THERE IN PERSON! BOOM!
A lot of Rush IS a slow burn because every time you listen to any particular song, you'll notice something you didn't catch the last time, and the lyrics never EVER disappoint! Dust off your dictionary, Bro ;)
Geddy with a hard G. Ged-E. YYZ (Zed) is the airport code for Toronto Pearson Airport. The rhythm of the song is actually Morse Code for YYZ. -. -- -. -- --..
"He stands out..." Yep they all do. 4 ways to listen to Rush to be amazed. Listen to the drums Listen to the bass Listen to the guitar or Just open your mind and let it all in at once. Never get tired of this band.
Rush fan 25 yeas here. It's fun watching nubes see it for the first time. We know it's coming but yiu don't. Lol Essential rush, do the blah blah speech
The Rush rabbit hole is 19 studio albums and half a century deep! And we welcome everyone! I love the enthusiasm and discovery from younger generations. Rush is one example of many bands that bring generations and people together.
🤗 Geddys little 🎸 side picks in-between chords of a song are like that Cranberry Sauce you didn't know you were missing on your Thanksgiving plate 😳 until you see it on another persons plate. 🤭 Now you all 🙋🏿♀️ "I want some Cranberry Sauce too!" 🤣🥰🐰
The first concert I ever went to(I was 16) Rush was one of the opening bands, Neil had just been in the band a few months. Sept 30 1974.....Billy Preston was the headliner with two unknown bands...Rush was the first band so their equipment was in front of the next two bands. I was on the front row just feet away from Alex most of the night. We had not heard of Rush until the adds for the concert came on the radio(no internet back then haha) so our bass player got the 8 trac of their album "RUSH". We listened to it on the way to the show. When the lights went out a thundering guitar riff starts..."Finding My Way"... and the crowd pushes forward smashing all of us on the front row. It was awesome! Rush killed it...rocking the stadium. Then the second band come out.....Holy Shit.....this 8 foot demon looking thing playing bass is standing in front of me! There was a "cat" on the drums! Weirdest looking band we had ever seen.....but BOY did they rock out. KISS was the name of their band.
Nice reaction to Rush. Nice Canadian boys. Saw Rush many times. Use to chit chat with Geddy and Alex on their walks and they were always fun. Geddy's idol is Chris Squire of Yes. The only band Geddy stood in line to see. So a song called Roundabout by Yes off the Fragile album is a great intro to the greatest show on earth. Enjoy your Yes journey 🙏🍁
Yyz is the code for Toronto international airport An Geddy is pronounced Eddy with a g in front 😜 Also 2112 is a 23 min song that was their F U to the recording industry who told them to do 3 min radio friendly songs Best song ever written
Geddy and Rush is great, but i would say the greatest base player is Mariuz Duda of the Polish band Riverside. Check out a live version of the song Escalator Shrine to see if you agree.
Lee is a great bassist, but my vote would have to be Abraham Laboriel as the best overall bassist in history. Flavor, technique, speed, and groove, he's on point. Check out "Chuncho" for some smooth speed licks from him.
I've been a fan of Rush since my early teens. Went to five concerts.. permanent waves tour up to the R40 tour. Simply amazing every time. More Rush please and if you want to hear a band that was nfluenced by Rush.... suggest you listen to some Primus. Being a fan of theirs for years as well Saw them in June 2022 doing all their material and after intermission they performed the entire album of all of A Farewell to Kings by Rush. And then a few more of their own stuff. Would suggest Wynona's Big Brown Beaver, Jerry Was a Race Car Driver, Bob's party time.... more suggestions when the time comes. Carry-on discovering great music.👍💓🎶🖖🍻🇨🇦
🙏🏿 Thank You for your reactions! 😂 Between Rush, PF & Steely Dan reactions..... Well, 😏 let's just say I'm glad I'm retired. 🤷🏿♀️ Cause watching reactions is now my "9-5"! 🤔 Which still leaves time to rehearse for shows & 😉 Cosplay! 😒 I honestly don't know why I still have Cable! 🤣🤣🤣🥰🐰
🤔 Now that you are more familiar with the Rush 'sound', 😉 maybe go back 4,5 months & relisten to some Rush songs you reacted to (if they aren't on your Playlist). 😌 Think you'll have more appreciation for them! ☺️🥰🐰
RUSH doesn't block their videos. They want everyone to experience their greatness.
You have got to admit. WE started in the 60's and 70's and our music is STILL being played. And people are loving it all over AGAIN.
I think that's because most "music" produced today is so digitally "enhanced" that it's just not real anymore. Who wants to react to numbingly similar content when there's actual music to be discovered?!
Rush fans are the most loyal you will ever see. You put out a Rush video, you will get hits!
Yyz is the code for the Toronto airport, they usually played this song last on the last tour date to let everyone know they are heading home
This is arguably the very best band for you to learn the world of time changes that is progressive rock. Their transitions are soooo smoooth.
Keep going down the Rush rabbit hole brother, you will love the ride! YYZ is the airport code of Toronto pearson Intl airport. That rythm is the repeater code for planes flying in. For them it meant "We're almost back home". Epic song.
And it YYZed!

Cheers
Just to add, Z is pronounced ZED being a Canadian band.
YYZ is the airport code for Toronto Canada, where these boys are originally from.
Hands down the best band ever!!
Comes in at number 2 for me!! I discovered them late. If I had discovered Rush before Floyd, it could easily be the other way around.
YYZ is the code for the Toronto airport, their hometown. Neil Peart (RIP) is tapping YYZ out in morse code at the beginning of the song. Probably the best live band ever.

YYZ is the international airport code for my city. Ding da ding ding ding etc...
An istrumental that the crowd sings to.amazing.
Thank you! That is all I can say. It is so gratifying to see everyone's first encounter of Rush. Godspeed, brah!
You're right they truly are a musical buffet 🤣
YYZ is the acronym for the airport in Toronto. Geddy is pronounced just like it sounds
Context on the timing of this and the excitement by those kids in Rio; This song was old even then but it was used by the game GUITAR HERO II as the quintessential pinnacle of guitar mastery, you had to conquer this song (lmao … good luck) in order to be declared a GUITAR HERO!

Geddy is how his mother (a holocaust survivor) pronounced his name Gary with her accent, it stuck with him growing up.
If u wanna see Geddy shred his base
Check out leave that thing alone live in Cleveland
He is a beast on the base an his work in that song is insane
Agreed , check out Leave that thing Alone. The bass rythym is a very big beast, this is an instrumental song also, but so well executed!
Giddy Lee One Billboard's bass player of the year award 5 times in a row. He can't even have his name in the hat now
the "soft landing" after Alex's guitar (where you say "what is that?") is sublime
Geddy with a hard G. Ged-E. YYZ (Zed) is the airport code for Toronto Pearson Airport. The rhythm of the song is actually Morse Code for YYZ. -. -- -. -- --..
You’re getting it…., keep listening!😮
"He stands out..."
Yep they all do.
4 ways to listen to Rush to be amazed.
Listen to the drums
Listen to the bass
Listen to the guitar
or Just open your mind and let it all in at once.
Never get tired of this band.
Definitely check out
Rush 2112
The entire album start to finish an amazing journey
Rush fan 25 yeas here. It's fun watching nubes see it for the first time. We know it's coming but yiu don't. Lol
Essential rush, do the blah blah speech
Told ya !! Amazes me still the crowd singing to a tune with no lyrics!! Thats just how good this band was .
Again Greetings from YYZ 🇨🇦
Greatest live of YYZ! The Brazilian fans singing and raving in tune with the music is simply amazing.
The Rush rabbit hole is 19 studio albums and half a century deep! And we welcome everyone! I love the enthusiasm and discovery from younger generations. Rush is one example of many bands that bring generations and people together.
I'm a few weeks late to the party but Geddy owns it!
Alex kills it the whole concert in Rio
🤗 Geddys little 🎸 side picks in-between chords of a song are like that Cranberry Sauce you didn't know you were missing on your Thanksgiving plate 😳 until you see it on another persons plate. 🤭 Now you all 🙋🏿♀️ "I want some Cranberry Sauce too!" 🤣🥰🐰
One of my more memorable concerts I attended in my youth.
Awesome. More Please!
If you really want the real YYZ live version, go to the live album " Exit Stage Left"
The first concert I ever went to(I was 16) Rush was one of the opening bands, Neil had just been in the band a few months. Best bassist, best guitarist, best drummer, best lyricist, best band...ever.
You need to get out more.
@@tektoniks_architects Nah...you need to get better educated.
Geddy and Rush is great, but i would say the greatest base player is Mariuz Duda of the Polish band Riverside. Check out a live version of the song Escalator Shrine to see if you agree.
Geddy...rhymes with Teddy.
Phenomenal!!!!!
Lee is a great bassist, but my vote would have to be Abraham Laboriel as the best overall bassist in history. Flavor, technique, speed, and groove, he's on point. Check out "Chuncho" for some smooth speed licks from him.

Neil Peart
Drum Solo
Live In Frankfurt
Y Y ZED❤🇨🇦
I see you got the message! [lol &a big smile]
I saw them live in 1976 after the release of 2112....Cheap Trick opened for them. The place was only half full. It took them awhile to be appreciated.

His mother had a strong accent and pronounced it Geddy.

Geddy is why bass is my favorite instrument. Check out some victor Wooten. Victors jam on UA-cam if you want another goat.
🤗 Hoping 2112 is coming soon! 😁 We're all gonna have soooo much fun! 🥰🐰
🤗 Missed you and your Rush Reactions! 🥰🐰
Live In Frankfurt Drum Solo - be prepared to be amazed!!
Yes , this is Neil’s best drum solo ever.
Keep going on the live stuff
Thanks for the rush reactions Check out "secret touch" snakes and arrows tour live I think this is their best live performance and I've seen them all.
I concur!!❤
How many crowds you find "sing along" to an instrumental!!!
YYZed. We're Canadian. wesayzed
40 + yrs.
Nice review!!!!
La villa strangiato next
🤔 Now that you are more familiar with the Rush 'sound', 😉 maybe go back 4,5 months & relisten to some Rush songs you reacted to (if they aren't on your Playlist). 😌 Think you'll have more appreciation for them! ☺️🥰🐰
Geddy rhymes with "Freddy."
"Geddy"
It's a hard G.
Rhymes with Teddy or Freddy...
Hey man! Since you like YYZ so much, check out La Villa Strangiato.
my Favorite bass riff is at 4:40 on this vid, so sick!
Ask your phone the specific question about this tune.
Brazil was starving for a Rush concert. When they finally got it, they went absolutely nuts. Always do Stick Hits versions if available
Check out Charles Mingus, for another meaty bass player
I thought your Thanksgiving comparison was spot on. Try listing to some older Rush. Working Man is awesome.
He doesn't tell the base what to do the base tells him what to do
How many bands do you know that have a base as a lead guitar?
You were thinking of 2112
did.....you.....say....thats it ?
Pronounced Geh-dee
J.M.O. but Lemmy from Motorhead is a monster on the bass, Gaddy is good, but Lemmy is better.
Damn you! Stop reacting to the best band that ever lived.
Definitely check out 2112, the whole thing though. Its a masterpiece!
