Soy dominicano y admito que este es un plato puertorriqueño, pero, pero los dominicanos los adoptamos como si fuera un plato local. Es igual que los guandules. Los guandules guisados o moro de guandules son platos dominicanos adoptados perfectamente por los boricuas. No le veo nada mal a esto. A mi me gusta el mofongo tradicional, o sea de chicharrones. Finalmente, no se sientan mal hermanos boricuas porque ya el mofongo es considerado un plato nacional en Rep.Dominicana. Los dominicanos también tienen el mejor sancocho del mundo a los boricuas les encanta y no pasa nada. En RD también se hace la paella española, pero con un toque caribeño y en mi opinión sabe mejor que la paella española original. De todas maneras vamos todos a comer la mejor comida del mundo que es la de PR y RD.

I love what the Carribean has to offer when it comes to Platanos or in Ingles Plantains. Cuba is Fufú 🇨🇺 Dominican Republic is Mangú🇩🇴 and Puerto Rico is Mofongo 🇵🇷 that's is some real Carribean dishes. GOD BLESS THE CARRIBEAN!!
Hey actually for us dominicans is mofongo as well since the preparation from mangu differs, mangu is mashed plantains previously boiled in water while mofongo is mashed plantains in a pilon previously fried while you can add meat, garlic, oil etc to mofongo, mangu is good with butter and oil and can also be made with ripe plantains which is sweeter and softer

In the northern Caribbean Coast of Colombia we have a similar dish to mofongo but instead of frying the plantains they are boiled. We mash the plantains, gently fry some chopped garlic and onion, add some chicharrón, mix all the ingredients together, make balls with all that mix and we call it, get ready for the funny name, cabeza de gato (cat's head) or cayeye. This recipe is made in Córdoba and Sucre, northern Caribbean Colombian coast. Saludos. Amo tus recetas.
👋❤😁 A Boricua here! I agree with perfuming the olive oil with garlic. Let that oil and garlic dance a passionate tango in the ollita or salten (small pot or pan). I add salt to my garlic and oil, and while mashing, I add cilantrillo, (cilantro) and very crunchy chicharron. Love it with ox tail!😁👍👋😊

Love mofongo but you don't need guisadas for mofongo. You can easily enjoy mofongo with soup. It's actually more traditional with soup. In Puerto Rico we like to have bread with soup but sometimes we replace the bread with mofongo. It's amazing try it.
Made this today it was delicious and easy! I also can’t have garlic because of my IBS, so I used garlic infused oil which I can have, and it was so good and still gave the mofongo the garlic taste! Thanks for the amazing recipe!

I just ordered mofongo with pork from a restaurant near me to try it and it was one of the biggest letdowns. It was basically like eating a clove of garlic, they put SO MUCH garlic paste that it overpowered everything but I could still taste a bit of the plantain mix and it's incredibly bland, absolutely nothing about it tasted good it was so bad I feel like I'm gonna have nightmares about it. There's no way that's the same mofongo people eat regularly cuz that was beyond gross. I wanna sue that restaurant 😩

I just ordered mofongo with pork from a restaurant near me to try it and it was one of the biggest letdowns. It was basically like eating a clove of garlic, they put SO MUCH garlic paste that it overpowered everything but I could still taste a bit of the plantain mix and it's incredibly bland, absolutely nothing about it tasted good it was so bad I feel like I'm gonna have nightmares about it.
There's no way that's the same mofongo people eat regularly cuz that was beyond gross. I wanna sue that restaurant 😩
