First Day In Prison, Last Day In Prison - Teens Face Nervous Times Behind Bars

- From our archive: In this video, teens who have been sentenced to juvenile prison arrive in a prison van in waist and leg shackles, preparing for a harrowing first day inside. As they go through the prison intake process, there's a lot to learn before they spend the months and years ahead inside a maximum-security juvenile facility. Going through the Intake process gives them a chance to ask prison guards questions about what to expect as they face a life of the unknown.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the prison our cameras captured teenager Andrew going in front of the Release Committee to learn if he had earned his release from prison. An update on Andrew is included at the end of the video.

He gonna get them kids hurt tryna persuade them to snitch them guards ain’t there all the time to save them nd there’s plenty of blind spots and places for them to get hurt he wrong for that
That Sergeant really lied to those kids about not snitching😅😂😂
🙏🏻 Calamari ❤
Sad seeing this
The reality of the days in the juvenile facility
Beautiful place to chill
That Andrew sounds slow and theirs something wrong with him that is undiagnosed
He is obviously autistic, look at how he moves and speaks.
Sad this is bever ending for these kids alot will cone and go and alot will end back in the system and adult prison the facilities will always have their doors open to these kids with this kind of criminal behavior
Well it's gonna have to start with the person themselves it's a reason why they are locked up. I do know not everyone locked up is guilty and for the one's that committed crimes has to for one accept their actions. And wanting to change if not that's why places like this and adults prisons are made these places isn't like a magnet it doesn't draw.
He should have tool speach class. Dude look demented
The chains and shackles just blow my mind. So dehumanising and medieval.
They're for safety and preventing escape.
@@jimmyv8803 The civilized world doesn't raise troubled kids like this.
I agree, it's not necessary, in Europe we don't have this, its shocking to witness if I'm honest,
Like I said before you do crime you do time. Life lessons dont do drugs don't commit crimes
The kid who burned the apartment down should not have been set free!!!! Thats privilege to its finest
U a clown
Fr 💯
Everyone deserves a second chance
Arson is a mandatory hit at the parole board in New Jersey
Snitches get stitches , sergeant !🙄
Shackle are just unnecessary, thats disgusting to see
You couldn't be more wrong with that comment I'm afraid, I'm here in England and when I was locked up at that age the screws would have had far less injuries if they didn't take the shackles off me as soon as I arrived in the short sharp shock that was Buckley Hall 😂😅😊
Jail can be very sensual. Very sexual. If you're lucky.
Listen to the voices, these r boys. So sad.
I love watching these videos!! I like how that committee operated.... Firm but fair!
This last kid at the review hearing is awkward and slow like he can’t communicate making himself look worse saying the only people he impacted was his mother and sister and not saying the victim they didn’t like to hear that
I hope these kids get into the program.
The best thing to do to not end up in lock up is to not do anything to get locked up.
Looking at Andrew he needs to be evaluated it shows something is wrong with him he's a good talker like a lot of people when it's gonna get him out but by getting out and breaking the law that's what makes it harder for people to be released that's why it's so many people being denied probation and parole and still sitting behind bars.
All kids under 21 should be sent too boot camp
He say "m'kay" more than Mr. Manky on South Park.
I have heard a lot of heartbreaking things in these videos, but a young kid asking for a screw for his glasses really made me sad.
@willsmom93 - you are so right. Small things like this are heartbreaking. Thank you for noticing such a simple yet sad thing. It really does say so much about the stories behind these walls.
So much b.s. we need to adopt the El Salvador model for our prisons
Great video
@Bettercallsaul316 - Thanks so much!! Really appreciate that!
ya cant tell them its alright to snitch and report things ..labeled a snitch
You are in here for a while now
Kinder in Fussketten...
The panel didn't ask about why someone would go to boundary crossing lengths to steal his family photos by his own admission in a retaliation. Well. Retaliation for what?
The sad truth is a majority of these "boys" will end up back in there, jail, or prison and im sure they know that. Some can talk and express themselves ok and some cant but they each know if theyre lying about their answers or if theyre truly trying to change. Alot of these kids upbringing and environments is why they bacame what they are now and the familiarity of that is hard to get away from. I sincerely hope they each can change and become productive young men but its hard and they need to work to change. Part of the problem is this process right here because it doesn't seem like the programs are helping much and the process is certainly lacking and needs significant improvements!!!
great video the law is nice to the kids . the law is there to help them why the are in prison.
Register for the draft….lol, real easy, serve the criminals…
This is entertaining

Some kids are going to get used to going in and out of those places until they hit prison
It's the same thing the leg shackles are uncalled for that it abuse
first: andrew committed robbery in most every other state, not burglary. but that IN's quirky law. but that's that. arson of abandoned structure, OK. fine. sentenced. threats, prob not warranted as a PO violation but, okay. 5 years of another burglary and sex misconduct and out within five years...that's light in terms of sentencing for a habitual offender. now we're working on 7 years w/o an offense...positivity. hopefully he's safely driving a semi somewhere (or being a mechanic) and been in rehab enough to where he doesn't have four walls and a cot ever again.
This kid has not lost his anger issue. He will be back.
