Sakai Jin had obtained the greatest kind of honor( at least in Vietnamese tradition). He won a whole war, saved his people from annialation by teaching them to unite and fight back the foreign babarian invader. That was the greatest good and beyond the meaning of honor in western understanding.
Which is what made the ending all the more depressing. He won the war and saved his people, but now he'll be hunted for the rest of his life, and as far as we know the only one who stuck with him is Yuna and maybe Norio. Sensei can't help him since he's technically still samurai. Lady Masako might, but we're not sure what happened to her after the war was over, and while I do think Norio would help Jin when and where he could, it would have to be done in secret if he doesn't want trouble to come to Ceder Temple
@@connorhilchie2779 Yuna, I'd be willing to bet, helps him. Not a chance she doesn't. Norio is probably undergoing some form of penance for his rage. Lady Makaso isn't a conventional samurai, so she might argue for forgiveness. Kenji probably also helps Jin, not to mention *every single peasant on the island.* The samurai, as if they didn't already have problems trying to find the Ghost, have to deal with a population that does not want the Ghost to be found.
Coughs in western honor. To call the mongol's barbarians is to do a disservice to a proud warrior race. Also have you read Western history. Honor kinda was a thing. And there were people that discarded there honor to fight for the greater good. There is no honor in assassination, poisoning, or biological warfare. Some times all you have it's fear and the west does fear better then anyone
Ehh most people would consider for example the French resistance during WW2 honorable, this is less western concept of honor and more of a Japanese concept of honor approximately 200 years ago.

Having played through the game myself and experienced the beauty that is Jin and Yuna's friendship/relationship, I can't thank you enough for including the scene from the end where they run to each other and hug on the shore. This game was made beautiful by all of its main characters, not just Jin. The others made 'the Ghost' what it was alongside him, through help and providing Jin with a view into their own lives. To me, that's also part of why this game is freaking amazing. So here's to all of them. Ishikawa sensei, Lady Masako, Norio, Ryuzo, Taka, Kenji, Lord Shimura, Yuna and at the centre of it all, Jin.
I've had heard someone say the "secondary missions" were forgettable. But that's wrong. At least, your allies' tales. How they develop with every "mission" it isn't forgettable at all. On the contrary, the missions allow you to know more about your allies as people (or their characters) it is a wonderful game. The first one that encouraged me with its writing to play something else than the main story for the first playthrough!
@@carlosdasilva2409 It wasn't the first to me, I played a handful of games that encouraged me to play all side missions with how great they were (the Yakuza games being a most recent example) but the way this game makes every single side quest special by connecting it not just to Jin's quest for freeing the island but also to his allies' personal stories and developing arcs, that just makes it all so great. The way you learn about Ishikawa sensei's personality when hunting his protege, the way you keep Lady Masako from becoming an insane murderer by refusing to let her indulge fully in her bloodlust on her quest for vengeance, your quest to essentially train Norio up from being a mild-mannered monk to a true hero, you helping Yuna to escape the island but in the end seeing her stay and fight with/for you and heck, even seeing Kenji turn from a cowardly idiot to this sort of bumbling hero, it's all so wonderful in the end.
@@darklord884 I cannot agree more, even if I wanted to. It is an amazing story that doesn't just shows us a protagonist and that's all. It shows us how Jin's friends advance as people. Even the little details and implied backstories. For example, Jin's nanny (forgot her name, sorry :'( ) and her feelings for Kazumasa, Jin's dad. Was such a touching little detail. The secondary missions where Jin gives hope to the people by fighting off the Mongols, fighting bandits, or locating other people (and fighting). Despite his methods not being "honorable" the way he teaches people to resist and fight back, while standing together is brilliant. A game with such a compelling storytelling surely makes one come back to it for more.
@@carlosdasilva2409 Wholeheartedly agree with you on that. I think her name is Yoriko. Not sure though, sadly. The way that subplot is delivered is also quite cute and sad. And quite so. Even very minor ones like the traitorous farmers or the guy who spread the legend of a forest being hunted by the ghost of dead samurai (a legend Jin can contribute to, funnily enough) they all feel human even if their stories are short and not too deep.
THAT VOCAL TRAINING! Wow, it's immediately apparent how much it's boosted your skill. As the years go on, the bar keeps being raised. I'm SO looking forward to what you come up with in the future.
Right at the start I wonder what type of weapon that man was holding his looks like a spear but it had two massive edges on it it looks like a spear but mixed with a sword😮

This particular video came out after I had a bad day and it really helped cheer me up. Thanks again, and keep up the amazing work!
@@riceoawsozm96 A difference is that the wolf was never a samurai, he was never constrained by the code and never had to suffer under the expectations of honour. While one of the central lines is "hesitation is defeat" that only goes to the two bonds wolf has, his master and his father, never a generalized honour. Jin on the other hand still holds himself to a code "for my home" or perhaps "for my people". Hence the theme of the fight is central, Jin could never fight his best if it was not in the name of Tsushima and the people thereof, whereas the Wolf will fight tooth and nail to preserve himself, if only to keep serving and protecting his master. Merely the nomenclatures tell us something, the Ghost and the Wolf. A spectre of vengeance and a wild animal. The ghost haunts the living, inflicting vengeance upon the wicked, whereas the wolf fights for two things, the pack and survival. That is why Jin would lose, even when he is the ghost he is still bound by a code, the wolf is never restricted.

Ehh most people would consider for example the French resistance during WW2 honorable, this is less western concept of honor and more of a Japanese concept of honor approximately 200 years ago.
if that wich you said isn't honorable i don't know what is
Love this one, but it doesn't quite reach "Rebirth" levels of headbanging for me. That song is an absolute banger. However, this bit:
"Ghosts of the fallen
The wind is ever guiding
Vengeance is calling
A specter in the night"
I'm just re-playing this over and over. It's so good! Thanks for another great song on the playlist.
They definitely have different tones, but that's not a bad thing at all.
This is hotter then lord Adachi when the mongols burned him.
Lmfao too soon...
RIP
Uncalled for.
Sick burn...
@Kiran Sadhu I'm not getting worked up in a raging inferno mate, unlike lord adachi.
This is seriously fucking underappreciated, I fucking laughed my ass off.
I love how jt music's song for this game is "honor never falls" lol
“Honor never falls” is what the title is for Jt music
@@doctorchoicetheunchainedx7523 right, my bad ill fix it
It never falls but it does die
A ghost of honor
Trevon Zarmas Honor never falls but yours died in me.
Honor never falls but you have fallen from Honor.
Honor never falls but you have fallen for Honor.
Honor never falls, the Honor of a Ghost.
“You have no honor”
“And you are a slave to it”
God that last scene was so powerful and so good...
As someone who writes Japanese folk tales and haiku, I love what you did with the song lyrics. I also love how you can mix traditional Japanese music flavors into your own rock. It's quite good. I was bedridden, so late to actually see this song, and haven't gotten to play the game, but all the same, this was great to come back to. Keep up the good work!
From 2012 minecraft songs to 2020 other songs...this channel shall rise
Kinda of reminds me of "When Wolves Cry Out"
So I'm not the only one with those thoughts
Somewhere, Drift and Sky-Byte are in awe of this masterpiece.
I've been listening to this song for at least a year and I _just now_ realized that a bunch of the verses are in haiku. 🤯🤣🤣 Bravo! You continue to impress.
I love how "my soul still cries" transitions into the last chorus
I've not played this game yet, mostly due to my limited consoles. However, that won't stop me from appreciating what I know is going to be an amazing song. Added to my playlist already.
I particularly like "Soil and degrade... *MY LEGACY AND NAME!* "
4 years later, game looks great, song hits hard.
I was laying in bed and for some reason the words Gordon Freeman saved my life came into my head. Quick UA-cam search and I got hit by a wave of nostalgia. I completely forgot about this channel 9 years ago. I am happy that you have been improving your craft and continued to upload quality content for the last decade. I have a lot of catching up to do.
I love these songs so much. It's always a highlight of my day when there's a new song out.
One man has managed to make a song that sounds good, even when the sound is corrupted due to no Wi-Fi and a single bar of service in my area. Absolute legend, no, not a legend; A miracle
Гэвин стал делать очень сложные композиции, и то что он исполняет их на таком уровне само по себе шикарно. Как всегда круто и атмосферно!
Uh, anyone mind translating lmao? UA-cam isn't giving me the lovely auto translate button
@@TinyAssassin84 Here I'm just saying that Gavin began to perform complex compositions and he turns out cool and atmospheric.
@@Maxoc100 oh, thank you for the translation, and you are definitely not wrong
This song keeps on giving
nothing is true everything is permitted We walk in darkness to serve the Light we are Assassins
I am vengence i am the Night i am Batman
I am Honor i am shame i am light i am shadow i am the Ghost.
As soon as I saw JT's song, I knew this would be your next one. The guitar and japanese instruments sound so good. Amazing song, man. Amazing.
Absolutely completely 🔥🔥🔥! Talk about a song that awakens your inner Warrior!
I don't know why but the verse "blossoms paint the paths and shrines" just sounds so satisfying to me. Anyone else feel the same way. Awesome song either way!
All of the honor I had from the souls games to For Honor just evaporates and everytime
Gav always manages to give me chills, and I don't even think he is trying
Great lyrics, as usual. I especially love the line "When honor dies, there will be no pride in victory."
I don't know how you manage to never make a bad song, it's unreal.
It's absolutely incredible to me how you nail the atmosphere of each and every game you do a song for. Just speechless. 10/10, Gav.
Gavin busting out the shamisen like "Hello again, old friend".
I haven't said this yet, so I'm doing this now. As a hobbyist short story author, poet, roleplayer and music nerd even among my family (I will occasionally suggest some of your songs to my mom, like your Witcher pieces), your music is a hidden wealth of inspiration, especially since I go to music as an inspiration for many of the characters I've created. You have an AMAZING talent, being able to invoke inspiration for folks through your music. Keep on inspiring people like me and may you never lose inspiration for yourself!
The greatest honor of Jin is not To have blindly following rules, but To have used all the nevessary means To protect his people
You have succeeded in making a great song. I saved it to a playlist alone just so I can keep replaying it while doing nothing productive at all. Btw this entire comment is a huge compliment because I never give give compliments and I am probably the most picky person about music on the damn planet
when the chills hit 10 sec into the song you know its a good one
They don't call u miracle of sound for nothing do they bros!! And if a woman too. Peace. Great music. I nod my head like mad to these. Ghost of tsushima game of the year damn it!!!
Damn, I wanna hear it in japanese.
This is probably my favorite of your songs, Gav. Just about everytime I get in the car I listen to your music and this song is the one I always start with.
This one of the best songs/music I've ever heard. I'm dead serious. Been listening it on repeat for 2 days already
Still do btw
I have been listening to this song on loop for DAYS. Great work, I love it.
I hope this doesn't come across as insulting, but I would love to hear this song with Roy Khan on vocals. It's right in the sweet spot of his range, and I think it would be amazing.
"You have no honor!" - Lord Shimura
"And you are a slave to it!" - Jin Sakai
This is my favorite song of yours, alongside with "London Town". You really know how to catch the spirit of these games.
Japanese culture is fascinating, this song proves the legends of the Samurai.
I've only recently gotten an account and started commenting, but I've been listening to you for years and I have loved all your music since I found you. Thank you for all the inspiring, comforting, and beautiful music throughtout the years Gav, and hopefully many more to come.
God damn that was an amazing experience to listen through. I like to listen to it on speakers on the first run, get a feel for the song, then plug in my best headsets, start, close my eyes and not open them for another 6 minutes. That was fantastic, Gav, thank you! The second half simply blasted me into oblivion and back, amazing
The wagakki warble is an awesome touch!
I'm still hopelessly addicted to this game.
Damn, not to take away from the amazing instrumental work, but can we talk about how awesome that vocal work was?
Will we ever be so privileged to hear a song from Gav about Warhammer: 40k
The material is endless
A long way home : a Leman Russ song (Viking chant)
The purpose : A Tau song (slow beat techno)
Into the trenches : Deathkorps of Krieg Tribute (punk rock)
Curtain calls : Horus heresy (melodical piano song)
Of flesh and Desire : Slaneesh's song(the one duet song in the album, admit it if they got the chance they'll do it)
Redux : A Rouboute Guilleman song (Fast paced power metal)
Red rage : Song for Magnus the red(ironically will be a twangy guitar song about regret)
A monarch eternal : song for the Emperor himself(orchestral choir with organs and harp)
Damn... What a EPIC! Your songs always make my heart overflow. Honestly, I was waiting because I thought you might make a song for this game. My expectation have been answered! Thanks to your great song.
Ever since your Sekiro song I've been waiting for another japanese-influenced song. And once more you've delivered!
Absolutely stunning work as always. I never got to play the game as I own no consoles, but this really took me into it. It is a good portrayal, to drag me in without having ever played it. The instrument work on this one was absolutely top tier as well, keep it up Gav, you are getting better and better. The effort shows!
This sounds like it could the main theme of a professional Ghost of Tsushima movie!
The ones that disliked the video are the remaining members of the Mongol army.
not for long
And the Shogun and Samurai
The music had me in love with this song even before a single lyric was song. Another master piece.
Will you have something prepared for your official 10th UA-cam anniversary, Gav? From Gordon Freeman song to the GoT you've really made a change for most of us during these years. Needless to say, I'm very glad to have met your artwork and made it as a part of my life.
man i love the haiku you did
I wish there was more of this rock/traditional Japanese mix
Melodic where it needs to be, brutal where it counts, I love this.
Really nailed that anime sound.
Absolutely flawless. I’m so excited for the directors cut!
Anybody here after they announced Ghost of Yotei?
THAT VOCAL TRAINING! Wow, it's immediately apparent how much it's boosted your skill. As the years go on, the bar keeps being raised. I'm SO looking forward to what you come up with in the future.
Gav wrote yet another song with out spoilers
Right at the start I wonder what type of weapon that man was holding his looks like a spear but it had two massive edges on it it looks like a spear but mixed with a sword😮
"Honor is dead. But I'll see what I can do."
Always so exciting to find a notification : new song by Miracle of Sound !! Thank u for ur amazing work we all love u !!!!
JtMusic-Honor Never Falls
MiracleofSound-When Honor Dies
I'll admit that I've never commented on one of your videos despite following your channel for awile. I wanted to take this time to thank you so much for all the hard work you do. This particular video came out after I had a bad day and it really helped cheer me up. Thanks again, and keep up the amazing work!
Who would really like to see Jin take on Sekiro? “The Ghost vs The Wolf”
That would be one hell of a match to say the least.
But isn't Wolf immortal?
Wolf would butcher Ghost tbh
That is why Jin would lose, even when he is the ghost he is still bound by a code, the wolf is never restricted.
shinyelf so basically if on neutral ground Jin wouldn’t really care. Sekiro has no reason to attack Tsushima. I wonder what would happen if Jin and Sekiro had to team up
Tsushima, the sight of the only Mongol defeat in their history and before Vietnam, Lithuania, and Finland. Very interesting setting for a game, very excellent song. I might just check it out.
Gavin, you have really outdone yourself.
Not only one of tph best games ever, but easily one of the top10 game stories ever.
