Were there fig trees on the side of it? Mt Etna Fig tree varieties are the most cold hardy types you can grow like Hardy Chicago, Celeste, Brown Turkey varieties, Olympian etc.
It's happened before, and coming too visit Naples,o Lord bless our precious Naples to be free from causing great harm to our beautiful italy.people pray for our families that live there.god loves you.
I was stationed in Naples (AFRSOUTH) from 1981 - 1984, We had earthquakes around Pozzuoli and it was evacuated. The US Forces had a Recreation area in a Crater just west of the crater that explodes in the video. Our main base was in Angano with Naval support base about 2 miles away. They have are now moved north.
Carni Park Navy recreation park. Played golf there, had ship picnics and played softball. The old NATO base was pretty close to Campi Flegrei. They had an awesome audio shop. You could try many of the stereo systems with any of the speakers in the Exchange catalog. I bought Bose 301s after listening to them there.
I took a bus tour to Pompeii in from Rome a number of years ago. Pompeii was magical but of interest here was the 2 hour bumper to bumper traffic through Naples. How could that Metropolitan region possibly be evacuated in hours or even days. It would take weeks and if an eruption was proceeded by sizeable earthquakes, half the roads and highways would be rendered impassable. It would be Pompeii on steroids.
The plinian eruption while large was dwarfed by the Santorini eruption which was 3x bigger than Krakatoa and produced a tsunami over 100feet high which devastated the Minoan civilization.
Interesting, but incomplete. The advent of seismic tomagrahy shows that Vesivius has several feeder magma chambers laid over the top of each other, one feeding the other. Even more interesting is that there is a very deep source chamber which supplies both chambers. This implies both Vesuvius and Campi Flegrei are part of one much larger supervolcano. They also dont talk about the different types of pyroclastic flows. The column collapse flow and the more deadly base surge that engulfed Herculaneum
Fascinating video! I certainly learned new stuff from it about this lurking monster. Never knew they had to measure the gas / temperature at night. Or that that particular area was expanding. None of this is good news...
This volcano could in theory change the world, it will affect the weather to the rest of the world and there for the growing of food , and feeding of animals for humans to consume, not to mention the volcanics ice age that could happen,. This is not just a problem for Italy, it's a problem for us all
Don`t worry! The "experts" now say that volcanoes, space impacts, the sun....THEY CAN`T AFFECT THE CLIMATE in any way, see. ONLY HUMANS affect the climate, see? TRUST THE (fake) SCIENCE, see?
I am not a professional, but there are too many inaccurate statements. At @16:05 "the African Plate Slides under the Eurasian Plate" This is TRUE, this is call Subduction. The fusing of the Rocks does not make "Subduction" Subduction is the process of one plate disappearing under the other plate. @16:26 the "magma combined with gas" is not totally accurate either. Magma always has some gas. Especially when it is being created from subduction. The water trapped in the descending plate will turn to gas under pressure, then as it climbs higher up the magma tube, the gas expands make the eruption more explosive. Do your research.
The problem is, no matter how much time they may get in advance, it won't be enough to evacuate 3 million people. They would need weeks, perhaps months. Science today is not that good yet, and the best they may do is hours.
On a visit to the area I asked residents if they were concerned about eruption. “Oh no, our government will give us plenty of warning”. My take - no chance in hell to evacuate any of the cities. They do not have super highways like in Florida or the Gulf states for hurricanes. As one person says below it would take months, and then to where? Hang on folks, it is going to get interesting from here.
I've been following the development of the Cambi flegrei, i.e. burning fields supervolcano, situation for a year on the channel called "on the Pulse with Silki". The situation has been really worrying for me for the past six months. if the situation escalates, let's all do our best to survive in the future. hopefully there would be no eruption.
@ sorry, my bad. I am Finnish and my knowledge of Italian is really weak. practically not at all. it's really nice to know that when a letter like this is changed, the meaning of the whole word changes, thank you. There are many such examples in the Finnish language as well, so I appreciate your correction.
Silki is a bit over the top with her videos… she started off great with the Icelandic volcanos but recently she’s just trying a bit too hard and I’m honestly losing interest…
Silki is not a geologist nor volcanologist, she's simply repeating and exaggerating information from other sources, for views. Campi Flegrei will likely not erupt in the immediate future, but it's definitely showing signs of unrest that need to be monitored, because it COULD potentially erupt anywhere around and within Naples in the future. The signs we study now could be indicative of an eruption in generations to come. Also an eruption is more likely to be on a smaller VEI scale, such as its previous eruption the Monte Nuovo cinder cone in the 1500s, which would be disastrous for Naples, but not the affect the world, or even Italy as a whole. It's also worth noting that we don't know of any previous VEI 8 eruption at CF, most volcanologists classify this as the requirement to be labelled a 'super volcano'. The Campanian Ignimbrite eruption referenced in this video was classified as a VEI 7, which of course, is still a major eruptive event. Silki has a cute doggo though.
Although this was only put out on 7th Nov 2024 why do I feel it has already been shown on this channel months ago! I understand that clips are used multiple times, but I just felt like I was watching a repeat.
It was. "Will Italy survive the next big eruption? | SLICE EARTH | FULL DOC" on SLICE Earth, one week earlier. Exact same video, just a different channel and title.
That area is such a disaster waiting to happen. I just hope the government responds appropriately if activity significantly increases. I understand not wanting to needlessly evacuate, but volcanoes often give very clear warnings.
I am unsure if there is any appropriate action if this monster goes Boom! And one has to ponder what is even appropriate actions by other countries??? Because no way would it only affect Italy...
No, Naples is not in safety and the the evacuation plan is inadequate, but the chances of the eruption being catastrophic are quite low, surely some people will die, but that is the risk of everyone who lives near volcanoes.
Because it’s home for millions, and it has been home for many for thousands of years, generation after generations, home is home, no matter the consequences.
I know it's stupid to live there but Italy alone doesn't have neither the space nor the resources like US, China or Saudi Arabia to lay the foundation for a new city of 2-3m people. Napoli is also full of history and it has its own economy dependent on its position on the gulf of Naples and the Mediterranean. It cannot be simply left to its fate as a ghost city (despite 100% chance of destruction in the next centuries/millennia). The best one can do is an efficient evacuation plan.
Historians now think that the date Pliny gave was incorrect! Archaeologists have found an inscription in Pompeii that was written a couple a months later than 24th August. So they are now altering the date of the explosion.
Modern understanding, from carbonised fruits and even an inscription, has the date set for October. Pliny wrote his observations twenty or more years after the eruption so it would have been easy to make a mistake.
The narrative said that thousands of people died in Pompeii. I guess the effort to frighten viewers just did not bother to be historically accurate. What about Herculaneum? Did this video intentionally ignore that town and the entire surrounding area? nWEIrD.
Yes we had been warned but our lust and other weaknesses got the better of us...may the most gracious most compassionate most merciful God of universe forgive us of all of our sins
I really appreciate your efforts! A bit off-topic, but I wanted to ask: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). Could you explain how to move them to Binance?
The proportion of global CO₂ emissions caused by volcanic activity is comparatively low compared to human activity. According to estimates, volcanoes emit around 0.3 to 0.4 gigatonnes of CO₂ per year worldwide. In comparison, the annual emissions caused by humans in recent years have been around 35 to 40 gigatonnes of CO₂. This means that volcanic emissions account for less than 1 % of total global CO₂ emissions. However, it could be that this is a substantial proportion that accelerates the reaching of tipping points, I imagine.
Humans are only responsible for a tiny fraction of total C02 emissions. And it`s plant food and needs to be higher, and the seas aren`t rising, and the temperature is very stable.
"Oh honey, let's build our dream home on top of that famous volcano, we'll have a blast"!
That made me LoL 😂
I can imagine which volcano do you like honey 😂
I climbed etna in February of this year. It was magical and covered in snow. The size of the lava bombs and the strong sulphur smell was eye opening!!
Were there fig trees on the side of it? Mt Etna Fig tree varieties are the most cold hardy types you can grow like Hardy Chicago, Celeste, Brown Turkey varieties, Olympian etc.

I love Naples 😢 and vesuvius , thanks for sharing.
What a city!! I love Naples

And how about only sometimes using the correct term (tsunami) … but often saying ‘tidal wave’ as if it’s still 1953

It’s flooding in this area now.
the worlds population is way over the top
Science is very good actually. Or maybe a psychic would be better😊
you're right. and evacuating to where?
There is a third active volcano in the Gulf of Naples : Mount Epomeo in the Ischia island, each volcano has its own magma chamber.
Hang on folks, it is going to get interesting from here.
plus, where they going?
the ocean? the sky?
nowhere , no time.

Campi, not Cambi. Campi means "fields", Cambi means "changes".

@RailRide Thanks for that, glad I'm not completely loosing it yet. 🙂
I bet Nature wins in the end!!! 😂😂😂
Excellent !
Thank you !!
They have been warned.
True. What's next?
The Campi Flegrei is very dangerous...
4:00-5:00 wait, what? 2500 TONS of carbon dioxide and sulfur EVERY DAY?
Have they directed their d e weapons that way then ?
volcano " hey! im working here"!
Does anyone know if there's any significance to the seeming increase in volcanic eruptions worldwide recently(2024)?
Lmao no, its Just newspapers spreading false info, and in fact volcanic Activity seems to have reduced.
The weakening magnetic field is allowing more space energy to affect the earth.
Kind of humbling to know you have thirty minutes to say goodbyes.
30 minutes to bend over and kiss your arse goodbye...
Will pull out my cd later😢😢😮
Get out of there soon!?😊❤
Pompeii and Herculaneum no one mentions Herculaneum
Monitor any fall in atmopheric temperature
That area is such a disaster waiting to happen. I just hope the government responds appropriately if activity significantly increases.

🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Stromboli is the most active volcano on earth.
Shame about the fake voice 😞 takes away from the good science
Absolutely agree! And some of the words used in the script “the breath of the monster”
fIRST A FEW SENTENCES HAS ERRORS- You forget Herculaneum where?
Living near a volcano is not for me. Omg
No, Naples is not in safety and the the evacuation plan is inadequate, but the chances of the eruption being catastrophic are quite low, surely some people will die, but that is the risk of everyone who lives near volcanoes.
these vids are always hyped up, gets more votes then. yuck.. hard to find good info on youtube.
Naples Is safe, vesuvius Is extinct.
Why live there?
Because it’s home for millions, and it has been home for many for thousands of years, generation after generations, home is home, no matter the consequences.

It did not kill thousands of people, because most had evacuated.
Doomsday😮😮😮😮
Ooops it’s not sleeping since 600.000 years?
You have got to be out of your mind to even stay anywhere near that place
Displacing so many people alone would relieve so much pressure from the surroundings it would escalate only faster..
Pompeii's demise was AUG 24 and 25, 79 CE, not OCT 24 and 25 as your narrator reported at time 34:53 and it woke up at noon, not at night

I’d rather rely on science rather than mambo jumbo thanks
Pompeii c d i watched one😢
Run away to the far far South, if want to survive !!!☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️
Enrica, the volcanologist, is gorgeous. She’s intelligent and smoking hot.
I really appreciate your efforts! A bit off-topic, but I wanted to ask: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). Could you explain how to move them to Binance?

Wait...so where is the "climate change narrative" fitting into this story?
What tf are you talking about?
Fascinating subject, but silly, gushing narration that's 50% adjectives and adverbs. Gave up after 3 minutes.
Awful narrator .
pseudoscience clickbait.
