One suggestion, if there’s a lethal puzzle, don’t edit in skips. Having the same amount of time to spot lethal is part of the fun. Other than that, this is defile at its best, trying to use it to clear specific minions while keeping your own alive.
Nah I am the best designed card! 1 I am totally balanced! 2 I have a lot of upsides! 3 I and tirion are the jackpot from stonehill defender! 4 I will make the oppenent cry and give you the last laugh!
Kripp! Just wanted to hopefully comment early here so you'd see this. I just want to say thank you. When I started watching your videos, seven wins in arena was still out of reach for me. Now, I'm getting a 12 win just about every week, even hit the top 100 a few times. I love your dedication to the strategy and focus on how to improve and grind out those wins, and again, just wanted to say thanks.
There's this one weapon that most people are unaware of. I think it's called something along the lines of "Skull of the Man'ari". It also pairs well with an even lesser known card called "Voidlord". But if you have the almost invisible "Carnivorous Cube", you have yourself an instant win by turn 6! I'm totally not salty that anyone who owns the Skull only uses it to get out voidlord, when I've been playing a demon deck since the game came out and I can't get a single legendary for the warlock.
There's this one card that no one really pays attention to, really good card as well. It goes by many names. Magma Rager, Frost Rager, and Am'Gam Rager are to name a few of the "alternate personalities" this card has.
I actually really enjoy defile. I first thought the card was going to be extremely op and it kinda is but it takes some serious skill and calculating to do so I’m ok with it considering not just any noob and use it and win like dragons fury or flamestrike.
sander suijkerbuijk they changed the artwork to brown recently so some older videos or videos recoreded earlier will still show the ghostlike grizzly art
Personally, I think defile is overpowered at 2 mana. In arena, warlocks have an incredibly strong hero power, whose chief drawback - life loss - is mitigated heavily by the bevy of recovery cards currently in standard. That would be fine, if you could still punish a warlock for over-tapping via tempo, but the existence of defile at 2 mana really kinks that strategy as well, especially when combined with something like shadow reaver. It reminds me of when shamans had crackling doom, and you could theoretically be punished for either playing too slow or too fast, and baiting was a crapshoot because just how many board clears can one opponent possibly have?
I really think Defile is a bit overpowered. No 2 mana card should have this much clearing potential... Look at Warpath. At least that costs a ton of mana to clear a ton of stuff by casting it multiple times. Defile should cost 3 mana. I know people will disagree but that's what I think...
I like the design, making trades and using smaller damage spells to help clear the board is a lot more interactive than something like Dragonfire or flamestrike. I dislike the way it fits into the game, though. Cheap tempo disruption justifies the degeneracy of things like odd paladin. Doomsayer is much better designed in my opinion, because it can be countered. I want to see the extreme ends of aggro and control reduced.
most of what you said is true but having a conditional board clear for 2 is INSANE and it also punishes normal gameplay in that if you 1 drop 2 drop. . . it will usually be easy to pull off. Although is this meta many creatures have big buts this could be partially due to defile warping the meta. I personally find the card a bit too powerful for a class that already had some of the best removal in the game.
I agree Defile is a fun card to use, it encourages positive gameplay. Sure, it;s still a cunt when someone plays it against you but it's a card that requires thought which is rare these days.
Most of my neighborhood are retired, they sit on the streets with their chairs to Scream from one street to another to supposedly Talk between them. What a shitty street am i livin in? This happens every single day from m to s . Please no coperino pasterino and helperino BibleThump
I think it's well designed, but I think it's overpowered at 2 mana. I also don't think it's as smart a card as everyone thinks - it's NOT hard to set up defiles.
it's really the only skill-based card in the meta besides that other warlock legendary that I can't quite remember the name of but does literally the same thing as defile. Btw, that wasn't that epic. You hyped it up to be a massive boardclear for lethal, but then it turned out to be a little disappointing. I still wouldn't have gotten it but not as good as I expected.
Emerson L ok, maybe there are some other skill based cards, but I mainly talk about in the meta. I also don’t own lorewalker, so I guess I cannot play a skill-based deck
I swear its not that hard to cast a good defile.. just make sure you at least see 1 2 and 3, if you want your board to survive at least partially, make sure you dont defile too hard lol.. yeah a real puzzle.
Defile is great card design, agreed, but it's way too powerful. It basically destroys every minion based deck, constructed on curve based play, be it aggro, midrange or just a simple deck. It's weak only against quest druid and resurrect priest. Probably should be 4-5 mana, not 2. Lord godgrey is also broken like this. Warlock is too op since cube and guldan (compared to the other classes).
Scenario: An aggro deck has 1, 2, and 3 health on board going into turn 5. They play a 3 mana 3/4, and attack with their other minions, dealing between 6 and 9 damage. They defile their own board for 5 extra damage. That's almost a 2 mana Leeroy/fireball.
What makes it shit balance wise? how is it any different than3 mana lightning storm or ramping or anything like that? Nigga just because you can't play around or with it dosent mean its an awfully balanced card.
It's so blatantly broken that the only Warlock decks that don't use it are Zoolocks who use Prince Keleseth that doesn't allow other 2mc cards. Your lightning storms, ramping and all that shit is irrelevant as to why it's just an awful card
It's just too powerful, gives you way too many options of clearing the board. I agree that it requires a high amount of skill and intelligence, which is definetely something you want in a card, but when you hit legend, or are at 9+ wins at arena, it just becomes an insanely powerful card, cause everyone can use it. I've spotted the lethal as soon as you topdecked the Crawler, as have many others i assume, you also had another way to get lethal by using the other one too.A 2 mana cost card that gives you complete control of how you want to clear the board, usually resulting in a complete turnaround, while very interesting because of the options it gives you, I definetely think isn't "the best designed card ever".If more cards were using the same design, the game would just turn into smarter/more skilled players zerging dumber/less skilled players, while a match between two skilled players would be an insane shitshow where you'd have the lead bouncing around between them, with them just trying to min-max their cards values, without anything else being able to affect the game (RNG, card draws...)
You just like it because it's a control card, it doesn't take a lot of skill and it does a lot more than 2 mana should be able to do. Counting takes a lot of skill for a Kindergartener not that much for a grown man. Fun to watch the big plays though.
I feel like he is never going to get 1million subs. I tend to check the subscrber count every now and then but it does not seem to increase at all. Those trolls do their work right..
Im gonna disagree on that. I dont think that Defile is the best designed card, balanced or what so ever. It is a healthy card in relation to the other cards that exist and it is a more skill dependent card than others, which is good for the game. BUT if other cards on a that high (or even higher) power level (or even op) wouldnt exist the card would be horrifcally broken. Just because we have a bunch of crazy powerful cards and Defile is less crazy and even regulating these other cards, doesnt make it right.
That's the thing, all cards are balanced based on the power level of other cards, if you theoretically were to remove all the best cards currently in the game, then other cards might become overpowered
oppidumsaxacum The power level of removal is directly related to the power level of the things you're removing. If call to arms didn't exist, that wouldn't make defile better, it would make it worse. If no one played void lord or Hadronox, a lot fewer people would run polymorph and hex.
Your argument doesn't make much sense. If you just say "IF all these other cards were suddenly gone it would be broken," then it becomes irrelevant to talk about card balance at all.
"HIGH SKILL" All it requires is you to literally count 1, 2, 3, ect. Funny how you think this busted spell is 'good design'. No 2 mana spell should have this much power. It can clear boards that even Twisting fucking Nether can't. How is it good design when a 2 mana spell clears more than an 8 mana spell? Especially when the entire point of that 8 mana spell is to clear? Good design my ass. You should go ahead and call Patches a 'High skill, good design' card as well while you're at it.
Rog 1. I KNOW ?! 2. HOW TF WAS IS THAT EVEN CLOSE TO BEING SKILLED ?! A skilled play he did was Siphon Souling the taunt that seemed like no real threat to other people. Defile does not take a single bit of skill. Horrible design.
TQ BD While Rog has a point, I think that the true skill with defile is when you clear your opponent, but not yourself. Are there times when you can mindlessly play defile and get a good result? Absolutely. Can a better player get a better result in the same situation? A lot of the time, yes. That's what makes a well designed card: it's not too complicated for a new player to have success with, but it's complicated enough for an experienced player to crush with. In other words, low skill requirement, high skill cap. As opposed to 80% of hearthstone cards which are low requirement AND low cap.

Enter the coliseum is the best card
of course! It the best way to make separate lines!
Coliseum Managerino Kripperino old card, bad joke
Enter the Coliseum is basically how Brawl should have been. It's a more balanced non RNG based Brawl card
Brawl should've been unplayable trash?
Is that what i said? No.
Coliseum Managerino Kripperino you are usless. That stupid crusader thought you were nice. He is as pathetic as you are.

Defile is my all time favourite Hearthstone card, it's the reason I started playing Warlock
Definately one of my favorite cards in the game, too
Defile is a good example for all new cards to come blizzard remember the beginnings
Imp master+ healing totem+ master of evolution was the combo in tavern of time arena. I managed to pull it off once.

Gorderino Freemerino first on the scene.
Can someone explain wy some of the grizzly's are ghostlike and others normal brown?

Yes, i just love this card already when it was in card review. It is my favourite HS card also.
Defile = being able to count to 10 in the correct order.

Goblin Chainwhirler is much better.
Totally balanced too, but as you can see, all of his mana is blue.. so he can't play it :)
♥
I tought it was Millhouse.
Defile should be the first card added to standard
Defile is an extremely 1, 2, high skill, 3, 4 card.
Where’s my skip

Talks about how defile is a high skill card, showcases a video where he needed two defiles to succeed...

Wait, why would you skip you thinking about how to find lethal, there’s no time for the viewers to find it...
Never got off pornhub so fast
I have to disagree. Pre-nerf undertaker was the best designed card ever
defile is too strong of a card to be considered the best designed card ever. maybe if hearthstone had more similarly powered board clears.
It's just too powerful, gives you way too many options of clearing the board. Make defile standard!
Defile has some good design aspects to it, but its just too cheap.
You just like it because it's a control card, it doesn't take a lot of skill and it does a lot more than 2 mana should be able to do. Counting takes a lot of skill for a Kindergartener not that much for a grown man. Fun to watch the big plays though.

Actually defile is excellently balanced and the only reason it can seem too strong is because the cards it counters are chronically broken.
"HIGH SKILL"

Skipp late again
Bullshit is comiiiing!
Wpwp vegan
Even a card like Sap takes more skill than defile.
You literally need 1.2.3.4 etc. on the board for a free clear for 2 mana. YEAH MUCH SKILL
Minion hits/trades, playing minions and playing other damage dealing cards is where the skill comes from, not from Defile itself.
Rog
