For 60 years I have lived in rural areas. Since always I have taken honey in nature. But always preserving nature and never eliminating the swarm of bees. Here in Brazil there are hundreds of bee breeds with and without stingers and it is very important for human life that bees are preserved.
Is there any other way to take honey from inside the tree? If yes then that is great but I dont think there are any other tools or ways than chopping that particular part of the tree. The guys didnt kill a sigle bee and I am surprised bees did not attack them either. And I don't think bees make hives inside every tree which can lead to the argument that this process may lead to a mass deforestation. We cannot even make an argument that the tree may die. Because it is just like cutting the branch of a tree. Tree does not die after cutting its branches. Trees have their own intelligence. The tree was hollow from inside anyway and I have seen lots of hollow tree trunks which have grown well and big even after its barks fell off naturally. The irony is that some people sitting on a wooden chair putting their coffee on a wooden table and their laptops on a wooden desk commenting on killing of the trees is very surprising. Half of the people here probably have not even seen a good big size tree in their whole life. Just Saying.

The bees don't sting them? ( hands, arms, face, eyes are all exposed ) Or are they just used to the stings & not care? Does smoke distract bees from attacking? They're not using lots of smoke.. In fact it's very little smoke... How long would it take bees to create a hive like that? Will bees find another location & start another hive or will they come back and start over? Is the queen where the bees were hovering inside on upper part? If the smoke was more intense would the bees have left? Lot healthier & nutritious than most desserts... Here in the US we grow and harvest trees just as we do corn and wheat. There is far more tame bees than there are wild bees. People almost never get honey from wild bee trees anymore.

aqui no Brasil , nos lugares afastados dos Grandes centros alguns ainda fazem assim,seria interessante eles deixarem algum favo de mel para as abelhas, e pregarem um pedaço de casca de árvore para tapar o buraco, deste modo eles podem retornar em outra ocasião e colectar mel novamente.eu mesmo já fiz algumas vezes, mas não foi em árvores,mas em cupinzeiros ( ninho de cupim)abandonados e ocupados pelas abelhas.

I know what you mean. I heard a lot of honey bee's but did not see that many an that little smoke rag was barely putting out smoke. They only took the bottom part of the hive. The tree must have a nature well inside that goes up to the real opening up top. For awhile I thought that they had wipe out the hives honey but the tree is big. All they have to do is cover up the hole well enough an they can harvest every year or three months. They live in a warm area so it's honey production year round. Thank You Loader.
