I know this is an older video. However, my son is now 9 and when i tell you from beginning to the end it was like you were talking about my son and I. We just did the ADHD testing and have our follow up this Thursday but it was nice to hear some of “my” thoughts expressed out loud. Thank you for this transparency and this was very therapeutic for me

I'm sorry I'm so late in responding to you! I'm so glad this video was helpful to you! It's not easy but once you learn and understand how his brain works, it makes it much easier! I hope you and your son are doing amazing!

@@Itsme_JazzyB oh no you are perfectly fine. I ended up putt him on Focalin 5mg and so far I have only gotten 4 calls from school all year and as i’m sure you know the anxiety when you see that phone number pop up ..heart racing a mile a minute. However 3 were because he was sick and the other was because he and another boy got into a verbal argument.. after everything that happened in third grade do you know even that call was a relief because it showed he was being physical and the impulse control was working. Now boys will be boys and a 10 year will try it.. especially calling me “bruh” now lol. But the behavior at school is 180…by that i mean the teachers say he’s still chatty but his classroom behavior has drastically improved from last year. My father and my son’s father were completely against medication…however we do “ med holidays” on the weekends so he can learn to self regulate but my dad has admitted he can see the difference from when he is on medication vs not and actually apologized for saying I was “ try to take the easy way out vs punishment “. Mind I tried the discipline tactics but in the end when I asked my son in a moment of distress “ why do you keep acting this way” and my then 9 year old looked at me with tears in his eyes and said “ momma i’m sorry i don’t know but i try not to” ., It broke me and after watching your video it empowered me to listen to MY INSTINCTS as a mother not another’s opinion and at least seek the help i felt he and I both needed. I also later found out I have adhd as well .. i just assumed i was an over extended multitasker. I still have him on the 5 mg and he is to the point where he will tell me how he’s feeling how his day was.. it’s like i have my baby back ..just the sarcastic version lol. I’m sorry it was long winded but you honestly have no idea how much this helped me ❤️
