4th gen farmer from South Dakota here, love ur videos. Just got a tile plow and really enjoyed that last one u made. Would love to see some more of those sometime.
Have you guys ever rolled your corn field's before planting ? Here in michigan We tend to roll our corn fields before planting that lay wet or have heavy bean residue even after tillage. Rolling corn field's gained us 10 bushel an acre gain last year over just planting due to better seed to soil contact .Nice video stay safe and farm on my friends !
Thanks for the review thinking of putting them just in the wheel tracks next year. We use LSW’s on planter so wheel tracks a little tighter but not bad.
You didn’t bore us, you’re now so natural and we learnt a lot form you chatting to us. I’m wondering if we’re company to you when you’re out in the field talking to the camera/us? Thanks as always.
Thanks for the update Chet. I guess the furrow force is looking pretty good right now......wait and see the difference and way the cost and go from there. Good to see you have some down time but your still out in the field lol!!!
This is an excellent video, the consistency of the planting at 10mph is incredible, those units do deliver the goods but at $1700 per row that's a huge investment, only worth it if you get guaranteed increases in yield and strong prices. You're definitely taking a good, measured, scientific approach and not jumping to conclusions or flashing the cash too early. From a non farmer in the UK, thanks! PS we would love to send an inch of rain your way, but we've not seen it ourselves in the English South Midlands!
very good video, mother nature is wild sometimes a crop year is great and the next year it's really bad, you did the best you could, great job very interesting
And our word for the day/ video .. yup you guessed it ..”consistent” .. I lost count actually how many times but .. it’s ok cause you did a really good job explaining !! 👍
Yep great analysis! Yetter row cleaners. Maybe a few more closures gradual working into full planter worth, unless prices boom. Might be a competition one out next year. Or a full planter of them on an actual field test from vendor would be sweet. Let it rain!!!!! Enjoy videos.
In my area, North Central Iowa, everyone I know runs trash wippers. They are considered standard equipment here. Really helps clean the trash out of the furrow and small rocks.
You need to run a flag trial ( I know time is precious). Mark off 1/1000 of an acre- check each morning- first emergers mark with a colored flag. 2nd morning mark emergers with different color and so on until vast majority are emerged. Run one trial for OEM closing system and one for Furrow Force. Leave flags all season-check ears pre harvest.
Seem like so many decisions in agriculture are ultimately down to a gut feeling. There are so many variables to consider, planting conditions are never exactly the same from year to year. You take a punt on something and rely on the balance of probability for a good outcome. Experience and knowing your area is what counts in the end. Had this many times.
Great video. How things have changed John Deere made the 494 and IH made the56 planter 1700$ probably bought the whole planter. Definitely a big change.
Id gladly give ya the 4.5 we have got!! Planted corn.may 11 to 13th got to redo all of it! Rain chances all weekend so far from 1.4 to 2 tenths this weekend, hope to try and row some corn in stale seedbed, got some I can't even walk across, hope to be done with corn by June 5th having my doubts, 80% beans planted now back at 0 on corn
Would happy to send you some moisture from central ne. Four to six inches in some spots. We were dry on top also and now all flooded. It switched in a hurry.
You all might try some Schlagel closing wheels on a few rows next year they are cheaper than furrow force they replace your JD closing wheels We use them because they crumble the ground in wet conditions for more even emergence in cotton
I would gladly send you some Appalachian rain if I could, one of my hay fields looks like a river is running through it due to all the rain we been getting
Sorry to be offtopic but does anybody know of a way to get back into an Instagram account? I somehow lost the account password. I appreciate any help you can offer me
Very kool video, even us non farmers learned something. Just wondering did you go to an AG college or is all your knowledge just from your love of doing this. Thanks for letting us hang out with y'all.🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I like that system but for the price I would buy agleader sureforce since I have all agleader monitors and auto steer. I dont really need it so fancy like furrow force. I have a 1250 case IH 24row with just pneumatic downforce but it works fine for me
Je n'avais jamais vu l'importance de cohérence de levée des plants pour avoir une croissance identique de tous les plans👍, d'où l'importance des réglages des semoirs, cela devient tout un art 👌👌
Big Swede - Chet was talking about rain back in this video correct??? You ok Chet?? LOL Keeping it clean, Central WI Dairy farming....where it’s always clean.
I sure didn't think we would be asking for rain here in MN. It's been awhile where being to dry instead of to wet has been the problem. An inch of rain wouldn't hurt anything. I sure thought we would have gotten some rain with the forecast for the last several days.
Nice info Chet. I didn't believe a word that Erik said, when he said you were all beauty and no brains. Or did he say,.....that you are a real beauty?!?! (Ha!Ha!) Looks like you have a nice crop of rocks growing there.
Usually when we are messing with new tech in Australia Usually no one knows how it'll work in our conditions So we do trials, like with your pressure I'd pick an even feild then do one swipe at 10psi one at 20 and so on till your way over the recommended spec Then do your whole program at what ever the recommendation is Then you can check later the whole range from too soft to too hard then pick the best for next year Iv found in our sandy soils 90% of manufacturers way over do the pressure In your heavy conditions they're prob under doing it
The Furrow Force rows looks good compared to your other furrow planters on your planter. As we have a combie drill with power harrows on the front of it we don't have this problem.
Like your videos Chet and Nicole. Don’t know what you too tell you on the row cleaners. We have them on our planter, but we usually run them all the way the majority of the time. Sometimes the only purpose they serve for us are rock guards for the row units. I do not think the next planter will them on it, but every farm is different.
need to find a way to make a test plot and put this closing system across the whole planter and half the test plot then the other half plot use the regular jd closing system would like it to be in the same field that way there should not be that much difference in soil types and see what comes off the plot
Little more compaction I think always helps... Although that will vary with different soil conditions. $1700/row....ouch. Off topic question: ON your soybean ground from year before, can you zerotill plant corn in? The high-speed planter, was it worth it? It definitely sped up planting, but did you guys notice more wear and tare on the equipment? Burn more fuel etc?
No till doesn’t work in our area. And high speed was well worth it and use way more fuel per day but that’s expected when doing x2 the ac per day not sure on fuel per ac. Tractor isn’t new enough to tell us that.
We expect minor equipment to pay for itself in two years. That works pretty well when you consider wear and upkeep, and the probability of newer/ better stuff coming.
Most people have no idea how much science goes into farming.
Hi Chet, Good video with a lot of valuable information and comparision of two types of equipment. Keep up the good work.
Very interesting Chet. Thanks for sharing your observations.
As always a very well done and informative video. Thanks Chet & Nicole. Hope your having a great day.
For this non farmer it’s amazing what I learn from watching your videos. Wish you guys the best of luck this year. Good job!!
Awesome as always,Chet!!! Keep it up, sir.
Awesome video. I like the details. Keep up the Great Work!!
Loved your video. Really educational.
4th gen farmer from South Dakota here, love ur videos. Just got a tile plow and really enjoyed that last one u made. Would love to see some more of those sometime.
Thanks Chet for another great video!
Keep up the good work Chet and Nicole
Great information on plantings crops , Thanks stay safe
Keep up the good work really enjoy your videos

Thanks for the video chat have a nice memorial day

Not boring at all, very informative. We are having some rain in Ct and we'll try to send some your way :).
Another concise explanation; I'm learning !
Thanks for the update Chet. I guess the furrow force is looking pretty good right now......wait and see the difference and way the cost and go from there. Good to see you have some down time but your still out in the field lol!!!
Very good video and analysis, congrats
Great explanation. You are very knowledgeable.
Thanks for the seed in the ground talk.
THANKS FOR EXPLAINING 👍👍👍
Don't know what kind of wind screen you were using but the sound was great in what looked like quite high winds. Thanks for all the good info Chet

As always Chet, you had a good video!!
Chet awesome video! In northern Iowa we have 2 1/2 and it is still raining! I will give you a couple inches!
very good video, mother nature is wild sometimes a crop year is great and the next year it's really bad, you did the best you could, great job very interesting
Interesting. Very informative
Rain forecasted there tonight, Memorial Day. Early Tuesday morning. Stay safe!
Your really knowledgeable Chet you’d make one heck of a salesman👊🍺
Chet, do a follow-up video doing growing season. Can use video comparison next year.
Really good info, value your options.
And our word for the day/ video .. yup you guessed it ..”consistent” .. I lost count actually how many times but .. it’s ok cause you did a really good job explaining !! 👍
Hey Larson! My dad showed my your channel and I only understand half of the equipment I need to get back to the fields. Stay safe!
You do a great of Explaining Things .
Awesome video
Love ya chet fav farmer on youtube
Happy memerial day chet! God bless!
Man you are a great UA-camr, good job 👍🏻
Interesting information! 👍🏼
I agree with the comment below. You are a good youtuber and I think you're my favorite youtube farmer
Chet - good observations & analysis. Right on! Will it pay for it's self?
Professor of Vo Ag- Chet.. Interesting, good job.
Thanks
Yep great analysis! Yetter row cleaners. Maybe a few more closures gradual working into full planter worth, unless prices boom. Might be a competition one out next year. Or a full planter of them on an actual field test from vendor would be sweet. Let it rain!!!!!
Enjoy videos.
Great job good explanation Will you finish putting the rest of the rows on if you have to make the decision today?Keep up the good channel we enjoy
In my area, North Central Iowa, everyone I know runs trash wippers. They are considered standard equipment here. Really helps clean the trash out of the furrow and small rocks.
Most interesting observations and reasoning, thank you. As you said the costings look rather dubious to me based on very limited data etc.
You need to run a flag trial ( I know time is precious). Mark off 1/1000 of an acre- check each morning- first emergers mark with a colored flag. 2nd morning mark emergers with different color and so on until vast majority are emerged. You take a punt on something and rely on the balance of probability for a good outcome. Experience and knowing your area is what counts in the end. Had this many times.
I think they help it's like you said you have to get everything set up right
Great video. How things have changed John Deere made the 494 and IH made the56 planter 1700$ probably bought the whole planter. Definitely a big change.
corns 🌽 looking good. , thanks for showing the difference with and without the furrow force, Sending rain your way Chet ☔️ 💦 ✅

Chet ya'll need some south Texas weather, we already have ears on them there stalks..
It’s so said when you are done with planting
Chet maybe you can do another comparison with the corn in a month or so . It will be interesting to see the growth
It seems to me keaton seed firmers with mojo wires do a good job embedding the seed in the trench and soil moisture.
You all might try some Schlagel closing wheels on a few rows next year they are cheaper than furrow force they replace your JD closing wheels
We use them because they crumble the ground in wet conditions for more even emergence in cotton
Keep it east of Big Stone for at least a week. Still struggling with too wet over west.
crazy to see somebody pay soo much attention to such a small thing, definitely not just throwing some seed in the garden...
Here in Holland we are also begging for some rain. 💦
I would gladly send you some Appalachian rain if I could, one of my hay fields looks like a river is running through it due to all the rain we been getting
Chet, row cleaners is the way to go. That’s my opinion at least. Great video!
Chet, you are making calculated decisions such as a business would do. This is a great analysis and a great way to succeed at farming
Not boring at all
You ain't just a pretty boy, you can tell that you know a lot already about your Farms
It is a business decision! - lol
Sorry to be offtopic but does anybody know of a way to get back into an Instagram account?
I somehow lost the account password. I appreciate any help you can offer me
@Arturo Colton instablaster =)
Glad to see the corn coming up hope ya get some rain
Very kool video, even us non farmers learned something. Just wondering did you go to an AG college or is all your knowledge just from your love of doing this. Thanks for letting us hang out with y'all.🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I never went to college.
Your doing just fine bud
If you put all 4 furrow force one end of your planter and run an 8 row head you can do a yield test.
I like that system but for the price I would buy agleader sureforce since I have all agleader monitors and auto steer. I dont really need it so fancy like furrow force. I have a 1250 case IH 24row with just pneumatic downforce but it works fine for me
That's what she said!!!
Je n'avais jamais vu l'importance de cohérence de levée des plants pour avoir une croissance identique de tous les plans👍, d'où l'importance des réglages des semoirs, cela devient tout un art 👌👌
The corn coming up pretty even in them rows with Farrow force. But it will be interesting in a month how they look. The true tales will be at harvest.
Big Swede - Chet was talking about rain back in this video correct??? You ok Chet?? LOL Keeping it clean, Central WI Dairy farming....where it’s always clean.
Could do with some water over here in the uk 😀
Not a farmer, but love watching your vids. I gotta ask this question...
How far do you guys travel to get Chinese take-out???
30 miles.
9:30 having issue here in NEIA alot if seeds are in dry ground we need rain,.we get few sprinkles but no real rain
I almost started running my pivots here in Nebraska last week it was so dry, this week we have flooding everywhere.. Ya just can't win lol
Cool beans! Or should I say cool corn.
I sure didn't think we would be asking for rain here in MN. It's been awhile where being to dry instead of to wet has been the problem. An inch of rain wouldn't hurt anything. I sure thought we would have gotten some rain with the forecast for the last several days.
Ya guys should get some Yetter Trashwoopers
When is the equipment tour coming out?
Next week sometime.
Watch, This Farm Wife video if your needing some water. Careful what you wish for. Good video...
Nice info Chet. I didn't believe a word that Erik said, when he said you were all beauty and no brains. Or did he say,.....that you are a real beauty?!?! (Ha!Ha!) Looks like you have a nice crop of rocks growing there.

Then do your whole program at what ever the recommendation is
Then you can check later the whole range from too soft to too hard then pick the best for next year
Iv found in our sandy soils 90% of manufacturers way over do the pressure
In your heavy conditions they're prob under doing it
The Furrow Force rows looks good compared to your other furrow planters on your planter. As we have a combie drill with power harrows on the front of it we don't have this problem.
That furrow force looks like it helped with emergence
Nice 👍 haircut
You might have to buy Dougo some more HP for next year
Any update now that harvest has been completed and you have final data?
When do you plant sweet corn or do you not do that
Like your videos Chet and Nicole. Don’t know what you too tell you on the row cleaners. We have them on our planter, but we usually run them all the way the majority of the time. Sometimes the only purpose they serve for us are rock guards for the row units. I do not think the next planter will them on it, but every farm is different.
How many acres do you guys farm. And how far are your farthest fields

No till doesn’t work in our area. And high speed was well worth it and use way more fuel per day but that’s expected when doing x2 the ac per day not sure on fuel per ac. Tractor isn’t new enough to tell us that.
The big key is final yield sometimes what’s visible now might not show in final yield unfortunately you won’t be able to tell using 4 of them
At $4 corn that would take 425 bushels a row for return on investment. The question I'd have what's life span and upkeep cost
Yes, what is the life span. Are there any wear parts that need to be replaced regularly?
We expect minor equipment to pay for itself in two years. That works pretty well when you consider wear and upkeep, and the probability of newer/ better stuff coming.
Did you end up going with all furrow force?
