In 1973, Harry Dean Stanton played Homer Van Meter in the movie Dillinger. Van Meter was a distant cousin of my mother. She met him once. He’s buried in my home town of Ft. Wayne, IN. After seeing Harry in that movie, I became a fan of his. I certainly want to visit his grave soon. I’m in Lexington occasionally. I have 2 sisters that live not far from there, in North Middletown.
Harry Dean Stanton was in a lot of movies that I watched, so I knew him. I didn't recognize JD Crowe's name but I sure recognized his face. Tons of talent in these 2 men.
LOVE Harry Dean Stanton!!!! Was PLEASANTLY SURPRISED that he hailed from Kentucky!!!! And what a LOVELY Headstone he has. Mr. J.D. Crowe; no, I can't say that I've heard of him, and my parents were BIG on "Bluegrass Music!"
Harry Dean Stanton was an amazing actor. He gave a real personality to each character I have ever saw him play. J.D. Crow has been to my area of Virginia for several bluegrass shows. I have not personally saw him...but I know that he had many many fans here. Hope you have a great weekend! God bless.
I do remember the wonderful actor Harry Dean Stanton. And I remember him from The Green Mile. One of my favorite movies. I had not heard of J.D. Crowe. But thanks for sharing his grave site with us! 💕 🙏
The first time I saw Stanton was in Pretty in Pink. Then I saw The Green Mile and thought, where have I seen this guy before. Great performances in both films. He was such an underrated actor. R.I.P. Harry!💋❤️🙏
Kelly's Heroes is my all time favourite and the cast are immortal in it , all drew on their military training and experience to convey a gravitas during shooting it's rarely seen today along with the Green Mile it makes the audience think and laugh and cry without profanity and sexualisation. Rip Mr Stanton
I was born and raised in Ky. So i have heard of both. JD Crowe is very popular here. I think people recognize Harry Dean Statton's face as an actor, but not by his name. He did have some very memorable roles.
Thank you so very much for visiting J.D. Crowe resting place. Loved his 5 string banjo music as much or more than any 5 string banjo player. He was an inspiration to so so many 5 string player. I adored his music and the New South so very much. Next to Earl Scruggs, JD was the greatest. Thank you again for taking time to visit JDs resting place. Your work is tremendous!
Loved Harry Dean Stanton in every role he played. I know he appeared in a lot of films, even playing the part of an angel in "One Magic Christmas". He was very adaptable in his acting, and what a great performance acting alongside Yaphet Koto as the ship's engineering team in "Alien". "Here, kitty, kitty, kitty. C'mon Jonesey, where are ya?"
I've heard of both of these men. Was also surprised that Stanton was from Kentucky. I also a Kentuckian am not real fond of bluegrass music...only a few songs I like. Thanks for honoring these two men!!!
Harry Dean Stanton was one of the greats. I loved every role I saw him in. I believe that his marker is just a cenotaph though. If I remember correctly his ashes were spread in a pond, possibly the one at the end of the video. Bill McKinney was also in the Green Mile, I'd met him shortly before the Green Mile was shot. I was in the process of writing a western screenplay (never finished) and Bill was extremely supportive of my efforts. The last time we had lunch together he said he had a "friend" to join us and that friend turned out to be Harry Dean Stanton. I learned a lot from those two. One thing being, how to remain humble and always be teachable.
Well acquainted with both. I had no idea Mr. Stanton was a Kentuckian! He was a welcome site in any movie. Loved him as a salty dog in down periscope! He was a real one after all. Lest I forget you do a pretty good job as well.
Oh my, how fascinating. I LOVE The Green Mile, top of the list of my favourite movies, next to Shawshank. I have to admit to never having heard of this man before the movie, but really interesting to see his grave. Thank you for sharing 😊 The musician person, never heard of him before

Oh yes, Garry Dean Stanton was an outstanding character actor! My first introduction to him was as the dad to Molly Ringwald in "Pretty in Pink". But of course he was amazing in "Paris, TX".

Just about movie Henry Dean Stanton star in always play either banjo, guitar or harmonic.
I had heard his ashes were scattered around Lexington. Is it possible that Harry’s grave is really just a marker with no actual remains there?
I read that on Wikipedia (sourced from Findagrave).
