I got a 1997 50p in my change recently. Looked like it had just come from the Mint. Know it's only worth 50p but kept it anyway. Never seen one so shiny and unblemished.

Just been given a really clean London Underground roundel in my change today. Its a love/hate relationship i have with commemorative coins. If i get given a commemorative coin i almost feel short changed because if i get 14 pounds in change and one is a commemorative i feel i have 12 pounds in change and a 2 pound coin that i have to keep!

Hi Christopher, as you find 50p's you place them in two sections, and sometimes you put up the coin with a number reference; excuse my ignorance as I have been collecting the odd 50p, but where is this list? Your collection book catalogue by number? There's a lot of information out there as to value and Uncirculated coins, but I'm curious to what determines your "set"? Thanks

The old version of the £1 had commemoratives. Maybe they just decided to stick to 50p and £2 coins as more surface area? (Plus alphabet 10p of course)
