Fun fact: the feelings you describe regarding you starting your project (and how you know they turn up at every project but still stress you out) we’re summarized in a model called the Information Seeking Process by Carol Kuhlthau. We learned about it in our first semester and it’s given me peace with those feelings ever since because I can always track where I am at in the process :D
I love how we are teaching each other under this video. Thank you for your comment on the ISP. I never heard of it and I'm sure it will help me so much with my upsoming master's thesis!!!
I know this is a 2 month old comment but I wanted to reply to say thank you! I'm working on my masters and I've been stuck at the exploration stage (i.e. confusion and doubt) for so long and I didn't know this was a thing so it helps to learn about it
I really admire you finding time/discipline to study AND read books AND make cool videos AND make pretty art, idk how you do it!!! Also I am OBSESSED with your roommate, she seems so cute and fun
The Harvard internship is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Do not let this lockdown crisis depress you, the world has beaten tougher obstacles. Work hard and let nothing deter you from completing the programme. Get to know your subject backwards, paper your walls with memo notes.
I can so relate to you with working on a thesis and studying from home. You don't talk to anyone and then get doubts if we are putting enough effort or going in the right direction with the research. Talking to people really helps to know I we are doing too much or too little. sometimes I exhaust myself thinking that I am not doing enough since there is no baseline. It really helps to see a video like this to stay grounded. Cheers to you!
So good to see that you make time to relax even though you have stuff to finish! I'm always surprised when people in studyvlogs just keep on going and going, I feel like that gives a very unrealistic example. I also loved the chill vibe of the video! I'm going to continue writing a big paper this week after a bit of a break, and you're definately motivating me!
Congrats on the internship! One thing that has helped me while I’m reading articles and taking notes/making presentations is a second monitor. I would highly recommend one especially since you plan to do a lot of data analysis.
It was a whole movie! Amazing vibes! And it's so exciting with the science plot in the heart of it! And the book pick was such a match for the week's vlog! Holy Smokes!
Watching your videos honestly motivates me to do things, so thank you! I was procrastinating on doing my final research paper and writing a personal statement for a a graduate school but after watching this video finally decided to stop procrastinating.
Great video! Making me miss university days! I remember well those days of researching and note taking and writing although you're way more organized than I ever was! Looking forward to more videos soon!
I’ve always enjoyed your channel and I really loved this type of content; I found it very calming, relaxing and enjoyable ✨💕 Well done on your internship and good luck for your presentation 🤞🏻
OMG that sounds so cool. I understand very little but I think brain stuff is so interesting. Congrats on the internship and good luck! You'll do amazing 💛 Loved the video!
I had the same thing happen with this recent project. So, I'm in my last PoliSci class for my minor. I took this professor I've never taken before, but I knew he was one of the three godfathers of the Political Science department and is fantastic. This guy is the ideal of what I hold all profs up to and I wanted to do well. Throughout the semester though, I got 70s and 75s on everything when I'm used to getting 86's. So, for our final paper, I worked furiously. I spent 5 weeks on it, I was eating an extra thousand calories a day because, for every 500 words you write, you burn 250 calories, I didn't work out, and my stomach was in knots. But, in my head, this paper had to be perfect. My topic started as looking at "Why does Quebec have so many S.15 charter challenges," then it became "Why does Quebec have so many pay equity S.15 charter challenges?" Then, by the end, it was, "What makes Quebec unique when it comes to pay equity charter challenges?" And, nothing really came together, it was over word count, I didn't like my writing, so on and so forth. But, I just handed it in because it's only worth 25% of my grade.
Congratulations on your internship!! I just started reading Almond by Sohn Won-pyung and your explanation about the amygdala was more interesting for me than any other time. Thanks.
Loved that format! I am in my exam preparation phase so the length was perfect to watch throughout the whole day! Would love to see more of that style. Also it was really motivating to watch you and study along in a way
Congrats on the internship! Also, super random, but your hair looks very smooth and soft in this vlog. (Not me subtly looking for recommendations for conditioners) As always, love the vibes of the video, and the colour grading.
Hey Leonie, I really resonated with what you said about not comparing yourself to others. It's something that I am struggling with right now because I am also doing my masters in Copenhagen and I constantly feel like what I am doing isn't enough and I'm not quite sure how much I enjoy my program. I really appreciate seeing your process and learning about your masters journey because it helps to clarify some of my own doubts. Love these types of study vlogs! Thanks for being a great content creator 🙏💕
I love how you use Notion. Can you maybe do a beginners guide on it? That would be so great and very much appreciated! 😍❤️Thank you for this type of content and for being so real with us about not finishing the articles. The hustle is currently so glamourized. So seeing videos like yours where you set yourself realistic goals and describe your real progress is so lovely. And your voice is soooo soothing. Thank you for your videos, Leonie. ❤️
I don't think I have ever seen you so elated as I have in this video. I'm very excited for you and hope that you enjoy the experience with Harvard. Merry Christmas
The sealing wax is a nice old-fashioned touch. I use stickers. tbh Drafting the name on the envelope seems a bit much, but that's only bc I like my handwriting now and it formerly gave me shame. Anyway, I'm so glad to hear about your marvelous internship - if it were appropriate, I would be very proud of you.
Omg thank you for this video. Watching you working on your internship really motivated me to do finally start all the things I have to do for my studies.
Thank you so much for this kind of videos. It's so relaxing and informative (I really need to start using notion). I love your videos so much. Your voice is so soothing and I just love the cosy and yet informative content you post. Thank you so very much. Your videos keep me sane during this pandemic. 😍❤️Lots of love from Switzerland. 🇨🇭
Hi I just want to say that I really enjoy your uni content, because I'm thinking about doing biomedical sciences at the UvA so your videos give me an idea of what that would be like. Good luck with the rest of your internship!
hi Leonie! I love your videos and I'd like to ask you some questions about uni. Why did you choose to study biomedical science? And what are your thoughts on this major, do you like it? I'm considering studying it when I get into college. I love your content soo much, hope you can answer the questions 💖
Hi Leonie!! I'm feeling exactly the same about starting something new and feeling lost... I'm currently starting in a project which goal is to use multi-omics data (like RNA-sequencing data, methylation and mutation data) to study gliomas (brain tumors), also as part of my Master's thesis, so it feels like we are going through (quite similar) things together eheh. I hope everything goes smoothly with your internship (by the way, your project seems very cool!)
@@TheBookLeo Thanks!! I found your channel because of our shared love for (mainly fantasy) books but I was very pleased when I found out you were also in STEM! (I have a bachelors in biomedical engineering and I am doing a Masters in Big Data)
Great vlog! I'm actually looking into Python myself because my supervisor wants to use single cell RNA sequencing in a future experiment, which is... Completely new and really interesting but scary if you haven't done big data analysis since uni. 😅 I'm actually doing the same as you, reading and just putting it all in one big file! I'm still at that stage at the moment... I think it's a great method but the downside is that after a week of reading and nothing concrete to show it sometimes feels as if you're not really making progress. Good luck with your internship and I hope you share some more of these vlogs in the future!
@@TheBookLeo 👀 Aha, will have to look into that then! I'm probably not going to have to do it myself because... No haha, we will ask the biostatistics departement for help, but I would like to know the general concept so I at least know what they're doing. Thanks!
The jazz-tinged music that played over the start and finish of the video set alarm bells ringing! It's called "Please Don't Talk About Me When I'm Gone." Hopefully Leone isn't thinking of leaving us...life just wouldn't be the same!
Hey, Leonie! Just read about the Netherlands going under lockdown due to the new variant. Hope you're doing well. Stay safe and take care of yourself x🍀❤️
Just wanted to say congratulations because your channel is growing so fast! And it’s so well deserved. And also I feel like you would look soooo good with short hair lol
hi, I don't know if it's helpful but if you do watercolour the best solution preventing the paper to get wigly is to tape him down with some paper tape before applying paint. ❤
Heyyy, loved the video and happy to hear you enjoyed Frankenstein! 😊 You talking about highlighting stuff, then looking stuff up and highlighting more stuff to look up is basically the story of my life, I can relate very much 😂 Also, I find it so interesting to see how much statistics and coding is needed for the different subjects! I am currently doing a masters in physical geography and also need these (although on a much more basic level than you) :)
Do you feel the excitement for academia, like you have in this video, now? I am constantly wanting to study. Finding that balance between doing stuff in the world and exploring knowledge is challenging. You look really enthusiastic about neuroscience here. The moment after you completed your project, I could identify with that feeling. That getting something finished feeling is very good.
Hi Leonie, your master's degree field is very interesting. if you ever publish an article about your research please share with us. I would like to read it and learn more about how my brain works.

if you have finished your studies in neuroscience, would it be possible for you to make a sort of review for the degree? i am really interested in neuroscience and neuroscience research, but i am afraid that going into that field won’t be possible without having to test on animals? it would be really cool if you could give some of your insights!
