    I've been very impressed with your videos train man, especially the closed down lines from the past and the fact you actually get as close as you can where these abandoned train lines were located. Great job ! I'm curious to know how you developed an interest in the Melbourne train network and how you obtain your information.

      Thanks a lot Marinko. First of all I appreciate the support. Melbourne's Train System and abandoned lines have been lifetime interests and passions of mine. I don't know what it is, but I have many great childhood memories consisting of trains. As for the information, I do look at Wikipedia, however unreliable it may be, it still has heaps of information. I also look at historical news articles and anecdotes which give interesting facts about certain things. Hopefully you enjoy my channel for however long I do it for, and let me know any videos you want to see!

    The changes and the growth of Melbourne over the last 30 years is amazing. I grew up there. Left in 1987. Returned in 2017. I felt like Rip Van Winkle. So many old landmarks gone. So many new one built.

      Agreed, you must have left Melbourne as the Port Melbourne and St Kilda lines closed, fascinating. I'm sure you would have had a shock at the growth you'd have seen and I'm very jealous, shame about all the old landmarks though, thanks!

      @@thetrainman548 When I left, Port Melbourne was just that, a port. Only modern building was the, so called, World Trade Centre and Coroners court. In 2017 I planned to stay at the Southern Cross Hotel for sentimental reason. That was a shock. Princes Bridge Station gone. I was on the Hurstbridge line. Walking around the city after 30 years It was the most surreal feeling and I felt like a time traveller.

    They started in 2018 and won't finish until 2025/26
    Cross river rail started in 2019 and is nowhere near as far as the metro tunnel (they're about 3 metres deep last I checked) and it is supposed to be finished in 2024.
    Either Melbourne is really slack or Brisbane has made an insane overestimation in their completion time. Obviously the tunnel in Melbourne is longer, but it isn't THAT significant. Brisbane is about 2 years behind Melbourne right now but is supposed to finish a year early.

      1. Rapid Urbanisation (more people moving to cities)

      I was right, was I? There has always been this problem in Australia, greedy and profiting Estate Agencies/Shires/Councils. More land sold, more houses built, more rates there will be, more money they make. They couldn't careless where they house people as long as the times are good and there is lots of fuel to travel back and forth, increasing the likely chance that it will run out quicker. And then, how will these people go to work. I mean, what work is there for millions of people now that the industries I remember are no longer around and gone to China? See? Do they really care where they will end up, living in the bush that was my favorite place i went for, e.g. Woodstock, fishing and rabitting? I really don't understand who are they actually housing, certainly not Australians, but all the rabbits from overseas. It's a shame we had to come to this, as Sunbury will be remembered by many as a special place like Woodstock. We are losing everything for the sake of population explosion.
      While they go off to work, sweating, they (Estate Agents, Banks, builders, Councils, and China), all profit. Hence the reason this scheme of throwing people in the bush works really well for these clever crooks. And then, watch the Chinese agents from local Agencies knocking on your doors and demand to sell sell sell and doing your head in. Watch the Hawkers doing the usual weekend door knocking. None of these profiters care about the future, ravaging lands and forests, not even thinking that this dry, arid continent lacks water. Can you just imagine what it will do to all these bush towns if there is another 9 or 10 year drought? We are putting ourselves in grave dangers from all this population explosion, yet nobody but myself show any concern. And then, like the COVID-19 disaster, we will all go crazy, except that it will not be a lockdown. It will be like Soylent Green, no work, no food, only biscuits made from dead humans. Have you seen the movie?

    Do you think the tunnel should be connected to South Yarra Station?

    • @thetrainman548
      @thetrainman548  4 роки тому +2

      I think the tunnel should have been connected (little late now with the entrances built south of the station), however I know it would have been near impossible to do it, seeing the angle of South Yarra and The Metro Tunnel are perpendicular to each other. Would be great to hear your thoughts and I hope you enjoyed!

    Where is the Victorian Socialist Dictatorship getting these employment figures from? A new suburb, most likely housing low income residents from foreign lands, who are quite happy to live on welfare, provided by they keep voting labor. This is SO transparent to those of us with our heads NOT buried up our arses.
