- Another test but this time with Evans Hydraulic heads on the toms. 10" and 13".
On snare I use Aquarian head, but placed with two cutted heads on top. With that I lower the pitch and get a fuller sound. On bass drum I use Remo powerstroke clear head. It's recorded in Logic with no eq, just raw files. Thanks for watching!

You certainly get that "Phat 70s" sound with those hydraulics. I switched out the stock tom heads with Evans Calftones the snare with an Remo coated Ambassador. I left the bass heads stock with a little bit of muffling to take out overtones. It works great for our Jazz trio and so lightweight. I do find the stock 20 wire strainer a bit much so have ordered a 12 strand to let the snare shell sound more aka fatter sound.
love the sound! perfect cymbal combo also.
Vielen Dank
Sounds great, man!
Thanks man! It's funny, I have the same kit and was wondering how the Evans Hydraulic heads would sound on the toms, also, I was thinking of getting a powerstroke on the BD, so that was a perfect demo! Thanks mate!
When I find that 18” p3… it’s going on that kick for sure lol
It’s really impressive bro. When I bought my Club Jam I honestly didn’t realize there were so many different versions of it!!!
Thanks man! Just clearify, there is just one version of heads Tama send out. I’m just do some experimenting with different heads and try to demonstrate how they sound. I think they are quiet versatile for that price of money.
@@westerlu77 Yeah man! That's dope, and they really are. What I meant though is that I didn't realize how many versions of the Club Jam kit there were! I don't have the pancake one, I have the bigger one but still with shallow drums. Sounds great as well. Sounds like a great bebop kit
@@WardenOnDrums I traded in my club jam flyer for the club jam pancake. I just like how the pancake kit seems to consolidate even smaller than the flyer kit
It would be interesting to hear it with the MD421 mics pointing at the under of each tom. They are "end address" microphones so you have one mic pointed at the side of the snare drum and one pointed at your shin.
That’s a good idea. I will try some heads combination with that setup in near future on my channel. Stay tuned.
Exactly what I thought
@@ostfeldhahnemoserI’ve finally made a video with same heads but a better mic placement I think under the toms. See my latest video. 😊
They sound awesome with that set up and look good. The black with the red toms would look killer as well. I would LOVE to hear this kit with Reno Ebony emperor “suede” heads on the toms as well.
And what beater is on the BD?
Thank you! I’ll see what I can do. The beater is a Yamaha pedal together with Vic Firth VKB5. It looks old fashioned but it is new. Very punschy sound from it. Highly recommended!
@@westerlu77 😀 The ebony “suede” head is very underrated. Thanks for replying!
@williamperri3437 Do you mean this head? remo.com/product/emperor-black-suede
@@westerlu77 Yes! Excellent sounding and feeling heads. You should try 1 out or buy a set. Look and feel great. Let me know! Report back 😂
Cool, what kind of peadl/beater are you using ? Looks like an old fashioned thing, but unlike other demo of the same kickdrum it sounds very round and full !
It’s actually a Yamaha pedal together with a Vic Firth VKB5. It looks old fashioned but it is new. Very punschy sound from it. Highly recommended!
@@westerlu77 wow very interesting thanks !!
Can i use a red hydraulic in a 13 snare jam club?
I guess so. Why not?
