Sinning is More Fun in Summer: A Small Wave Board Test

- Is riding a small wave surfboard sinful? All that extra foam, that shortened length, that user-friendliness... it can certainly make your edges a little softer, kill off a little of your need to push harder. But goddamn it, if surfboards designed for summer-centric waves aren't the most pleasurable little objects. They're a quiver requirement for most everyday surfers now, especially those who live in metropolitans and need something that'll inject some vibrance into a very dull city beach rip bowl.
But, which one is most suited to you? Every shaper worth their dust has a step-down, fish or twin in the range, and the choice can be overwhelming. So, because Stab and Surfstitch live to give, we took Taj Burrow, Craig Anderson and Chippa Wilson to a north coast NSW location, gave them seven anonymous surfboards and had them test and review the crafts.

Now do the same thing with some 40-yo weekend warriors riding 2 ft east coast US mush, then I can really take the reviews to heart.

In Southern California these waves would be a substantial swell, not small.
Why are they riding well overhead waves on a "small wave board"?

Stab! You guys continue to put out the best surf content. Best film making, sick lady narrator, awesome surfers (especially Ando), sweet location, sick shapers, and sick video concepts! Well done once again.
This is a good way to not hurt any shapers feelings by avoiding making performance shortboards for pros to compare.
Plus having 3 pros' opinions is more reliable than going with one person. Awesome awesome awesome!
Yeah if only they took proper sized surfboards and didn't make Taj surf boards 4-5 liters too small especially in what they call summer surf. You can see Taj digging all the rails on all of his turns. Stab in the dark has a working concept, I think this just hurts shapers more because they didn't ask for what shapers think is ideal summer board.
And then Craig is the worst person to listen to in stuff like. Because he can surf only in his style but can't really surf well perfoming wise
