Lyrics:
He called her on the road
From a lonely cold hotel room
Just to hear her say I love you one more time
But when he heard the sound
Of the kids laughing in the background
He had to wipe away a tear from his eye
A little voice came on the phone
Said Daddy when you coming home
He said the first thing that came to his mind
I'm already there
Take a look around
I'm the sunshine in your hair
I'm the shadow on the ground
I'm the whisper in the wind
I'm your imaginary friend
And I know I'm in your prayers
Oh I'm already there
I lost 3 of my marines in Afghanistan, and this song played at all of there funerals. RIP brothers. I will not forget you!

I am sorry for your loss. I didn't know your father, but I bet he was a good man.
He's watching over you everyday
I lost my dad on August the 24th 2020
@@joshvanbergen I am sorry to hear that. It’s never easy to lose a parent or another relative or friend. I know how you feel, because I lost my dad in March of 2007. Over time, It seems to be a little bit easier to deal with. But we always have that heartache for their loss.
So Sorry for your loss,...he lives on! :) My Dad is gone too.
My dad wasn’t in the army.. my dad was serving 5 year sentence in prison when I was just a kid.. he dedicated this song to me.. I always would ask him when he was coming home. He’s been free since 2002 💕 love you pops

I’m so glad he came back and you’re together now ❤️🙏

As a former member of the NYPD and current retired PAPD officer who worked on 09-11-01, I've been listening to this song quite a bit leading up to today, the 20th anniversary of that fateful day. Everytime I hear it I'm brought to tears thinking about the words.
"Im already there, take a look around, I'm the sunshine in your hair, I'm the shadow on the ground..." Words that many people did not get a chance to say to their love ones. Thank you for this beautiful song.
May God Bless Us All.
Thank u for your service and God bless your heart and thank u for everything u have done in ur line of duty
It is a beautiful song.

So powerful Sir....I remember my Mom and Sister, traveled from Corpus Christi to Killeen, 2003, before my Co. flew the next day to the desert. My Mom and sister, had no idea, in the middle of the night, which barracks I was at, at North Ft.Hood....only the Angel of God, his mighty hand, cause my Mom and Sister to park their car in front of my barracks and she looked around and asked a soldier, where 887th Co was and the soldier said, Ma'am, your looking at the barracks. Praise the Lord how mighty God is. I was in shock my when I saw my Mom and Sister, we embraced, hugged, spent time together, prayed and next day, my family was there to see me off to the desert in Kuwait 2003. Going to be Twenty years ago!!! God is good!!!
wow
From a sister to her brother: Fight. We love you no matter what! Please, Fight hard. You are loved. God bless!

I still miss my uncle Jeff he died 2007 n this is the song to at his funeral we miss 😢 💔 😔 😪 😞 n love u tons always w us till we meet again fly high our angels
The first time I heard this song was when the Iraq war started, and I had to drop off my husband to go to war. I had just given birth, and our daughter was only two (2) months old. It was the most difficult thing I had to do, because we did not have any family nearby, so I had to play the role of both mom and dad. I remember hearing this song for the first time after I dropped my husband off and I cried so hard I had to pull off the road. We were stationed in Camp Lejeune NC, and I had to go to the K-Mart there and buy the song. Once I got there, I remember that I don't even know the name of the song or the artist who sang it. After describing it to the lady, she helped me find it. My husband's seven (7) month deployment turned to fourteen (14) months, and it was the worst 14 month of my life. This was before cell phone became popular, and he could only call us from a satellite phone with horrible reception, but I looked forward to those phone calls. I could go for weeks without hearing from him, and I was just worried not knowing if he was still alive or not. I cried myself to sleep so many times listening to this song because they conveyed the same message my husband said to me. Every time I hear this song, it brings back those memories and I thank God for bringing my husband home safely, because I know some friends whose spouses did not make it. Thank you Lonestar for making this song.
Your hero has a strong woman 💪👨👩👧👦🇱🇷 thank you!
Your story touches us. As a band, we (Lonestar) do what we do because of folks like you that embrace our music and having it be a part of your life is so rewarding to us. Thank you for sharing that. We dedicate this song every night when we play it, to our military soldiers and their families, also first responders. God bless.

From a Australian I couldn’t stop crying watching this video… 😭😭😭
Does being Australian make you special? Why mention Australia? Did you expect everyone to say "WOW YOU'RE AUSTRALIAN???"

My dad spent 27 years in the Navy. He was deployed to Korea and Vietnam. I used to look out the window every night thinking he wouldn’t come home and watch the news and worry he was one of the soldiers who was killed. I was lucky, he came back. There are so many kids whose parents didn’t make it back. This song breaks my heart. It was every day of my life. Please remember and help those kids whose parents didn’t come back.
Hello 👋 Susan. How are you doing? Hope you are fine. I’m Mark Clifford and am from Denver Colorado. Where are you from? You seem like a real country girl
Oh, gosh. This is something most of us cannot understand without the experience. I cannot imagine going through that. I am so very glad he came back. But, yes, all of those children whose parents did not come back during those years. A lifetime of loss. And then, of course, the ones who came back but were never the same....Then and now. Thank you for your comment. It gives me some tiny feeling of what it must have been like.
I know that feeling my dad was in the Navy also for 31 years was in Korea and Vietnam and I was luck my dad came home alive every time 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I know this song is for veterans, but I remember my mom always singing this. We lost my dad many years ago due to heart issues, and this song always brought her to tears because the lyrics made her feel like my dad was talking right to her. I always wondered why the song made her sad, and one day she explained it to me. So this song does hold a special place in my memories, and it did for her until the day she passed away as well.
💔
This was the song that played at my grandpa’s funeral, he did serve in the military but he had died long after his serves of a heart attack in 2012.
I still get somewhat teary eyed listening to it.

As a trucker gone from home a month or more at a time I think of my wife and kid every time I hear this. I think there should be a video remake with truckers in the video or oil rig works. No disrespect to the military but they are not the only ones who are away from there family doing something to better this country. Truckers do too.
My dad worked away all week on the RR, prob like a trucker, as he was only home a few days a week. I never really got to see my dad in the 40+ yrs i knew him (he passed away at age 74, i was 44 at the time. I was glad when he took early retirement at age 62 or i wouldn't have ever gotten to spend more time with him, which is the only good thing i can say about my disability of severe pain; it gave me time to spend with him. I agree, no disrespect at all to the military, they risk their lives, but like you say, a lot of people have to be away from their families just to support them. I can remember waving thru the window every Sun night as he drove away. He would turn on the dome light so we could see him waving back. I know he cried when my brother & i would hug him good bye sometimes. Lord do i miss him. Sorry Josh that you have to be away from your family for so long, always be careful so you can come home safe to your family.
thank you for your post. and I'm glad you finally got the time with your father that you were finally able to get. and thank you for your wishes on my safe journeys.

You are welcome fellow life traveler! I hope that the roads have been kind to you & that you have been able to be with you family more. Love is all we have in this world to hold onto that's good, & with this hatred & violence going on in the world, in my opinion, b/c of a hateful, vindictive, controlling candidate, i am very worried for the world. You give the family a few extra hugs next time you have to leave. You have my admiration for doing what is prob a hard job, going thru the unknown sometimes & long, lonely stretches. Take care, friend. From a woman who just gets no one to talk to sometimes except family who live nearby but don't get me wrong, i love them, but love to hear the stories of other people in this world & of their struggles. Take care!
WDOGwoof thanks. and thank you :)

Thank you Betsy, that came at a very good time. I also believe this and look forward to seeing her again one day. However, for now, I have a loving wife and two wonderful kids that need as much support as a Dad can give.
This song always reminds me of my dad, he used to travel up and down the country as an engineer and every evening when my mother would be cooking, on his way home from work he'd call to tell us how far away he was and what time he would be home for tea ❤️ I was always a daddy's girl and we were close but I didn't realise how much he was my best friend until after he died. Every day I wish I could spend another day with him and see his sparkly eyes when he spoke to me, I'd love to be able to tell him how much I adore him and how much I love him and how priceless he is to me, I pray one day we'll be reunited again

He would cry telling me" He loved me more than infinity and even though were thousands of miles apart I'm always with you". He died 10 days after my 11th birthday and I'm 28 now, and I still hear him crying to me "I love you to infinity Lori Lue!". My Grandpa was like that too. He also served in WW II and died of cancer.
Mine passed away to. Him and I are really close we hung out together all the time when I was a kid. Then when my step grandma passed away he came to live us and it was like old times again. He started getting sick all the time with sea diff and pneumonia and he had copd and lots of other problems it got to the point where he was miserable he could no longer eat regularly and he began to lose tons of weight. He wasn't happy he started to get demicha really by that time only time he was happy was when family came to visit him in the nursing home I went as often as I could.then one day day I got a text from my mom at work telling me he had passed away. I tried to hold back crying because I was at work but I couldn't and just lost it on my way up to the front of the store to. this was the song that made me think of him. I had prayed one night. I knew his time was running short so I prayed that when he passed that he would have no pain that he would do it peacefully in his sleep and that's exactly what happened. I am praying for you as well.

@@lifeisgoodyoushouldgetone4964 Thanks!!
My daddy passed on Easter morning this year at 9:15AM sharp. God must’ve known better than I did. Lord I miss him. ❤
So sorry for your loss😢
God damn. So many years later and it still hits right in the feels.
I listen to this song often and cry throughout it. Our loved ones are with us, always because love never dies. Bless us all.
When I joined the army my mom didn't fully support my decision... while I was in BCT she sent me the lyrics to this song. My mom was always my best friend and when she didn't support my decision it killed me. These lyrics are what pushed my through my military career and showed me that even if my best friend wasn't by my side, she was always with me and still is in her own way
Oh, wow, so for you it was reverse. It was your mother with YOU. Though maybe she imagined it both ways. Very moving comment. Thank you.
When my mom and stepdad went through separation, this song had just come out, and every time I hear it I cry. I was 12 and my stepdad was my world. He raised me from birth. I love him so much ❤
listing to this song 09-10-2021 The day before 20 year anniversary of 911. Tears are flowing. God bless all! Dear Lord watch over the USA and keep us safe. Amen
Amen and you too my friend Mary and I pray to God to give you a lot of beautiful days, and I hope God bless you to have a great day today, I'm Roy from Happy camp California. Where are you from ?
Hope you don't mind me asking ?
My dad died in 2000 when I was 8 and growing up, this is the song I'd play on repeat whenever I missed him so much and wanted to feel his presence.
I'm 30yrs old now. I haven't been in that space for a while, maybe I healed. But last night, I came across a cover of this song on the voice by Kirk Jay and I was so overcome by emotions. I cried for all the ways this song saved me and gave me peace. I am so grateful for art and this music that is so pure.
Thanks for sharing love and soul and a place for complicated and far-away love. ❤️🇰🇪
this song played at my great grandma’s funeral. i was only one at the time, but today i heard this as we were doing a memorial day parade. it had me in tears. this song reminds me every day that i was her closest great grandchild and that she’s one of my closest spirit guides. i love you, great grammy neal. thank you for being here for me all the time.
Hello 👋 Brittyeet. How are you doing? Hope you are fine. I’m Mark Clifford and am from Denver Colorado. Where are you from? You seem like a real country girl
Thank you ALL for your Service
My dad was an Air Plane painter for the Air Force
I to know the struggle of not seeing him
He is still alive
I Salute You All
He called her on the road
From a lonely, cold hotel room
Just to hear her say I love you one more time
But when he heard the sound
Of the kids laughing in the background
He had to wipe away a tear from his eye
A little voice came on the phone
Said, "Daddy when you coming home?"
He said the first thing that came to his mind
I'm already there
Take a look around
I'm the sunshine in your hair
I'm the shadow on the ground
I'm the whisper in the wind
I'm your imaginary friend
And I know I'm in your prayers
Oh, I'm already there
She got back on the phone
Said I really miss you, darling
Don't worry about the kids--they'll be all right
Wish I was in your arms
Lying right there beside you
But I know that I'll be in your dreams tonight
And I'll gently kiss your lips
Touch you with my fingertips
So turn out the light and close your eyes
I'm already there
Don't make a sound
I'm the beat in your heart
I'm the moonlight shining down
I'm the whisper in the wind
And I'll be there until the end
Can you feel the love that we share?
Oh, I'm already there
We may be a thousand miles apart
But I'll be with you wherever you are
I'm already there
Take a look around
I'm the sunshine in your hair
I'm the shadow on the ground
I'm the whisper in the wind
And I'll be there until the end
Can you feel the love that we share?
Oh, I'm already there
Oh, I'm already there
This is a life time song. The message is true yesterday, today and tomorrow..long live love, long live marriage life, long live family life, long live family warmth.
I listen to it as much as and as long as I miss it

This song is so beautiful, but heartbreaking and sad at the same time. Can't stop thinking about how many soldiers lost their lives at these stupid wars, and so many families have to learn how to live without their loved ones.I wish wars didn't exist!damn it.

Hey I know what feel to have a loved one passed away
my dad died of cancer oct. 14th of this year (2016) I miss him very much
Jody Louise my dad died unexpectedly two years ago, I went to do a fundraiser that day and I called my dads cell phone that morning, I remembered there was snow that morning and when he didn't answer the first call I thought he was probably shoveling the snow. Well I got to the place I was having my fundraiser and ended ten minutes early since the snow was bad enough for me to leave so I called dad again and once again no answer so I got concerned that dad had an emergency shoveling the snow so I called mom since dad hadn't answered any calls I left him. Fast forward two days later, my brother who had been snowbound and only got out that morning told me that dad died two days before and I was confined to the family home. For a few days I wanted to believe the snow caused issues.
Beautiful Song.

This song still makes me cry, I lost my dad when I was 4, he was shot down in Vietnam. I married my love who was in the Navy and every time he left on a cruise I would wonder if we were looking at the same stars at night.
I haven’t seen my girl for 11 months now, Sometimes I wonder how fast she grows...
just throughout this whole song... I feel so sorry for those who lost their Father or Mother in the wars... this is the best song, and I remember this being in a "Gratitude; Pass it on" ad from when I was like 7 or 8. I don't know you, or you don't know me. but for those who served our country; thank you so much for your service and I love you guys!
My grandma passed away January 30, 2021 from uterine cancer. She had no idea it was to that extent. She thought it was a UTI. But it was far more worse… it was already too late. This song reminds me of her. Grandma I love you forever and always 💔
Thank you God for overcoming the world with LOVE 💕 I believe!!! 😊
POWERFUL,im from uk,but my heart is in U.S.A
Every Veterans Day/ Remembrance Day I play the song and it brings a tear to my eye. Very powerful lyrics even at the present time.
Here now in 2022 we the one's who made this far must be thankful for those that went before and paved the way. Let us always remember our soldiers that fought and died for us and that defend us. Our first responders and medical professionals who put it all on the line and stood in the gap for us during the pandemic. Last but never least many sung and unsung heroes who rose to the occasion, who saw and acted. Many cries were issued and hearts with compassion stepped forward. Sincerely to all of you that do the things we take for granted. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. May God bless you all. Stay safe. Stay strong.
Lost my friend from Iraq and then my brother in Somalia back here😢😢RIP my soldiers forever 🙏
I had a dear friend who has since passed away 😢. Of course I turned her on to country music 🎶 and this was her favorite song 🎵. Her daughter and grandchildren lived far away and she would sing this song with all her heart and soul. Thank you Lonestar for bringing comfort to my friend and now this song is one of my favorites. I miss you Dottie but you're always in my heart ❤️.
Hello, how are you doing?
I'm playing this song at my 26 year old sons funeral tomorrow night!
He loved Lonestar ever since we saw them perform at Little Creek Amphib Base in 2005.
I'm sorry for your loss mate. I don't have any kids myself so I can't imagine the pain you are going through now. This is a perfect song to play at the funeral. Anyway, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family
@@garylyons1498 Thanks Gary! He had over 400 friends pay their respects at the viewing on June 11th. The music soundtrack included all his faves.
