Some chuck and duck chippers from the 1970s are still in everyday operation. Require almost no maintenance and hurt like hell when it's cold out.

Nothing like getting slapped across the ear in the dead cold of winter feeding a chuck an duck, better yet nothing funnier than a greenhorn gettin that ass beat by the thin tips of branches till they learn the truth behind the name and how to properly understand your instructions feeding a -chuck and duck-. GOOD TIMES.

I have this same 40yr old chipper still doing what it was made to do. It is made to chip 4" and smaller diameter limbs with all of the branches intact. Used properly they are very safe and efficient. They are not made for logs. The people in this video are not using it correctly. We make a pile of branches all facing the same direction then place the chipper so it can be fed with the operator standing on the side of the feed table. No whipping or ducking just feed and turn away. As much as I can lift it will swallow. They are great for palm fronds.

These guys are clueless and deathly afraid of this chipper. Its funny as hell to watch.

yeah cause a little branch is gonna drag an entire human 70-90kg in right, yeah a little snag or whatever it just rips off the person for the most part and does not suck you in cause duh.

No room to work, too many people and in a hurry. Somebody is going to trip and go through that thing. Were it me I would load it from the side and not directly behind it where a stray limb can snag you and take you in.

We have one of these at the tree service I work at we almost never use it it's more of a nostalgia thing it was the owners first chipper but dam its violent and dangerous we call it the huck n duck but I had a chuckle seeing you guys call it almost the same thing the reason it feeds so fast is there is no feed wheels just the cutting knife drum so its feeding material at the speed the drum is turning

Hydraulic chippers have statistically way more casualties. Chuck and ducks are just scarier so they get the ignorant "suicide chipper" nickname

    hahaha, love it.
pros of this type of model is if you have a bunch of limbs that are straight, no kinks, i find , chipping regrowth poplar trees it goes quickly, other than that, they suck, self-feed models are just highly superior.

It’s the y branches at the base that slow this thing down people who don’t use have no idea how hard it can be to get those to catch

The old style fast feeding chipper. I know someone who has one just like that and I hate the damn thing. You can be easily whipped in the face by a twig/limb.
