R32 needed to find a way to raise the revs on launch in the drag, too much lag off the line.
He needs to get a Torqamp to keep the turbo spooled while also providing some boost on launch.
More rpm is needed in all gears i feel with that turbo, as not in proper efficent powered until 4th gear onwards lol
@@toyotaturbo504 You are 100% right, when he changes gear, rpm drop and he lost boost pressure, if he revs more 300 or 400 rpm it will probably be way faster.

The last race the Audi went early by a car length, and won by the same margin. So the Golf was probably equal or a winner in the roll under a perfect equal start, as shown by the times.
Agreed, the RS6 and it’s driver are great but he was definitely accelerating well before the line, Anton would have won that one if he hadn’t of jumped. I’d expected the RS6 to win in the 1/4, it’s so effective off the line and the VW with a huge turbo and none of the modern tech isn’t likely to win.

The golf was definitely faster, but held back by the gear change. With the same type of transmission as the RS6 it would easily have dominated all races.

Imagine that R32 with a DSG retrofit. Set time and transmission definitely won that race. Sequential could probably use some different gearing also. I'd take either. I miss my R32.
Can 100% confirm if that r32 build had the dsg like my mk5 r32 it wouldnt of even been a race the r32 would of drug the Audi.

Shows the advancement of technology in gearbox’s and TCU software getting the launches on these new cars so nailed on! Take nothing away from the Golf though, especially the sound 🤤
part true, but time 11.48 on 1/4 race for 1000hp car is really really weak, saw many manual cars without any technology with that kind of power making way better times, he needs some time and launches in that Golf and i bet he can achive low 10s

R32 needs to set the lunch control higher!!!! Also he needs an rolling anti lag boost mode! Then u will see another race…
@@ww3110 thats alot of modifications on that car and it really needs to get tweked out, its really a hard task, if you build thing like this launch it for real, dont smooth it. I get it, saving a car, scared of braking driveshaft, but its build racecar. Get that launch controle up to boost that big turbo, and i bet hes at 3s to 100kmh (60mph)

Antons reaction after the 2nd roll race was priceless, made me smile cos I was happy for him to get the win. Amazing car, and to be up against such a beast of a car, that RS6 is a crazy fast. Half mile race between them would be sick.
Ratios don't seem to suit a launch for the golf. A dsg would make it lethal. I don't believe it has over 1000hp. It's got a hp and weight advantage over the Audi and should destroy it on the rolling starts

Some of the competetive gtrs you see with a few bangs going of after launch to keep the turbo full spool
Id wanna see both dyno charts side by side- i think that golfs probably only got 2k of usable power, whereas that rs6 will have a lot kore power across the rev range

Great content as always, hats off. What bugs me though is the numbers that some guys come with... 1080hp and 5.5 100-200? That should have been a high 3's if the power claim was right. The rs6 definitely runs for the power.

I think no matter how perfect Anton gets the results would be more or less similar... the car itself actually needs some work with overcoming turbo lag.

The 1100hp Golf seems like its running about 750whp in this video. And it seems boost by gear, once he gets to 4th gear the car takes off!
Am thinking the same I do 144mph in the 1/4 mile in a 700hp car that weighs 1190kg

Could do with seeing dyno graphs of the cars that run these races. Peak power and peak torque only tell a fraction of the story.
As for this one, if they started 15-20mph faster in the roll races the Golf might have actually been on boost when they went for it.
Gives you an idea of the practicality of running a BT on the street, even with sequential (or DSG/ZF). If all your power is up at the top, and the other car has power from 3k all the way up - albeit less peak power - you’re getting smoked.

the golf didnt have 1080hp in this races. i have a big turbo s3 8l 1.8t dsg converted. on a 680hp setup with g30-900 turbo it ran 10.12 sec and 100-200 in 5.3 sec and 0-100kmh 2.7 sec with r888r. now it has ~750hp and ran 4.9 100-200 and 10.0 on quarter mile on a very hot day (40+ degrees) with high IATs. should run 9 high easily. so that's why i think this golf had some problems...
a friend of mine got a a3 8l 2.8 vrt dsg swapped with gtx35rs and 950hp. with manual gearbox (mq500) it ran 10.0 all day long and when he swapped to dsg it ran 9.5 sec and 100-200 in 3.8 sec

Exactly. That G Series is one big turbo. Think if they’d started the roll at a slightly faster speed the Golf would have got up a lot quicker. But even transient lag is an issue on a turbo that size. He needs rolling anti lag 😁

I think you may have to brake boost that car or add rolling anti lag to keep the turbo spooled

With a bit of practice and fettling it should cane the Audi.
It’s also a shame that tech has made cars so damn easy to drive and the efficiency is incredible. Very hard to beat with a more analogue car.

Technology wise it’s mental to see how a newer heavier car manages to hold its own so well if the turbo on the golf could spool faster I think it could have one
Yep, alot more heavier, less power but newer tech rules and them large audi engines sound so mental
I’ve had a few DSGs now but jumping back into a manual box is so much better! More engaging and raw
This is one of the best races I have seen in a long time.
audi's transmission and overall technology is what makes it so quick. if they both had manual transmission, it would have been a different result. not to mention, audi is a quattro and there is little to no road slip.
One of the few rolling races that have actually been clean. Good stuff from the lads.

That was class! Honestly I think more in line and watch the flags not the opposite car and you'd get a better start. The Audi is well just a Beast but expected...the Mk4 being more of a build up car is something else. Good racing chaps!
What a race , I'm a Audi guy through and through but I would take the VW as it offers the more driver experience and it's quicker , just needs dialing in more , when on boost it was pulling hard on the RS. Cracker of a battle

That r32 is the most unique car of its kind you'll ever see and will only go up in value and almost nothing will break the audi will fall apart and depreciate constantly until it's scrap. Not meaning to be rude that audi is a beast. But that golf is a 1 of a kind mint machine! Respect to both drivers for the good spirited fun 😊

The Golf seems to have a lot of turbo lag though, and you can see it really pull when it hits the sweet spot, but lower revs the power drops off a lot.

Golf for me. Total winner. The modification comparison isn't even in the same ballpark. I appreciate the effort put into the audi but ultimately its a bolt on, tested and proven car. When that golf gets properly tested, it will be a serious weapon.

Audis are insane. My Quattro S3 (proper S3 with actual awd 7 speed stronic and 310 BHP stock) does 0-60 in 4.4 with a BHP to weight figure of just around 200 HP so you can do a lot with decent technology now.
This was A Absolute SAVAGE Race on the OG Battles Alex & that Mighty RS6 Is a Monster Taking 3-0 on the battles Nothing even coming Close to The Beast she is but Gotta Give it to Anton man The Way he was Shifting Through them Gears bare in mind not having much seating time with the 1080bhp R32 Wagon He sure put on a Show in that Sleeper 😱

Did you say infinity ecu tuner? Is it located in Europe somewhere? I bought one of those for my BMW m5 e60. Got mad gains from it too. My 2006 m5 e60 dyno 636 bhp full bolt ons upgraded fuel pumps on e40 mixture. But ya the guy who invented the infinity ecu tuner originally for my m5 e60 was the one who did my custom ecu tune. Gained like 66hp just from the ecu tuner setup he gave me.
