    I was literally searching for hours last night for a betaflight compass calibration , and this morning in my feed is your video. Much more complicated than i anticipated.

    Thsnk you great video . If my declination is + do i add that + # to 360 so for example declination of +12 i add that to 360 so 372?
    Thank you Mark

      no, just 12. Do not add positive.

    The CW270 flip is the standard for many GPSs, but it is always good to double-check because many GPSs show an arrow that you might think is the correct orientation but actually means nothing.

    I believe i have my Y facing left Z pointing up and x pointing forward after celebrating my gps does point north north but when i rotate the drone to the east it shows west and vise versa in betaflights gps tab. What would cause these to read backwards but north is correct?

    @uavtech Thank you for your video. I want though to clarify few things. I'm using HGLRC M100-5883 GPS. It's mountred at the back of fpv with 24 degrees tilt backwords. When all axes are align correctly (x forward, y left, z up), my gps is upside down (compass chip up) and connector is facing forward as i want to. Should I flip it around X axis (roll in fpv terms) and be done w/it (set mag alignment to roll 1800) or I flip it around Y (pitch in fpv terms) and then rotate (to bring back my connector forward) around Z axis 180 degrees (yaw in fpv terms) wich means set mag alignment to pitch = 1800 and yaw = 1800. Also, what value do I assign to gps tilt backwards of 24 degrees. Should I add 240 to pitch value or subtract?

      @mean_cheese_fpv1059 13 годин тому

      The orientation for hglrc m100-5883 is cw 180 flip if you mount it with the arrow facing correctly.

    • @uavtech

      it will depend on outside influences and how fast you are moving when triggereimg POS Hold. This said, generally no, not really.

  • @Mupshot
    @Mupshot 23 дні тому

    Does pos hold in beta light 4.6 hold it where it stops, or where you flipped the switch? If I hit the switch at 90kph, will it slam on the brakes and back pedal, or stop and hold?

    • @uavtech
      @uavtech  23 дні тому

    • @Mupshot

      @@uavtech agreed, thats pretty cool to have that level of logic. otherwise, I could see the quad doing several rounds of correction to try to get back to the spot where the switch was activated.

    Hold up! Is BF 4.6 Out?? Man I'm slacking lol. Thanks for this video! I've never used the compass because it always seemed to throw off my gps. Maybe I'll finish this video now and learn how to calibrate it lol! Position hold on an fpv drone would be awesome if you could trust it. Thanks Mark!

      4.6 is still in development. You can flash it, but it's not even in release candidate status, yet.

    love it ... but if you remember i complained how i can't get it to work ....in BF but in iNav its fine ...
    Apparently something in the BF settings can lockout your magnetometer and it's not under any GET MAG settings..(it still reads under sensor tab)
    the way i realised something was wrong it's because anytime i plug usb its defaults to north
    i end up doing full reset .. and after reset doing accelerometer and magnetometer calibration 1st then going tab by tab restoring all my settings manualy..

    Would anybody know why the magnetometer would jump around or snap when rolling the craft to a complete 90 degrees, it changes about 10 degrees towards east and or west when facing to north, even though the reading is SPOT ON doesn't move any other time?

    They have changed the allowed values in 4.6 again to only have a range of -300 to 300 so it's getting really confusing now. But it did allow me to enter a-5 so guess we'll have to do some good math to get our values now because we can't get the 3500 value needed. This was from a flash last night.

    What about the ist8310 mag. The y axis is reversed from normal. Its annoying. Some geprc gps has it and other's. I think 4.6 supports it now. In 4.5 i had to use negative values to align correctly.

    You might want to recommend INAV 8.0 RC. The Alignment tool has been updated with default orientation presets for a variety of the more common GPS/compass modules.

    Great video again Mark!! Some useful additions: the compass dance is best to do like this: ua-cam.com/video/MT2WrHaLxr4/v-deo.htmlsi=dW6Ug2Nvvkhg83RS (min 4) so you have each axis in max positive and negative (what is the idea of the calibration). And to show how sensitive a magnetometer is and how you need to keep it away from electronics: ua-cam.com/video/0yDKmTElr4o/v-deo.htmlsi=atLqMa8Em5pmCt8X
